Chapter 1335: Chapter 1333: Crush
Ha, men!
Yang Chen heard this and felt cold sweat on his forehead.
Thankfully, Ye Xin didn’t continue to dwell on this topic, letting Yang Chen breathe a sigh of relief.
The two of them strolled around the streets for a while before deciding to head back.
It was past eleven, nearly midnight, the perfect time for nightlife to begin.
The streets were bustling, groups of people, pairs and couples, creating quite a lively atmosphere.
Ye Xin held onto Yang Chen, unwilling to leave, pouting, "Should we go check out a bar?"
Yang Chen frowned, "It’s already late."
"Just for a little while, okay?" Ye Xin tugged at Yang Chen’s arm, playfully pleading.
Yang Chen couldn’t resist and immediately surrendered, "Alright, alright, whatever you say!"
With no choice, Yang Chen let Ye Xin drag him to the bar.
When he was abroad, Yang Chen often went to bars, so he was quite familiar with these places, but he hadn’t been since returning.
In fact, this was probably his first time at a bar since coming back.
Back when he was single, going to bars was either to complete a task or seek excitement.
Now, going with Ye Xin felt rather awkward.
The bouncer at the door, upon seeing Ye Xin, let them in directly without having to wait in line.
This drew complaints from the women waiting in line.
The bouncer glared, yelling, "If you looked like her, I’d let you in too!"
Immediately, the crowd pursed their lips into silence.
But the men, seemingly energized, scrambled to push forward.
Some even tried bribing the bouncer.
But there was no helping it; this bar was too popular and well-known in Jin Chen, so money wasn’t always a guaranteed entry.
The bar inside was loud and bustling.
It hadn’t seemed this way before, but Yang Chen now found it noisy.
Ye Xin was excited, let out a cheer, and rushed to the bar counter, ordering two cocktails.
"Cheers! To everlasting friendship!" Ye Xin shouted happily.
Yang Chen pressed her glass down, correcting, "To everlasting love, don’t think of me as just a friend because I want to sleep with you!"
Ye Xin’s face immediately turned red, glared at Yang Chen, downed her drink, and then looked around excitedly.
Yang Chen took a sip, leaned against the bar, asking, "Haven’t you been here before?"
Considering she’s a top international agent, it was surprising to see her so thrilled about a bar.
"Never been here." Ye Xin flashed a charming smile, "I’ve been to all kinds of places for missions, but that was always abroad. My hometown is Jin Chen, but I’ve barely explored here. Besides... I’ve never just hung out with friends at a bar without work involved."
Yang Chen was taken aback.
But then again, it made sense.
The two of them were alike.
Yang Chen had never visited these entertainment venues domestically, nor did he have many friends.
The same went for Ye Xin.
Apart from her partner Wei Xueqing, she had no one else.
And Wei Xueqing, being a workaholic, going out to bars with her was never an option.
Yang Chen became curious, ordered another drink for Ye Xin, and asked, "Back in school, wasn’t anyone pursuing you?"
Ye Xin held the glass, looked at Yang Chen, "Then I should ask you, did you ever pursue any girls in school?"
"Um..." Yang Chen felt he was falling into a trap.
Ye Xin, observant as she was, noticed Yang Chen’s expression, stared at him inquisitively.
Yang Chen knew he couldn’t hide anything from Ye Xin, so he explained helplessly, "I did have crushes, but never pursued anyone."
"You had crushes on others?" Ye Xin’s eyes widened, "Who?"
Seeing her curious and excited, Yang Chen felt a bit resigned, "You really want to know?"
"Of course! Other than me, there’s someone else in your heart! They say whether it’s a first love or a crush, the first woman you like is unforgettable, and I don’t want to be second to anyone!" Ye Xin huffed discontentedly.
Yang Chen laughed, "It was just young infatuation, not that serious."
"No excuses! You have to tell me!" Ye Xin insisted like a girl in love, determined to get to the bottom of it.
"Alright, alright! I’ll say." Yang Chen resigned, drank his glass, and slowly began, "It was in middle school, first year."
"Early love in the first year!" Ye Xin’s beautiful eyes widened, "Was she from your orphanage?"
Yang Chen shook his head, "No! At the orphanage... To be honest, apart from Yanyan, I didn’t have friends. Actually, many things were different from what you imagine. I was relatively strong, good at fighting, protected others from outside threats, but never bullied anyone within. But as for friends, I couldn’t befriend them. Our things were dear to us, so we were reluctant to share, fostering a selfish nature. Yanyan was different, she guarded her belongings tightly, yet was willing to share with me. Others wouldn’t, they’d rather snatch things from you. So... those who left the orphanage long ago mostly have families and careers now, some even doing well, but I’ve never seen them return or help the director."
Ye Xin’s face showed a hint of pity, "That... must have been lonely for you then."
"Not lonely." Yang Chen grinned, "With Yanyan around, that little girl never let you feel bored."
Ye Xin nodded slightly, listening intently.
"Regarding my first crush, let’s not stray off topic." Yang Chen chuckled, "I liked a girl in middle school because of her kindness. Her family lived near the orphanage, quite wealthy, her mother was a housewife, often engaged in charity. Naturally, she helped at the orphanage, and her daughter tagged along. Occasionally distributing milk, candy, books, clothes to us. I remember... her smile was particularly sweet... as for looks... she was a bit chubby-faced, with a ponytail. During middle school, she rode her bicycle to school, I saw her almost daily. In second year, we ended up in the same class. Liked her quite a bit, young feelings combined with her kindness, often helping us drew my attention to her."
"But you know, I was very insecure back then. Just a poor kid from an orphanage, barely getting by, how could I pursue anyone, offer anything? So I didn’t bother, just occasionally noting her presence, never escalated to pursuit. Later in second year, she dated, was called to the principal, then transferred schools."
After he finished, Yang Chen looked at Ye Xin and found tears in her eyes.
This startled Yang Chen, "What’s wrong? You wanted me to tell you!"
