Chapter 716: Chapter 716: Just One Step Away

"Hans Montrose, I’m not your gambling object!" Melody Thorne gripped the railing tightly; Hans truly let her down.

Hans Montrose raised his other hand, "Or do you want all of us to die here together?"

"Compete," said Jared Quinn, dropping a word.

Hans Montrose retracted his hand.

"Three." freewebnøvel.com

"Two."

"One."

Both men simultaneously dove into the tunnel, Kiki Sutton closed her eyes briefly, her complexion even paler than before, because Hans wanted her to be a witness. Both sides of the tunnel contained identical things, things that made her sick.

"Kiki, Kiki, is there something inside?" Melody Thorne was anxious. It couldn’t just be a simple tunnel.

"Melody, don’t worry, it’s okay, trust me, it’s okay," Kiki Sutton gasped for air, almost fainting, especially when she thought about what might appear in that tunnel.

"Kiki!"

Two gates slammed shut simultaneously. They had to move forward; moving forward was the only way out.

"It’s over. What’s inside? Leon Rivers and Harold Chapman are lurking in the shadows, what’s Hans Montrose up to?

He and Harold thought there’d be many people here or explosives, but there’s nothing! Nothing at all!

"No idea," Harold Chapman said with calm eyes, "We can’t go in, just have to wait."

"Damn," Leon Rivers couldn’t help but curse.

If not for Jared’s order to not kill in front of Melody Thorne, he would’ve had plenty of chances to end Hans Montrose’s life.

This is all such a mess!

Leon Rivers glanced at the time. They knew the size and scale of the factory; a man with physical strength and height could run the whole distance in two minutes.

But five minutes passed, then ten, fifteen, and neither man emerged.

"Damn it, what’s inside?" Leon Rivers couldn’t contain himself; something was clearly wrong.

In a place where they should’ve come out in two minutes, they were dragged to fifteen minutes with no sign of emerging.

"Are you going in or not?" Leon Rivers grabbed Harold Chapman’s collar.

Harold Chapman still showed no expression, pushing Leon’s hand away, "We’re all brothers, you’re impatient, but I’m even more anxious. Listen carefully, there’s the sound of fighting above, they’re not dead yet!"

Leon Rivers took a deep breath to calm down and indeed heard faint sounds of fighting, mixed with shouting, as if chaos was unfolding inside. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓

"Ugh," Leon Rivers, always a hygienic person, couldn’t help but gag.

Harold Chapman listened intently, his face somewhat complex; these two men’s thoughts were almost identical.

One didn’t want to kill in front of Melody for fear of scaring her, and the other didn’t want Melody to witness gruesome and terrifying scenes, hence the tunnel.

The one commonality was that both men were equally terrifying, possessing stronger psychological endurance than a trained soldier like him!

"Bang–" Two iron gates almost opened simultaneously; Jared Quinn leaped faster into the cage where Melody Thorne was, while Hans Montrose also emerged, just a step slower than Jared.

"You won," Hans Montrose’s expression had never been so despondent, yet it had never been so relaxed either.

The difference of that one step was due to the distance between the tunnel door and the iron railing, as they ran out simultaneously. That split second delay was Hans pondering whether he could leap over or would fall to pieces, while Jared Quinn needed no thought, he simply risked everything for Melody Thorne!
