Chapter 40: Chapter 40 Dragon = Big Eater? No Problem
Riesel glanced at Betty and, of course, he realized that the little fellow in front of him was a succubus, and even a substandard one at that, so he gave up the idea of quibbling further.
"Nasal Protection Spell? Exchanging that spell for a dish, I feel like I’d be getting too much of a bargain, so let’s add something else," Riesel shook his head, not wanting to take advantage of Chen Ze.
"In fact, Riesel is just pleased to hear that someone needs his spell..." Sebastian tried to expose his friend’s tsundere trait.
Riesel, with a cold face, locked Sebastian’s mouth with divine magic, and turned back to look at Sebastian coldly.
"Sebastian, no one would take you for mute if you stayed quiet, and there’s also the matter of the thousand Holy Crystals you owe me, right?"
The originally dissatisfied Sebastian immediately became much more docile, and Riesel, satisfied, clapped his hands.
What a joke? Riesel had never expected Sebastian to repay the thousand Holy Crystals he lent him.
"Then, owner, I’ll use the Nasal Protection Spell and two ingredients from our region in exchange," Riesel said as he touched his pocket, which contained the ingredients he brought with him, carefully prepared for this occasion.
However, Chen Ze’s brows furrowed, as if he was hesitating about something.
"Riesel, do you know Count Rose?" Chen Ze hesitated for a while but still asked; he couldn’t stand the fact that there was no signal in the store.
And if he didn’t resolve the issue with Betty, wouldn’t her staying here from now on be a kind of house arrest?
Riesel was clueless. "Count Rose? Who is that guy?"
Chen Ze patted the still confused Betty and repeated Riesel’s question to her.
"Count Rose is a noble from the Kingdom of Santong..." Betty guessed Chen Ze’s intention and became slightly panicked.
There is no care in the world without reason, unless it’s from family—Betty knew this all too well.
"Santong? I know that place, but I only know the King of that country. He bought a Drool Grass from me before."
"So, could you help Betty with her problem? Betty is that Count Rose’s slave... servant, and now she’s a waitress under my employ," Chen Ze chose his words carefully, not very confident.
Offending a Count of a kingdom for a waitress seemed somewhat tricky to Chen Ze.
"No problem, it’s an easy task. In a little while, after I leave, just send the waitress back as well," Riesel didn’t care at all. Count Rose? What was that?
"I’ll leave the stone tablet engraved with the Nasal Protection Spell here; you just press it when you need to use it," Riesel said as he took out a stone tablet from his pocket and placed it on the table.
"I want a hot pot just like last time, plus ten side dishes," Riesel swallowed, having been reminiscing about the last meal he had in his world.
"I’ll have the light cheesecake and Buffet... Do you have any new dishes?" Sebastian, now freed from the restraint, asked.
"Yes, I recommend the braised chicken with rice and braised pork rice set," Chen Ze nodded, definitely needing to introduce new dishes.
"Then let’s have one of each," Sebastian immediately chose a portion of each.
"Alright, please wait a moment," Chen Ze tied on his headband and went back into the kitchen.
Betty, looking at the Dragon who had settled back in his chair and started talking, felt a flash of fear, but still tried her best to pour water for them.
Chen Ze touched the stone tablet; he wanted to test the effect of the spell first.
A flicker of light passed, and Chen Ze didn’t feel any change. Being cautious, he grabbed a small handful of chili powder and gently sniffed it.
The fragrance of chili peppers, with just a touch of salt added.
Chen Ze quickly made a judgment, and what delighted him the most was that the sensation of his nostrils being irritated was gone, yet his sense of smell was not affected at all.
"Incredible magic," Chen Ze said with satisfaction as he began cooking.
Before long, Betty had served all the dragon’s dishes.
Riesel had transformed into human form early on, feeling that only in this way could he truly appreciate the pleasure of being dominated by the spicy hot pot.
Sebastian licked his lips as he faced two dishes, one a bit yellow in color, and the other a charred red.
However, both meats had one thing in common: they smelled incredibly delicious, making Sebastian’s already growling stomach protest loudly, urging his mouth to take in the two dishes.
Sebastian picked up a spoon—he still couldn’t get the hang of chopsticks and had been thoroughly mocked by Riesel for it.
With a spoonful of meat in his mouth, Sebastian showed a satisfied smile; he had never tasted such unique dishes before, especially the little yellow cubes that sprayed rich, scalding soup in his mouth with each bite.
Sebastian’s eating pace quickened, and with every bite, he felt even hungrier.
Betty took a look at Sebastian’s bowl, thinking he might ask for more.
"Manager! Another ten servings of braised pork!" Indeed, Sebastian looked up.
Betty hastily noted Sebastian’s request, then ran to the kitchen and told Chen Ze.
Then Sebastian tried the other type of meat and his eyes immediately widened, yet another dish he had never tasted before.
The meat was tender and very fresh, and paired with white rice sprinkled with sauce, Sebastian felt as if he could almost fly.
Every piece of meat was packed with robust flavor, and tasted exceptionally delicious with the soft, sticky potatoes.
Sebastian ate until his eyes squinted with pleasure; he had always thought eating was just for survival, but it wasn’t until he came here that he discovered how wonderful eating could be. freeweɓnøvel.com
Riesel didn’t pay any attention to his inexperienced friend; he was busy dipping tripe into the hot pot with his chopsticks, an odd name.
But that didn’t diminish its deliciousness, Riesel looked at the tripe covered with plenty of peppers and Sichuan peppercorns, dipped it into the sauce, and then into his mouth.
Riesel’s suppressed body couldn’t resist the numbing pleasure of the spice; his sweat soon began to pour, and his taste buds were dominated by this overpowering flavor.
Compared to the dishes here, Riesel thought that the cuisine of the Prime Material Plane was lackluster, so bland that he couldn’t muster the interest to eat it.
Betty was busy bringing out servings of braised pork from the kitchen and, turning around, had to take the chopped side dishes to Riesel.
It was busy, but fulfilling; Betty didn’t dislike this feeling, it was certainly better than being locked in a basement every day.
Chen Ze was also busy; he was making both stewed chicken in soy sauce and braised pork while slicing hot pot ingredients—the dragons all had huge appetites, and Chen Ze felt he would have to restock on ingredients soon.
Meanwhile, Chen Ze also managed to sneak in making a serving of Mapo Tofu, to a barely passable review.
"Manager! Add five more portions of stewed chicken in soy sauce and braised pork!"
"Okay."
It looks like he’ll have to wait until his break to continue making Mapo Tofu.
