Chapter 33: Chapter 33 Menu

Although Betty gnashed her teeth in hatred, she still didn’t dare to do anything to Chen Ze, after all, he was the one who had taken her in, and secondly, Betty didn’t think she could do anything to a mage with such profound mastery of space-time magic.

As a defective succubus, Betty was born with magic power far less than that of an ordinary succubus; she only had enough magic to cast a Small Fireball once.

"I will read, you write, and don’t get it wrong," said Chen Ze, not too concerned. After all, there was a Magic Circle in the restaurant, and he felt quite safe about his own security.

"Okay, Manager," Betty said as she picked up a graphite pencil and sat up straight.

"Write the words for dessert a little bigger," Chen Ze instructed Betty while recalling the restaurants he had visited before.

Betty nodded, then wrote a string of characters that Chen Ze couldn’t understand, but that didn’t prevent him from counting the number of characters. ƒrēewebnovel.com

These were some strange symbols, but there were clearly more than twenty characters, which obviously did not translate to just ’dessert’.

Chen Ze took a deep breath, slapped his face, and said, "Betty, can you tell me what you just wrote?"

Betty looked up blankly and said, "Manager, I just wrote ’Write the words for dessert a little bigger’ like you said."

Chen Ze suddenly wondered if, as a succubus, it was Betty’s intelligence that was defective. Could it be that she had a problem with her smarts, which was why her clan had abandoned her?

"What’s wrong with that?" Looking at Betty’s innocent expression, Chen Ze took a few deep breaths, feeling he might need to buy some Quick-acting Heart-Saving Pills, or else he might die of frustration from this foolish succubus someday.

"What I wanted you to write was just ’dessert’, not to include the rest of what I said," Chen Ze explained.

Betty blinked, tilted her head, stuck out her tongue with a smile, and even made a gesture of knocking on her head with her fist, "Okay, Manager, my bad."

"Where did you learn this from?" Chen Ze was a bit puzzled; the scene looked familiar, much like something from a cutesy anime.

"What are you talking about, Manager~ I don’t understand~" Betty said, clutching the sleeves of Chen Ze’s shirt, batting her eyelashes.

Chen Ze silently scanned the restaurant, then noticed that the TV was on, and it was playing the anime Chen Ze had recorded earlier.

Chen Ze looked at the anime, then at Betty.

"Not my fault. I accidentally pressed something black while I was wiping the table, and then pictures suddenly appeared on it," Betty quickly shook her head, indicating that it wasn’t her responsibility.

"So I thought, maybe you, Manager, liked this kind of stuff."

Chen Ze shook his head, thinking that he should not leave the remote control here in the future.

"It’s just watching TV, no big deal, but be careful not to let other customers see it in the future," Chen Ze said, a bit worried that if the characters from this other world saw the stuff on TV, it might corrupt their culture and he might end up being held accountable by the chief god of that world.

Thinking about a bunch of demons deliberately acting cute, holding someone’s hand and whining, "Don’t, don’t want to~ I don’t want to~" gave Chen Ze a shiver.

If those dragons saw their relatives being used as tools for farming resources in the anime, they might blow up the TV with a breath of dragon fire, and the loss would be Chen Ze’s.

"Alright, Manager." Seeing Chen Ze’s serious expression, Betty gave up on her playful thoughts and neatly wrote ’dessert’ on the paper.

Watching from behind, Chen Ze noticed that this time Betty wrote two lines, different characters in each. Chen Ze guessed that one line was in the common language of the mainland and the other was in Demonic Language.

Chen Ze had to admit, Betty’s handwriting was beautiful, even if he couldn’t understand it.

"What’s next, Manager?" Betty looked back after finishing writing and noticed that Chen Ze had not spoken for a while.

"Ah? Okay, continue." Chen Ze shook his head; watching Betty write reminded him of the times he used to help Star with her homework when she was young.

"Eh~ Boss, could it be that you were so enchanted by watching me~" Betty twisted her waist and gave Chen Ze a sultry glance from the corner of her eyes.

"I’ve said it, I’m not interested in flat chests." Chen Ze was expressionless.

"You!"

"All right, keep writing, light cheesecake." Chen Ze interrupted Betty, otherwise, this menu would take ages to finish.

Betty bit her lip as she resumed writing; she really hadn’t seen a human who could resist the allure of a succubus so well. All the other men she’d met gazed at her like starving wolves eyeing a piece of meat.

Aside from his initial distraction, Chen Ze showed no further reaction, which made Betty start to doubt her own charm.

"Manager, you’re not impotent, are you?" Betty had finished writing ’light cheesecake’.

Chen Ze rolled his eyes, cut half of the light cheesecake with a knife, handed it to Betty, and decided to eat the other half himself.

"Really impotent? Boss, would you like me to recommend a secret of the Succubus Clan..." Betty’s tail wiggled excitedly.

"I’ll take it away if you don’t eat it!"

"I’ll eat!"

Watching Betty sit obediently in her chair, nibbling on the cake, Chen Ze couldn’t help but sigh. Why was this succubus so annoying? He would have had more peace if he hadn’t hired her as a waitress in the first place.

Betty grabbed the cake with her hand and stuffed it into her mouth, taking a slow bite.

The perfect sweetness, the soft texture; it brought more pleasure to Betty than she had remembered feeling in a long time. When was the last time she had such a wonderful dessert? It seemed to be during the last meal with her clan.

Seeing Betty’s satisfied expression while eating the cake made Chen Ze smile. He ate the cake he made himself, but could only say it was delicious, unable to identify any flaws. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm

A piece of cake wasn’t much, especially for two people to share, and it was gone before long. Chen Ze wiped his mouth, put on his headscarf, and returned to the kitchen. He had more dishes to prepare; today, he intended to finish the menu.

"Twenty servings of Buffet." As soon as he heard this order, Chen Ze knew who had arrived.

Chen Ze poked his head out and saw that indeed, Stan was already sitting at a table, quietly waiting for his dessert.

Betty, on the other hand, was shaking nervously. The moment this being had entered, she was stunned. After all, she was aware of his reputation, hailed as the most powerful contender to become the next Lord of the Negative Plane from the Undead Race.

"Your Majesty, the King of Undead..." Betty’s trembling words were incomplete.

Stan turned his head to glance at her before turning back to wait for his dessert, a mere succubus.

Betty immediately knelt on the ground; Stan’s gaze felt to her like the scrutiny of a deity.

"Betty, attend to the guest! Remember what we discussed before?" Chen Ze had to remind Betty with a sigh. Otherwise, she might have stayed kneeling on the ground indefinitely.

"Okay... okay..." Betty shakily got up, and looking at Stan, who became curious after hearing Chen Ze, she swallowed hard.

"You... Welcome, dear guest, to Dream Restaurant!"
