Chapter 32: Chapter 32 The Clerk is a Succubus

If you suddenly found a question on Quora asking, "What’s it like to have a succubus as a waitress?"

Chen Ze would feel he’s the most qualified to answer this question. No one else on Earth could possibly have more authority than him.

After hiring Succubus Betty as a waitress, Chen Ze faced various inconveniences.

"Manager, what should I do if there is no water to wash the dishes?" Watching Betty, with a confused expression, trying to use the water from a dirty bucket to wash the dishes made the corner of Chen Ze’s mouth twitch.

"This is a faucet. When you twist it like this, clean water will come out. Do not use water from any other place to wash," Chen Ze had to give Betty specific instructions else she might cause more troubles.

"Understood, master... I mean, Manager." Barely stopping herself from saying those two words, Betty corrected herself under Chen Ze’s stern gaze.

However, it had to be said that Betty’s learning ability was strong. At least whenever Chen Ze answered her questions, she continued to work on her own thereafter.

She washed the dishes very clean and even tightly turned off the faucet after finishing, avoiding leaving the tap running.

Watching Betty, who was now holding a cloth and a small bucket to wipe down tables, Chen Ze didn’t say anything and bowed his head to continue cooking the braised chicken. He wanted to make an even better braised chicken.

In the empty restaurant, the only sounds were Chen Ze cooking and the clanking of chains.

Chen Ze looked at the cleaver in his hand, unsure whether it could sever the chain between Betty’s ankles.

Moreover, Chen Ze was a bit worried that if he carelessly touched the chains, it could trigger some magic trap and jeopardize Betty’s safety.

"Tch, I wonder when Stan or Sebastian will come," Chen Ze grumbled as he chopped off the chicken’s head and put it aside.

Of all the otherworldly visitors Chen Ze had met so far, the most powerful were Sebastian, Riesel, and Stan.

This pair of dragons and the undead could communicate with him directly using their minds. For the others, he needed the help of Arcane Wisdom.

"By the way, Betty, can you write?" Chen Ze suddenly remembered something he had been wanting to do.

"Write? Yes, I can write in Demonic Language and the common language of the mainland," answered Betty, working hard to wipe the tables.

"Tell me about the scripts and languages you know," said Chen Ze, glancing at the braising chicken, clapping his hands, and taking off his headband.

"Manager, you’re interested in such strange things," Betty said with a cute laugh that made Chen Ze pause for a moment.

No matter what, Betty was still a succubus, and even if she was a subpar one, she was still full of charm for an ordinary person like Chen Ze.

A burst of light rose from beneath Chen Ze’s feet and enveloped his head.

A strange, cool sensation helped Chen Ze snap out of it, and when he looked at Betty again, she didn’t seem as attractive as before.

"Is this the effect of a Magic Circle..." Chen Ze scratched his head, realizing that this magical restaurant had many secrets yet to be discovered.

"In our place, there are two planes, the positive and the negative," Betty began as if she hadn’t noticed the fleeting light around Chen Ze.

"The primary language of the positive plane is the common language of the mainland. Since humans are the most numerous and the strongest, other species also speak the common language," Betty continued, her tone revealing a hint of disdain when mentioning humans.

However, Betty quickly waved her hand apologetically at Chen Ze, noticeably anxious, remembering that the person who took her in was also human.

"The more people and power you have, the more you can do whatever you want," Chen Ze said, not bothered by Betty’s tone. Although he didn’t know the specifics, it was clear someone had treated Betty poorly.

"Right, humans are indeed the dominant force on the positive plane," said Betty, relieved.

"Then there’s the negative plane, where Demonic Language and Undead Language are popular. Each race has its own language system. Whether you use Undead Language or Demonic Language commonly depends on the ruler of the negative plane," Betty’s explanation piqued Chen Ze’s interest.

The master of the negative plane—that sounded impressive.

"I am a succubus, so I speak Demonic Language. I learned the common language of the mainland from humans," she said calmly, although the sound of her chains clinking indicated that she wasn’t entirely at peace.

"Alright, then Betty, please use the common language of the mainland and Demonic Language to help me write a menu," Chen Ze said as he handed her two A4 papers.

Betty looked at Chen Ze in surprise, as she had originally thought that her new owner would ask about her past.

"Boss... Manager, aren’t you curious about my past?" Betty couldn’t help but ask.

Chen Ze gave her an odd look. "If you don’t want to talk about it, why should I ask you?"

"Besides, I’ve always felt that digging up things others have hidden away in their hearts and don’t want to reveal is quite cruel," said Chen Ze as he tied on his headscarf, planning to cook one of each dish he could make in order to take photos for the menu.

Betty watched Chen Ze head into the kitchen and sat down on a chair, looking dazed.

"Hey! Manager, at least tell me what I should write!"

The corner of Chen Ze’s mouth twitched. He had thought that by acting this way, he would receive comments like, "The owner is so gentle."

"I want to have the gentle owner’s babies!"

"I love the manager the most."

He had not expected an outcome like this.

"You’re so annoying, just write it after I’m done," Chen Ze snapped his fingers.

Betty’s smile grew even more delightful. She stretched languidly and picked up a rag beside her, continuing to wipe down the tables.

Hearing the familiar sound of an anklet, Chen Ze felt a bit puzzled, wondering why it seemed like Betty was in such a good mood.

"Maybe she remembered something happy," Chen Ze shook his head and continued to focus on cooking. If the ingredients were wrong, the light cheesecake would turn into a ’caramel’ cake.

Before long, Chen Ze brought out a light cheesecake and a chilling buffet, both emitting a rich aroma.

Then Chen Ze heard the sound of continuous swallowing.

But he couldn’t blame Betty; after all, the light cheesecake had triggered a random effect.

[You have made a regular light cheesecake]

[The regular light cheesecake has obtained a tenfold fragrance effect]

"Come write the menu. I’ll share half of this light cheesecake with you after you’re finished," Chen Ze placed the cake on the table.

The next moment, Betty pounced over, taking an A4 paper and sitting obediently to the side.

Chen Ze passed her a pen. "You can use this, right?" freēwēbηovel.c૦m

Betty tried to write a little and nodded her head.

"Write it bigger and neater, no mistakes," Chen Ze moved behind Betty, intending to watch her write.

"Manager~ are you trying to peek at me~" Betty glanced at Chen Ze seductively.

After all, the clothes she was wearing were a bit low.

Chen Ze rolled his eyes.

"Sorry, but I’m not interested in peeking at a flat chest."

"..."

If it weren’t for the restrictions, Betty would have considered rushing up to hammer Chen Ze.

What’s wrong with being flat-chested? Did a flat chest eat your magic bread or something?
