Chapter 7: Ch 7: Opportunities
"Bwahaha...now that’s my sister! Nothing less expected from you!"
The silence was broken by the Shogun’s pride filled laughter that echoed through the entire landscape.
"What are you all waiting for, brats? Charge everyone, my sister has joined the battle. It’s time to celebrate."
"Blood! Blood! Blood!"
The Hermanns chanted for blood like the followers of a demonic cult. They were now in a state of frenzy, their expressions making it clear they wanted nothing less than their enemy’s blood.
Beside Enzo, Lysandra’s lips twitched.
"Do you now see how hard it was for me to find someone sane amongst these all muscleheads?" Her eyes landed on Draven with an affectionate gaze, who was the only figure exuding absolute calmness even when others around him were enveloped in an aura of madness.
Almost as if remembering something, Lysandra turned to Enzo.
"Boy, when you choose your own wife, make sure to look for someone calmer and definitely someone intelligent. Or better yet, you can even come to me and let me approve of your choice."
Enzo who had been expecting her to say something else, maybe even something serious, was now completely thrown back at the abrupt change of the topic.
"W-what?" He stuttered out in confusion as he watched her face light up even more at his reaction.
’Oh no...’
Instinctively, he already knew his reaction was definitely not the one he should have given. And was he so correct....
"On my~ aren’t you such a shy kid?" She giggled, definitely amused and enjoying their interaction.
"Of course not. Why would such a small thing make me ashamed?"
Not wanting whatever dignity he had been left with to fade away like the morning dew, Enzo defiantly denied her claims.
But it seemed even that was the wrong reaction...
Lysandra laughed out louder as she pointed at him. freewёbn૦νeɭ.com
"Do you even see your ears? They are as red as a ripened tomato."
His eyes widened as he touched his ears. But then he gave her a blank look.
She was trying her best to hold her laughter. But that was of no use as she burst down into a wave of giggling.
"Sorry for tricking you, kid. But look on the bright side! You falling for my trick means you were actually embarrassed internally. And thus, you had tried your best to not show your emotions. But the moment I pointed at your ears, you thought you have failed to completely hide your true emotions."
"See? It was so easy to understand you haha."
’...Huh?’
Enzo...was genuinely confused. No, he was bewildered at what was even going on.
’How can one even come up with such a well made up story?’ He thought as he saw Lysandra nodding to herself as if thoroughly convinced with her own theory.
"So when you become a named barbarian, find me okay? The least I could do is congratulate you for your future achievements. Oh, also don’t forget about me when you choose your spouse. I shall definitely help you with it."
Her mouth worked so fast as if it was participating in a marathon. Her gaze was slowly getting distracted as she came up with imaginary scenarios.
Enzo sighed.
He felt like the battle raging down was definitely easier to deal with than Lady Lysandra’s imaginations.
"Lady Lysandra?"
"Yes? You are saying something? Or do you think my suggestions aren’t that good? Maybe you want to change something or maybe even add something?" Her voice was once again getting excited.
But Enzo didn’t allow her the chance as he quickly interrupted her.
"Lady Lysandra, we are in the middle of a battle."
"So?" Her brows furrowed slightly.
"...Well, all the events you are speaking of are future events. Why not talk about them when the time comes? And morever what is the guarantee that I might even become a named Hermann or even marry for that matter."
Lysandra walked to the edge of the cliff, choosing silence for a brief moment. Then turning around to look at him, she asked in a gentle tone.
"Is it wrong for me to wish the best for my citizens?"
Then before Enzo could even reply, she added.
"As for you becoming a named barbarian, I don’t doubt of it not happening. That’s a certain event...and with me present, you are definitely not remaining unmarried. I shall for sure find you a good wife."
"Goodbye, kid. I shall remember your face."
Saying that, her figure burst into a puddle of water that flowed down with a cascading speed. Within moments, she once again stepped out of the puddle.
This time, beside her husband Draven.
Meanwhile, Enzo sitting atop the cliff couldn’t help but sigh.
’Why is she that interested in getting others married?’
Nevertheless, he didn’t understand her. To him, she appeared as an enigmatic personality.
But a powerful figure as well.

Looking down, it was evident that the tides of the battle have changed. The Windsor army’s vanguard was on the verge of a defeat.
Their numbers were now so diminished that all of them were starting to retreat. Towards the forest behind them.
But the Hermanns weren’t planning to let them escape.
The mages with high proficiency in wind formed hurricanes, messing with the soldier’s movements.
Earth mages were forming walls behind the fleeing soldiers to cut-off their escapes.
And beneath this natural display of nature’s magic, Draven’s blade didn’t stop killing.
With the addition of the Sea Mage, who was throwing water blades at the enemy, it was an overkill for the Windsor army.
At that point, even the Shogun had stopped fighting. Rather choosing to watch over his warriors as they did their own work.
’Since everyone is alive, they should have a good chance against what’s coming right?’ fɾēewebnσveℓ.com
Perched atop the higher grounds, Enzo contemplated.
Although the Hermanns could win this war, that didn’t ease his anxiety at all. Afterall, a defeat for the Windsor Army meant Princes Valerie might be at risk as well.
And honestly, he didn’t want to watch her die a second time.
"Overthinking shall lead me nowhere. I have to do whatever I can." Enzo thought with a sigh.
His eyes then fell on another figure on the battlefield, on Thorgar.
’If given the timing as stated in the novel, he was supposed to be running towards the forest behind me.’ He glanced behind him.
Evergreen trees covered the lands as far as his eyes could see. The forest appeared calm and maintained a serenity unlike the chaos beneath him.
"It is high time I work on myself." Then looking at Thorgar, his lips curved involuntarily.
"Sorry Mr. Protagonist, but I am going to have to steal your opportunities. Benefits of having knowledge of the future, you see."
He chuckled softly, before getting up from the ground.
As he was getting ready to depart towards his next destination, the forest behind the battlefield stirred.
Restless birds took to the sky and flying in every direction, as if escaping from something.
Slight vibrations ran along the ground at the approach of something.
Enzo glanced at the far away horizon. Under the pinkish hue of the sky, the same colour as the crescent moon above him, a huge army was approaching.
From his vantage point, he saw horses, men on foot and even several ballistic weapons. Trees were trampled and uprooted - it was as if a declaration and a promise of shattering anything in their path.
’Took you quite a long time to arrive, Princess Valerie.’
But to his disappointment, he wouldn’t be here to see her when she finally comes out of the forest.
"Sad life." He sighed and went on his own way.
