Chapter 4: Blue Dragon
The stairs from the bedroom led to a giant colosseum made from grey stone, with white pillars that stretched up towards the ceiling.
This room was ginormous. Larger than any room Charles had ever been in.
This was only natural, as it was the last room of an A-rank tower.
Most adventurer’s could farm the lower level of this tower for rewards, and wait for it’s weekly reset, but the higher floors were something entirely different...
Charles was starting to see why.
Curled up at the centre of the giant colosseum was a great dragon with scales blue like sapphire. It had black spikes running down its spine and a tail that could knock down entire buildings.
Its breath alone seemed to make the entire room hard to stand in.
Charles stood on the far side of the room and gulped.
So I was right... The blue dragon lives on the 99th floor.
How can I extract its blood?
Charles dared to get a little closer. His plan was to focus on the dragon’s system and hope to access its level.
Twenty metres... fifteen metres... ten metres... freewёbnoνel.com
When he was close enough, he looked the dragon straight in the face. It was hard for him to keep his balance in front of its breath.
Then he focused on the crown of the dragon’s head.
A giant translucent crystal appeared there, and once he focused on it, information flooded his mind.
「Caarthanax」
Grade: Sage [6th Grade]
Potential: Sage [6th Grade]
Class: Blue Dragon
...
Sage...
"Hmph..."
Suddenly, a great wind left the dragon’s nostrils, sending Charles staggering backwards.
Then... its eyes opened.
Charles found himself standing face to face with two golden eyes.
The dragon rose up, towering over Charles like a cathedral. Its wings unravelled themselves, releasing power that was beyond Charles’ comprehension.
Then it let out a breath of blue flames into the air. The heat raised the temperature of the entire tower, which could be felt by the adventurers currently exploring the lower levels.
Not good...
Charles immediately started using the Author’s Mana Circulation technique.
A great amount of pain spread throughout every single part of his body as glowing blue mana travelled through his bloodstream.
The mana circulation technique was extremely efficient, but due to his low grade, the amount of mana he could circulate was low.
Not to mention, the fact that he was so scared didn’t help him circulate it.
It will have to do.
Once enough mana was in his veins, Charles activated his Supreme Spell for the first time.

As the blue dragon cast its gaze down on him, Charles suddenly felt a great pressure weigh down on him.
The dragon’s chest rose as fire began to build up.
Any second now, and he would be burnt to a crisp.
Charles took in a deep breath and shouted,
"Breathing fire is not allowed here!"
As soon as the words left his mouth, Charles collapsed to his knees.
Not only his mana, but every ounce of his energy and stamina had been drained from him at that moment.
He was out of breath, panting and in severe pain.
Shit! Is this what using a Supreme Spell costs?
He looked up through the pain and glanced at the dragon.
That was when he came to a sudden realisation.
His spell had worked!
Although the fire had already caused the dragon’s chest to swell up, it had no way to let it out.
If he were in a better condition, Charles would have thrust a fist into the air to celebrate his victory. Unfortunately, he could barely move his arm at all.
The Blue Dragon swallowed its flames and looked down at the puny man in front of it.
It was hard to read the expressions of a dragon, but Charles thought that the beast might have had its eyebrow raised.
Suddenly, the dragon spoke.
"You realise I could just step on you, right? That would kill you all the same."
The dragon sounded surprisingly human, although its voice did make the tower rumble.
Charles chuckled through the pain.
"You’re right... But wouldn’t you have done it already if you planned on killing me? I think I might have impressed you with my spell just now."
The dragon breathed sharply.
"Perhaps you are right, even if you are arrogant about it. I am interested; how can a Novice prevent the attack of a Sage? More importantly, why can’t I see your class?"
He can’t see my class?
This was news to Charles. Good news.
If everyone could see that he possessed the Editor class, they would not only wonder what it meant, but they would also question whether he was constantly rewriting the laws of the world.
This could lead to others failing to trust him.
"I know..." the dragon suddenly spoke before Charles could answer. "You are her, friend. That white-haired woman. Are you here on her behalf?"
This confirmed that Charlotte had previously sought out this dragon, which was how she had gathered some of its blood before.
It was only then that he noticed there was a scar on the creature’s chest.
Had she fought him in the past?
Charles coughed up a bit of blood, as well as glowing blue liquid.
He realised then that the blue liquid was mana, as he has thought.
Using that Supreme Spell had really done a number on him... but at least it was better than a mutation.
"I am her... husband. She needs a vial of your blood. She’s unwell."
The words hung in the air for a few moments. It was as though the dragon was considering the situation.
Then it breathed softly through its nose before lifting a hand into the air. At the end of its fingers were metre-long claws.
With one of those claws, the dragon scratched its chest. A droplet of blood formed at the wound and slowly prepared to fall to the ground.
Charles swiftly pulled out the vial and hurried over to the dragon with shaky legs.
He did not want to waste this opportunity, since he did not know if the dragon’s generosity would always be like this.
The blue drop fell from the wound, and Charles caught it in his vial.
The vial was immediately filled with the blue blood to the rim.
Then he looked up at the dragon that was casting a great shadow over him. The dragon looked down at him with its golden eyes.
"Tell her that this is the first and last time I will be gifting her this. Next time, she will need to give me something in return, or take the droplet by force, as she had done before."
Charles found himself staring at the scar on the dragon’s chest.
So that was done by Charlotte.
He bowed his head deeply until his forehead almost scraped the floor.
"Thank you, Caarthanax. I won’t forget this, I swear it."
The dragon breathed sharply one last time. Then it began curling itself up again, preparing to sleep.
"Just hurry on back to your wife. I don’t know what’s wrong with her, but she doesn’t deserve to die. Look after her..."
Charles’ eyes widened at the dragon’s words, but before he could respond, the beast was already fast asleep.
He made his way back to the door, with his body feeling weaker with every step he took.
That didn’t matter.
He got what he came for.
Don’t worry, dragon... I’ll make sure to look after her. I have to, if I want to know what’s going on here.
