Chapter 625: Extra Story 1 The Sacred Empress of Europa
"In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, I crown you Ronna Dake as the Sacred Empress of Europa!" Pope Shelter VI solemnly lifted a crown forged of gold and studded with various gemstones, then shakily placed it upon Ronna’s head.
"Thank you, Shelter VI." Ronna Dake smiled at the elder before her. She was well aware that he did not truly wish to crown her, for this Shelter VI had been dragged out of the Church by soldiers.
"In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, I bless you, Your Majesty." Shelter VI looked deeply at Ronna. He truly had not expected that the one to create history, to unify the entire Europa Continent, would be a woman. How many heroic men must be feeling ashamed now, but...
Shelter VI glanced at the heroes and nobles in the venue, who were pretending to be happy or proud to be part of the event. He sighed helplessly as these renowned individuals had all bowed before Ronna Dake, kneeling shakily, not daring to raise their heads, not daring to look directly at the Empress who united all of Europe.
"If you are free tomorrow, could you please come to the Royal Palace? I have some matters to discuss with you, Shelter VI." Ronna smiled at Shelter VI. Her smile felt like a breath of spring, but anyone standing against her knew her methods were unusually ruthless.
Shelter VI silently gazed at the Empress before him. Of course, he understood what Ronna was thinking. After all, across Europa, the Church was slowly transitioning to a purely spiritual consolation. Divine right of kings? Nonexistent. Shelter VI was well aware that this coronation ceremony would be the last one Europe would ever have carried out by the Church.
"Of course, Empress Ronna the First, I will comply with your will," replied Shelter VI, bowing his head. In the face of Ronna’s absolute power, he had no room to resist. Now the whole of Europa was in Empress Ronna’s grip.
Ronna smiled gently, then had her subordinates send the elderly Pope on his way before settling comfortably in her chair. Bathed in sunlight, the glittering crown only added to her already regal demeanor.
"Has Your Majesty not yet chosen a prince consort?" two nobles whispered among themselves below, discussing what was essentially a piece of gossip, albeit in hushed tones.
"Yes, who wouldn’t want to be a prince consort... Becoming one means reaching the pinnacle of power!" another noble joined in the gossipy discussion.
With the end of the five-year war, Empress Ronna the First, through her unvanquished and invincible military exploits, had conquered all of Europe. Her extraordinary governance skills had also left countless prodigies feeling inferior. Empress Ronna the First freed the slaves and developed a new social structure, so anyone who dared to oppose her will was crushed into dust by her cavalry and strewn across the sea.
And such a Legendary Empress was now only twenty-five years old, young and beautiful, with no lack of suitors surrounding her. After uniting Europa, the suitors could practically line up from one end of Europe to the other.
Everyone, all the nobility wanted to know what kind of exceptional talent would be capable of capturing the Empress’s heart.
"How boring," Ronna shook her head, then stood up. At that moment, everyone in the venue knelt down, heads bowed, silent, while the fanatically loyal Royal Guardians watched over their Empress. Should anyone dare to make a move, they would be dead the next second.
"Carry on, I will attend to state affairs," Ronna said nonchalantly, waving her hand, then departed with her Royal Guards.
With Ronna’s departure, the venue once again erupted into noise. The nobles returned to their places, constantly talking about their family’s status and interests within this emerging Empire. Some were keen to curry favor, seriously declaring they would attend to their duties and align themselves with Empress Ronna the First.
Regarding these matters, Ronna paid them no heed. She went straight back to her bedroom, waved away the maids with a fluttering sleeve, closed the door behind her, and took care to mention she needed a nap. Following Ronna’s declaration of a nap, an instant hush filled the entire Royal Palace, and the royal guards, gripping their weapons, kept a vigilant watch over their surroundings.
Ronna adjusted her attire and then pulled out a key she carried on her. She unlocked a hidden door and stepped inside. Behind it was a desolate little room, housing some books, food, and tea. Ronna glanced at her pocket watch, patiently waited for a while, and then saw a simple wooden door. She smiled and pushed it open, moving through.
"Welcome to Dream Restaurant~ Oh my, is that you, Ronna~ Do you have a gift for me today?" As soon as she opened the door, Betty immediately welcomed her with open arms, grinning at Ronna. freewёbnoνel.com
"Sister Betty~" Ronna removed the crown from her head, carelessly tossed it aside, and joyously threw herself into Betty’s embrace.
"It’s Ronna. Today, Professor Moriarty and Sherlock Holmes are over there playing chess. Would you like anything to eat?" Chen Ze smiled at the girl before him and then gestured toward a spot.
"Uncle Chen Ze, today I want to eat braised pork over rice! Where’s Xiao Chenfu?" Ronna asked cheerfully, raising her hand just as she used to do. freewёbn૦νeɭ.com
"Chen Fu tore Hastur’s clothes yesterday and is now reflecting on it behind closed doors." Chen Ze nodded while picking up ingredients and added this line.
"Pfft, that little rascal is quite naughty~" Ronna couldn’t help but shake her head and smile wryly. That was Lord Hastur, after all, and his clothes were torn by Chen Fu; it really was...
Then Ronna took out a bracelet made of various flowers and handed it to Chen Ze and Betty. Chen Ze happily accepted it, and Ronna breathed a sigh of relief. Previously, when Ronna had used gemstones to make jewelry as gifts for Chen Ze and Betty, Chen Ze had given her a good talking-to, and the expressions of teachers Moriarty and Holmes had also been less than pleased.
"Where’s Sister Lafra?" Ronna then produced another wreath, this one made entirely of red flowers.
"Lafra is recuperating. Chen Fu will have a little brother or sister soon," Chen Ze said as he picked up a cleaver and began slicing the meat.
"Congratulations, Uncle Chen Ze~" Ronna said with a beaming smile.
Ronna then moved to the side and observed Holmes, whose hair had turned white, and Moriarty, both of them deeply engaged in their game of Xiangqi.
"Teachers?" Ronna called out softly.
"A true gentleman watches the game without speaking," Holmes replied without even lifting his head.
Ronna quickly covered her mouth and then sat down obediently to watch her two teachers play chess.
