Chapter 39: Chapter 39: Be Careful When Speaking Ill of Others Behind Their Back, The Person in Question Might Be Present

Betty looked at the marvelous creature before her with surprise; she had never seen such a convenient magical device. All you needed to do was twist it, and after a while, warm water would spray out.

She rubbed her little horns contentedly; it had been a long time since she had taken a hot bath.

When was the last time she had a hot bath? Betty couldn’t remember, but it seemed to be on the day she was driven out of her clan.

Feeling the warm water running over her, Betty couldn’t help but let out a small sigh.

"Such a magical device... Is this world so magical, or is the master’s status even more noble than the previous Count Rose?" Betty was somewhat uncertain.

Although the restaurant was magical and the magical devices were as well, Betty could still tell that Chen Ze was an ordinary human.

From the fabric and workmanship of his clothes, Betty could make an accurate judgment.

Of course, Chen Ze had no mind to care for Betty upstairs as he was currently sitting in a chair, looking utterly gloomy.

"This... this damn... Achoo!" Chen Ze rubbed his nose, feeling that it was still very uncomfortable.

"Damn it, can I return this?" Chen Ze took off the useless mask and now sincerely felt that having a more sensitive sense of smell was not a good thing.

If the previous irritation level of smells for Chen Ze was a 1, then now it had directly been raised to a 2—it had doubled.

Chen Ze had intended to seriously make Mapo Tofu, but after taking out the spices, he felt an impulse to give up.

Heaven knows what Chen Ze had just gone through; when he took out those spice packages, motivated by caution, he smelled them from a distance.

Chen Ze swore he kept his distance, but even so, he felt his nostrils were as if someone had stuffed them full of Sichuan pepper, black pepper, and chili powder.

Then Chen Ze kept sneezing continuously, and wearing a mask did not help at all.

"Could it be that I can’t make the dish today?" Chen Ze felt somewhat depressed; he still wanted to make the Mapo Tofu. freeωebnovēl.c૦m

After all, he had looked up many recipes and even bought all the necessary ingredients.

"Manager?" Betty’s soft and glutinous voice woke Chen Ze from his thoughts. ƒreewebηoveℓ.com

Chen Ze turned to look and saw Betty, clad in her maid outfit, come into view.

"Still fits?" Chen Ze nodded; Betty’s charm had once again elevated.

"Hmm... I think it’s quite good, not too big, not too small," Betty nodded and touched her tail.

Chen Ze was very considerate; Betty felt no discomfort in her tail or wings.

"But manager... why has the fabric here at the chest been made smaller?" Betty’s voice had a bit of a gritted teeth undertone.

As a succubus, Betty noticed that the piece of clothing had been altered.

"It’s not like you need it anyway." Chen Ze didn’t even turn his head, his plan was to try and make it by covering his nose with a wet towel.

Veins popped on Betty’s hand as she seriously considered how she might get revenge, but in the end, she sadly realized she had no way to retaliate.

After covering his nose with a wet towel, it really was much better. Although it was a bit troublesome, Chen Ze still diligently made his first Sichuan dish.

"[You have created a failed unknown object, Sichuan cuisine experience increased by 0.1 point]"

Chen Ze silently looked at the dark cuisine in front of him, pitch black, emanating an ominous aura. Its appearance likely deterred any sane person from eating it, lest they contemplate a hospital stay of several days.

Chen Ze quietly disposed of the dish, which resembled tofu, into the trash can, pondering whether or not to remove the damp towel.

Though the damp towel helped Chen Ze fend off the suffocating smell, it also affected his ability to judge.

Unconsciously, Chen Ze had grown accustomed to using his keen sense of smell to pair spices.

"What a hassle," Chen Ze muttered reluctantly, finding the assault on his sense of smell to be sheer hell.

"Manager, what’s troubling you?" Betty curiously leaned in for a look.

"Betty, huh?" Chen Ze glanced back.

Betty looked around, puzzled, really wanting to ask if there were other ... ah, not other succubi around?

"Do you know any way to lessen the olfactory assault?" Chen Ze didn’t hold much hope but asked anyway.

"Olfactory assault? I only know a boring mage who invented a so-called ’Nasal Protection Spell’. It’s said to protect the nose," Betty told the story as if it were a joke. She didn’t think anyone would be foolish enough to create such a thing.

"Funny, right, Manager? Which idiot mage would actually waste time developing such magic? It’s a sheer insult to the Goddess of Magic. She would think that mage had water in his brain."

Chen Ze’s gaze shifted behind Betty; as soon as she mentioned ’olfactory assault’, he had noticed two familiar patrons entering.

"I heard from Count Rose... that is, my previous master, that a dragon invented this spell. It’s outrageous, could it be that the dragon enjoys bathing in rotten swamps?" Betty’s smile was radiant.

However, observing the grim expression on Riesel, standing behind Betty, Chen Ze silently lit a candle for her in his heart.

It looked like Riesel was the inventor, didn’t it? With a pang of conscience, Chen Ze patted Betty’s shoulder to stop her from continuing her mockery.

"Cough cough... Betty, we have guests."

Betty hastily turned around, and in the next moment, she saw Riesel’s stern face and Sebastian trying hard to suppress a smile.

"Welcome to Dream Restaurant! What would you like to have?" Betty felt at ease, deeming the two individuals not important figures since she didn’t recognize them.

"Oh, Manager, who is this?" asked Riesel, pointing at Betty.

"She’s Betty, our new waitress," Chen Ze explained.

"Tsk, alright then, seems I can’t eat her," Riesel said, seemingly regretful.

Betty looked at Riesel in surprise; now, she wasn’t sure about his identity.

"I am that very dragon who bathes in rotten swamps and has water in his brain you just mentioned," Riesel said, eyeing Betty as if she were a piece of food.

Betty was so frightened that she dropped her notebook, and Chen Ze, seeing it soaked, thought it might be time to get a new one.

"Alright, Riesel, stop scaring Betty. I know you never eat sentient creatures," Chen Ze recalled hearing this from Sebastian.

"So, what will you have? This time, we’ll settle the meal with the Nasal Protection Spell," Chen Ze said, rubbing his hands together with excitement.
