Chapter 70: Chapter 70 Christine

Christine rolled her eyes, but given her current physical state, it actually made her look rather cute.

"You think I wanted this? I, too, wish to grow up and dress in beautiful clothes—preferably get married, have a child, and play with them at home when I have nothing else to do, being a quiet housewife," Christine said with a distant look in her eyes as if she were imagining a future she had dreamt about countless times.

"But those damned beasts..." Her eyes were filled with intense hatred, and the words she uttered made Chen Ze feel a chill.

"Never mind, let’s not talk about that. I’m sorry for causing you so much trouble, but can you let me up now?" Christine struggled to move even a little as she remained in the same position with a dagger in her left hand and a Gold Coin in her right, tightly bound by the purple magical energy.

Chen Ze scratched his head. Although the misunderstanding had been cleared up...mostly cleared up, right? He wasn’t quite sure how to answer Christine’s question. He knew his restaurant housed a powerful Magic Circle, but had no idea how to control it.

"Don’t tell me you don’t know how to control this damned Magic Circle!" Christine seemed to have read Chen Ze’s meaning from his eyes.

"Who said I don’t know how! I am the owner of the restaurant! I just think..." Chen Ze tried to find an excuse to stall, hoping to figure out how to operate the Magic Circle.

Chen Ze caught her distrustful gaze and his mouth twitched.

"I just think that, although you say it was a misunderstanding, you still caused significant harm to my service staff." Chen Ze glanced at Betty, whose eyes were lifeless. Today’s incident might leave a shadow over Betty for a while.

"Look, my service staff can’t even feel the warmth and Justice of this world anymore, so I think it’s only fair that you remain trapped for a little while longer." Chen Ze nodded, giving himself a mental pat on the back for his quick thinking.

"Fine, it’s not tiring to stay in this posture anyway. I just feel a bit annoyed being gawked at like a criminal by you all," Christine conceded, knowing she was at fault, so she didn’t complain further.

One is most aware of one’s own body, and while it may be that of a little girl, the identity has brought her considerable convenience in her past missions.

Chen Ze squatted on the floor and touched the tiles, but the control panel or anything similar he was hoping for didn’t magically appear in his mind.

How should he lift the spell? Chen Ze felt he should have asked for a user manual when he first inherited the restaurant to avoid being clueless like now.

Hopefully, it would lift. After all, this was a patron, not an enemy. Chen Ze sighed, silently wishing it would happen.

A flash of purple light passed, and the next moment, Christine fell to the ground, clutching her buttocks and letting out a soft groan of pain.

"How petty can you get? You could’ve warned me before lifting the Magic Circle; it caught me off-guard and I couldn’t adjust my posture in time," Christine pouted, visibly displeased.

Chen Ze said nothing, as he didn’t expect that the Magic Circle could be deactivated with just a thought.

"Betty, please attend to the guest, and after she orders, bring me the bill," Chen Ze patted Betty on the shoulder, the poor Succubus still in shock from the recent near kidney punch by a little girl.

"Ah...okay, okay!" Betty quickly nodded, then with a complex look and even more complex emotions, she started to serve Christine, who had already returned to her seat.

"Tsk, then just give me a Buffet, and whatever’s good here, you pick something for me," Christine seemed to have dropped the little girl act, taking on a more assertive and matronly air after revealing her true identity.

"Of course. I personally recommend...the braised pork rice combo," Betty took a few deep breaths to calm herself and steady her emotions.

After taking Christine’s order, Betty was about to leave when her clothes were suddenly tugged.

Confused, Betty turned her head to find Christine looking down at the floor, her right hand clutching the corner of Betty’s dress.

"That... that... what I just did was really..." Christine murmured so softly that Betty almost didn’t catch it. freeweɓnovel.cѳm

But seeing Christine’s ears and cheeks blushing intensely, Betty’s mood mysteriously improved a lot.

"What?" Betty deliberately lowered her voice, making it sound as if she was harboring some anger.

Christine bit her teeth in mortification, unused to apologizing; she was more skilled at letting her daggers do the talking, and this situation was a first for her.

"That... I’m... sorry..." Her voice was even quieter when she uttered those last three words.

"Is that the attitude you apologize with?" Betty’s voice sounded especially icy.

Christine’s panic intensified, thinking it was an enemy before, she felt indifferent about her actions, but now knowing she almost killed someone unrelated, the remnants of good in her heart began to reproach her conscience.

Christine gritted her teeth, jumped down from the chair, and intended to apologize sincerely.

Just as Christine was about to kneel, Betty held her by the arms and lifted her back onto the chair, leaving Christine looking up in bewilderment only to see Betty struggling to hold back a laugh.

"Alright, alright, I accept your apology, no need for such grand gestures." Betty burst into laughter, then swayed her little tail and headed for the kitchen.

"Damn succubus!" Christine swung her fist in frustration, now realizing she’d been played, but regardless, she achieved her goal.

"Manager, a Buffet and a braised pork meal set." Hearing Betty’s words, Chen Ze nodded, then turned back to look at her.

"Feeling better?" Betty quickly nodded, her mood wasn’t just a bit better.

"Then that’s fine, come over and help me try this new dish." Chen Ze presented a bowl of noodles from behind him.

Approaching with curiosity, Betty had just moved a bit closer when she smelled something that could suffocate magic, and it seemed to be coming from the bowl Chen Ze was holding.

"Manager... what is this..." Betty stepped back uneasily.

"This? I’m planning to introduce a noodle dish, this is fruit noodles. Don’t you girls like eating fruit?" Chen Ze blinked, appearing very sincere.

"Could you tell me... what you put in it?" Instead of getting closer, Betty retreated even further.

"Durian, passionfruit, and grapes, but you probably don’t recognize them, come on, take a bite." Chen Ze forcefully pulled Betty over and fed her the noodles.

According to Christine’s recollection, that day in Chen Ze’s restaurant, she heard a succubus’s soprano for the first time.
