Chapter 18: Quest completed

Nova’s body shot high into the air as lightning exploded beneath his feet.

The next moment—he swung the sword downward with everything he had.

"CHAOS LIGHTNING SEVERANCE!"

BOOOOOOM—!

The moment Nova’s sword descended, a blinding arc of destruction exploded forward with terrifying speed. Lightning roared violently around the slash while an ear-piercing ultrasonic sound echoed throughout the entire dungeon, powerful enough to crack the surrounding space itself.

The air distorted violently wherever the attack passed.

Crackling lightning intertwined with chaotic black energy as the gigantic sword arc tore across the battlefield like a force meant to split the world apart. ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom

The Moonclaw Tyrant roared furiously, crazed by rage and pride. Instead of dodging, the colossal beast swung its gigantic claws head-on toward the incoming attack, dense Chaos Energy exploding around them.

But—it was useless.

The moment the attack collided against its claws, the dreadful sword arc sliced through them effortlessly as though cutting paper.

SHHHK.

Blood exploded everywhere.

The Moonclaw Tyrant’s crimson eyes widened slightly for the first time.

Then the slash continued forward without slowing down even slightly—and cleaved the gigantic wolf’s entire body into two halves.

THUD THUD.

The two massive halves of the Moonclaw Tyrant’s lifeless corpse crashed heavily onto the dungeon floor, shaking the entire chamber violently.

For a brief moment—silence filled the dungeon.

Then the system exploded with notifications.

But the notifications still didn’t stop.

Nova’s entire body was painted dark red with blood as he sat there breathing heavily. The final attack had consumed almost every bit of strength and energy he possessed. If he hadn’t released all that power in a single strike, his own body would have collapsed and burst apart before the Moonclaw Tyrant could even kill him.

Now, after the terrifying battle between him and the giant wolf finally ended, Nova sat weakly on the cold shattered dungeon floor. Massive cracks spread throughout the chamber from the destruction they had caused, while the split corpse of the Moonclaw Tyrant still lay nearby.

His whole body had gone completely limp.

At this point, he couldn’t even stand up anymore. All he could do was stare blankly at the glowing system notifications floating before him.

Then his eyes stopped at the description of the new skill and class he had acquired.

Fusion.

The sheer absurdity of the skill left him stunned. According to the system, the skill possessed the ability to fuse anything together and create a superior version from both components.

"Damn..." Nova muttered in disbelief.

"This has to be a dream..."

If the skill truly worked the way he imagined, then it was absolutely overpowered. The possibilities alone were terrifying to think about.

Of course, there were still limitations tied to his current rank and strength. But even with those restrictions—the skill was still monstrously broken and this new class was also terrifying , it said, it would not only grow his fighting Powers on top of that it could turn his dead enemies into his dead army.

This was insane but he realised, the horror he faced was deserving of this reward and he wasn’t complaining . Still, Nova pushed all those thoughts aside. Right now, what he needed most was energy.

His exhausted body trembled slightly as he slowly forced himself back onto his feet before limply walking toward the gigantic corpse of the Moonclaw Tyrant. As he stared at the dead monster lying split apart on the dungeon floor, a faint trace of sadness appeared on his face.

Even if he had been forced to kill it to survive and clear the dungeon—he didn’t truly enjoy killing for no reason. No matter which world it was, the strong always trampled the weak.

Nova knew it better than anyone now.

Still, he didn’t want to sound hypocritical thinking about such things after everything he himself had done inside this dungeon. He had slaughtered countless beasts and fought endless battles for days while standing at death’s door over and over again.

Any ordinary person would have long gone insane even if the monsters hadn’t killed them first.

But somehow Nova endured it all.

His mental strength had increased drastically throughout these battles. At some point, his mind had unconsciously stopped thinking about fear or morality and instead focused only on one thing—survival.

Every action he took was simply another path leading away from death and because he never gave up—he was still alive now.

If he had broken down back then, he would have died long ago.

Without hesitation, Nova tore apart a fresh piece of flesh from the Moonclaw Tyrant’s corpse before shoving it into his mouth and eating it greedily. Thick dark-red blood slid down from his lips to his chest as he devoured the meat like a starving beast.

At this moment—

he looked far more monstrous than the dead creature lying before him.

Then familiar notifications appeared again.

[Warning: Extremely High Concentration of Demonic Energy Detected Within Host.]

[Mutation Skill Activated.]

[Partial Absorption Initiated.]

[Host body has begun adapting to advanced demonic energy.]

[Warning: Continued absorption may result in irreversible mutations and unknown evolutionary changes.]

Nova didn’t even bother properly reading the notifications anymore. The meat gave him strength and Mutation continuously absorbed the demonic energy without killing him.

That alone was enough.

Then suddenly—another notification appeared.

[Congratulations!]

[Host has reached the Breakthrough Point.]

[Rank Evolution Successful.]

[Current Rank: C → B]

[Host has crossed the Level 100 Threshold.]

[Natural Evolution Process Initiated.]

The moment the notification appeared, Nova suddenly collapsed onto his knees.

"OH FUCK—!"

His eyes widened violently as unbearable pain exploded throughout his body.

"What’s happening?! Why does it feel like my entire body is tearing apart?!"

Another notification appeared instantly.

[Absorbed demonic energy is synchronizing with the host’s natural evolution.]

The next moment, strange white slime-like liquid suddenly began pouring out from Nova’s mouth.

Then more followed.

The thick substance rapidly spread across his entire body from head to toe while Nova struggled helplessly on the ground. Within moments, the strange white substance completely covered him, slowly hardening around his body until it formed a giant cocoon-like shell.

At that point Nova could no longer move.

He couldn’t even speak anymore as the cocoon completely sealed him inside.

"GHAAAAAAA—!!"

Inside the cocoon-like shell, Nova’s agonizing screams echoed repeatedly as unbearable pain consumed his entire existence. It felt as though every single cell in his body was being torn apart before forcefully rebuilding itself again and again.

The pain was beyond anything he had ever experienced before. His muscles twisted violently, bones cracked repeatedly, veins burned like molten metal, and even his organs felt as though they were being ripped apart from the inside.

No matter how loudly Nova screamed in agony, the dungeon outside the cocoon remained completely silent and cold.

Only the faint sound of cracking bones and violent spasms echoed from within the white shell.

The horrifying transformation continued endlessly. Minutes felt like hours. Hours felt like days. Nova desperately tried to endure it, but eventually even his terrifying mental strength reached its limit.

His consciousness slowly began fading away. And finally unable to bear the pain any longer Nova fainted inside the cocoon.

.....

After two days—

CRACK.

Small cracks suddenly began spreading across the white cocoon with sharp crackling sounds echoing throughout the silent dungeon chamber. More and more fractures rapidly appeared over the shell, making it resemble an egg about to hatch.

For two entire days, the horrifying reforging process inside the cocoon had continued nonstop.

And now—

it was finally ending.

CRACK—CRACK—CRAAACK.

The cocoon trembled violently as blinding light began leaking out through the growing cracks. Moments later, the entire shell exploded apart with a loud sound, scattering pieces of the hardened cocoon in all directions across the dungeon floor.

A tall figure slowly emerged from the shattered cocoon as pieces of the white shell scattered across the dungeon floor. Thick white mist covered the figure entirely, making it impossible to clearly see its appearance at first.

The chamber remained silent.

Only the faint sound of drifting mist echoed through the ruined dungeon.

Little by little, the dense white fog surrounding the figure slowly began to clear away. As the mist gradually faded, the blurry silhouette standing at the center of the shattered cocoon became clearer and clearer.
