Chapter 43: Power boost
"Hmm... what is she doing here?" Nova muttered as his eyes widened slightly. He was shocked to see a familiar yet completely unexpected person here.
Nova was genuinely surprised when he spotted Sister Maria among the defenders on the right side of the battlefield. The image before him was completely different from the calm and gentle woman he had met during the Awakening Ceremony.
Gone were the warm smiles and soothing presence that had made her seem approachable and kind. In their place stood a battle-hardened warrior covered in blood, fearlessly leading the charge against the demonic beasts.
However, her appearance wasn’t what shocked him the most.
It was her aura.
Even from a considerable distance, Nova could feel a powerful presence radiating from her body. The holy energy surrounding her was far denser than that of the other Holy Knights, and every movement she made carried a sense of strength and authority.
His eyes narrowed beneath the mask.
Without hesitation, Nova activated his Appraisal Skill.

"...."
Nova was genuinely baffled by what he had just discovered. The woman he had always thought of as a simple nun was, in reality, a formidable warrior capable of standing at the forefront of a battlefield. The contrast was so great that it almost felt like he was looking at an entirely different person.
If someone had told him that Sister Maria had a twin sister leading the Holy Knights, he would have believed it. What shocked him even more was the fact that she was actually stronger than William Ashwood, the Guild Leader of the Frosthall Hunters.
{It makes sense that you’re so shocked. Back then, you didn’t possess the All-Appraisal Eyes skill, and your level was far too low. You couldn’t perceive her true aura, and she was hiding it quite well.}
Nova nodded slightly as Liya’s explanation cleared up his confusion. It was only now that he truly understood how foolish it was to judge people based solely on appearances. If someone like Maria could perfectly conceal her strength while maintaining the image of a gentle nun, there were undoubtedly many others capable of doing the same.
Watching her effortlessly cut through demonic beasts with holy-infused attacks, Nova could see that her Light Affinity gave her a significant advantage against creatures of darkness. Since she was handling her section of the battlefield without issue, he decided not to interfere.
His gaze soon shifted toward another individual. Among the Beastfolk warriors stood a Wolf-Kin man whose appearance bore a slight resemblance to Rieka. Fighting alongside several other Beastfolk, the man tore through the beast tide with impressive ferocity.
Nova quickly appraised him and discovered that he was Tharuk vargirth, around Level 210. While his potential was ranked only C, his level and apparent age explained how he had reached such strength. He was clearly a veteran warrior who had spent many years honing his abilities.
He must be one of her relatives," Nova muttered, focusing on the man’s surname. However, he couldn’t afford to dwell on such unimportant matters right now.
Both Maria and the Wolf-Kin warrior were holding their ground perfectly well. There was no reason for him to waste time here.
The Hydra, on the other hand, was rapidly closing the distance.
A cold glint flashed through Nova’s eyes.
Lightning crackled around his body as he accelerated once more, shooting across the battlefield toward the approaching monster. Naturally, every demonic beast unfortunate enough to stand in his path met a swift end. His swords flashed repeatedly, carving through monsters with terrifying efficiency. Corpses fell one after another as system notifications continued to pile up, but Nova didn’t spare them a single glance.
To him, they were nothing more than experience points.
Nova quickly caught up to the Hydra.
The monstrous beast was enormous, standing at least thirty meters tall and towering over everything around it. Its massive body was covered in dark green scales that gleamed under the battlefield’s light, each scale appearing as hard as steel. Merely looking at the creature was enough to make ordinary warriors lose their courage.
The Hydra possessed nine enormous heads, each one swaying independently as it scanned the battlefield with blood-red eyes filled with malice and hunger. The heads resembled a bizarre mixture of dragons and serpents, giving the creature an even more terrifying appearance. Long forked tongues repeatedly flicked in and out of their mouths, releasing unsettling hissing sounds that echoed across the battlefield.
"Fuck... it’s as large as Moonclaw."
Nova couldn’t help but mutter as he came to a halt before the beast.
Naturally, he wasn’t foolish enough to underestimate a Rank A monster. However, he also wasn’t afraid of it. Despite the Hydra being a Level 200 beast, Nova had absolute confidence in his own strength. After everything he had gained since awakening, this was exactly the kind of opponent he wanted to face.
The moment the Hydra noticed him, several of its heads turned in his direction simultaneously. Its crimson eyes locked onto the lone black-robed figure standing before it.
A suffocating pressure spread across the area.
Yet Nova remained completely calm.
Instead of immediately attacking, he casually opened his system panel. The countless kills he had accumulated while crossing the battlefield had caused the notification window to become flooded with messages. Even now, new notifications continued appearing every second as his Deadborns fought throughout the battlefield.
Ignoring the murderous gaze of the gigantic Hydra, Nova focused his attention on the system messages that were still endlessly scrolling before his eyes.

[You acquired 10 Stat Points.]
Nova gazed at the endless stream of notifications with an unreadable expression hidden beneath his mask. However, inwardly, he was quite satisfied. Not only was he gaining experience from his own kills, but the Deadborns under his command were also contributing to his growth.
It was exactly what he had hoped for when he first acquired the skill. While he fought powerful enemies, his legion could continue hunting across the battlefield, constantly bringing him additional experience and accelerating his leveling speed.
A faint smile appeared beneath the mask.
This was the true advantage of having a legion.
After quickly reviewing his gains, Nova shifted his attention toward his accumulated stat points.
"Liya, distribute all the remaining stat points into my current stats. Prioritize Stamina since strength and agility is pretty decent and leave intelegence for now.
{Sure~ Here you go.}
Liya replied cheerfully as the system immediately began allocating the points according to Nova’s instructions.
+68 Strengt
+48 Agility
+136 Stamina
BOOM!
The moment the stat points were distributed, a surge of power coursed through Nova’s body. His muscles twitched violently as newfound strength flowed through every fiber of his being. The increase wasn’t merely numerical—it was something he could physically feel.
Raw power flooded his limbs, making him feel lighter, stronger, and far more dangerous than before. For a brief moment, Nova felt as though he could shatter a mountain with a single strike.
The aura surrounding him exploded outward once again.
Already terrifying before, it now became even more oppressive. The mixture of demonic energy, carnage aura, and killing intent intensified to a frightening degree. Several lower-ranked beasts rampaging nearby suddenly froze as if struck by an invisible force.
Moments later, their bodies burst apart into bloody paste, unable to withstand the overwhelming pressure radiating from Nova’s body.
A short distance away, the Hydra immediately sensed the change.
Its nine heads turned toward Nova simultaneously, their crimson eyes narrowing. The monster could clearly feel that the human standing before it had become significantly more dangerous in just a few seconds.
Although Nova’s level was still lower than the Hydra’s, his attributes had already reached a completely different realm.
Of course, this wasn’t solely due to the stat points he had just gained. Until now, Nova hadn’t included the bonus Strength and Agility he had obtained from the Gacha Wheel when evaluating his overall power.
Now, combined with his existing attributes and recent level-ups, his combat strength had risen dramatically, pushing him to an entirely new level.
