Chapter 24: Chapter 24 I, Sebastian, acknowledge you as the strongest

"What is this!" (in Dragon Language) Sebastian suddenly covered his mouth. He felt that what he had just eaten was not meat but the most corrosive kind of negative magma.

Riesel’s face turned red. He now deeply regretted his previous suggestion. Why not eat good cooking instead of choosing to court death?

"Big brother, what are they saying?" Chen Xingchen was completely baffled, unable to understand the incomprehensible language.

Chen Ze shook his head and pointed towards a slate in the kitchen, "I haven’t used Arcane Wisdom, so I don’t understand either."

"Then how did you communicate with them before?" Chen Xingchen glanced at Chen Ze, suspecting that her older brother simply didn’t want to tell her the truth.

Chen Ze glanced at the restaurant where the two Dragons were now sprawled over the table, thumping it.

He was not worried about any problems. He had tried before, whether hammering with a hammer or chopping with a kitchen knife, neither could leave a mark on it.

The furniture in this restaurant was terrifyingly sturdy. Though made of wood, it was as solid as alloy.

"You don’t understand, huh? These otherworldly guests, the powerful ones, often use something similar to Mind Communication, so before, they communicated directly with my mind." Chen Ze smugly patted his chest.

"I really don’t know where this inexplicable pride of yours comes from," Chen Xingchen said with a hollow look in her eyes.

Sebastian finally recovered. Just now, he felt like he was about to die, as if bathing in holy water, feeling uncomfortable all over.

Sebastian picked up the ice water Chen Ze had provided and drank it in one gulp, which eased the discomfort in his throat a little.

"Riesel? Are you okay?" Sebastian, looking at the pale Riesel beside him, ’kindly’ patted him on the back with his hand.

If it weren’t for the strength of the pat, Riesel might have believed that the other was genuinely concerned about him.

"If you hadn’t suggested I use my de-devolving ability, I wouldn’t have been tormented by this thing to the point of wishing for death," Sebastian patted even harder.

Riesel rolled his eyes. He hadn’t expected the gap between what he had eaten earlier, supposedly spicy, and what he was experiencing now, to be so vast. It was like the difference between an ordinary human and a top professional.

"But don’t you think it’s quite delicious?" Riesel wiped his mouth, realizing that despite the extreme pain of wolfing it down, feeling like someone was stabbing his throat, the aftertaste was unexpectedly delicious.

Sebastian gave Riesel a look reserved for idiots. He now suspected that Riesel had awakened some strange new predilection.

"If you want to be masochistic, do it yourself; I’m going to revert my devolving," he said.

Sebastian muttered a spell and his pupils returned to being vertical. Then he picked up another piece of meat, dipped it into the sauce, and ate it.

"Hmm... after reversing the devolving, that spicy feeling isn’t so intense anymore, but it’s indeed quite tasty," Sebastian nodded with satisfaction. The difference between a Dragon’s and a human’s body was indeed too great.

Chen Ze sighed in disappointment. Had his cooking still not reached the level to knock out a Dragon... wait, why did he even think about knocking out a Dragon?

"Brother, it seems you’ve had your fill of watching," Chen Xingchen noticed that the two Dragons weren’t blaming Chen Ze and let out a sigh of relief. Then she looked at Chen Ze with a smile.

Chen Ze stiffly turned his head.

"Well, sister, you see, I am after all the owner of the restaurant, right? So I definitely have to prioritize serving the guests, right?" Chen Ze quickly explained, not wishing to find out how fearsome his sister was at the moment. freёwebnoѵel.com

"Oh? Is that so?" Chen Xingchen leaned in, smiling.

With a "snap", a sharp sound, Chen Ze looked down to see that a pair of compasses had somehow dropped to the floor.

"Oh my, how did my compass fall?" Chen Xingchen picked up the compass, its sharp needle flashing under the light.

Chen Ze couldn’t help but swallow hard.

"Eh? Big bro, what are you scared of?" Chen Xingchen leaned even closer.

"I’m a student, so it’s perfectly normal for me to carry a compass around, right?"

With a "snap", Chen Ze looked down and saw a crafting knife.

"Like I said, I’m a student. I even had art class today, so it’s totally normal for me to have a crafting knife on me, right?" Chen Xingchen picked up the knife and casually waved it around.

But there was a faint sense of menace, and Chen Ze immediately felt that the crafting knife could slash across his neck at any moment.

If only he had known better than to let Stan pay for his meal with that Combat Technique. Chen Ze truly regretted not insisting Stan choose something else—now his sister was becoming more frightening by the day.

"Manager! Two more servings of hot pot side dishes!" Sebastian’s voice was like music to Chen Ze’s ears.

"Coming right up!"

By the time Sebastian and Riesel were satisfied, it was already ten-thirty at night. Chen Ze wiped the sweat from his forehead; he’d almost had a breakdown from all the chopping. If Chen Xingchen hadn’t pitied him and lent a hand, Chen Ze thought he might have collapsed from exhaustion.

"Manager, what should we use to pay this time?" Riesel kept drinking ice water.

"Riesel, I can’t believe you’ve really awakened..." Sebastian looked at Riesel strangely. That level of spiciness would normally be unbearable for a human body, but Riesel hadn’t reverted to his true form and had endured the entire meal in his human guise.

In terms of masochism, I, Sebastian, must declare you the strongest.

"Let’s go with ingredients from your place then. I’ve been really curious about your local ingredients lately, wondering if I can create some unique dishes." Chen Ze eyed the empty dipping sauce bowl in front of Riesel, his mouth twitching.

"Ingredients?" Riesel stroked his chin, appearing like a handsome man, if one could overlook the gaping mouth and dribble running down from the corners.

"Let’s pay with that next time we come. This time, we’ll use something else."

Reisel pulled a small box from his pocket—how he managed to fit it in there was anybody’s guess.

Maybe that’s what magic is about? Chen Ze didn’t dwell on it too much. Trying to maintain a normal perspective while serving these guests would sooner or later drive him insane.

Riesel opened the box, and it was filled with Gold Coins, as well as two thumb-sized gems.

Chen Ze inhaled sharply, deepening his understanding of the Dragon Clan’s staggering wealth.

"Next time we come, we’ll bring the ingredients with us," Riesel said, smiling as he dragged an unconscious Sebastian out of the restaurant.

"My god..." Chen Xingchen’s face was a picture of astonishment; she had never seen such large gems before.

Unlike the items Stan had provided before, these were purely gems, with no other purpose.

"You must be hungry too, Star?" Chen Ze checked his phone—it was already eleven, and he hadn’t had dinner yet.

"I had instant noodles since I saw how busy you were; I didn’t feel right asking you to cook."

"Eating instant noodles isn’t good for you. I’ll make you some braised pork," Chen Ze said, shaking his head as he returned to the kitchen.

"How does life at school feel?" Chen Ze asked as he began slicing the pork.

"Um... how to put it? I often feel out of place for being too normal," she replied.

"Oh... ah?"
