Chapter 219: Chapter Seventy-Nine: The Inability to Fly is a Fatal Flaw

Chen Ze was a bit conflicted, as he hadn’t quite made it as a mentor yet. Up to now, only two customers had come in today, and neither was able to meet Chen Ze’s goal.

In Stan’s case, Chen Ze had made an effort to prepare dishes suitable for Stan, but it was the other way around with Liu Maoxing.

Chen Ze had learned a lot from his senior chef Liu Maoxing, even about aspects of cooking he had never considered before, like the importance of knife skills.

Overall, the results were very good, and Chen Ze was quite satisfied. Now, all he had to do was wait for Liu Maoxing to come back next time, hopefully bringing Ryan with him, and Chen Ze could continue his culinary studies.

"Manager, why do you seem a bit off today?" Betty hesitated for a moment, but still asked. Otherwise, she felt she would suffocate from holding it in.

"Really? I’m dressed the same as usual." Chen Ze quickly checked his clothes, finding nothing amiss—just his regular chef’s uniform.

"Not that. I mean... when you were cooking today, there was a weird sensation." Betty tossed the remaining iceberg lettuce into the utility room bucket. The chunk of lettuce was so big that it still made a lot of water after melting.

Chen Ze scratched his head. "A weird sensation?"

"Yeah, I can’t quite put my finger on it, but it felt different from how you usually are." Betty brought in some plates and pondered while she washed them.

"So do you think it’s a good or bad thing?" Chen Ze yawned. The number of customers today was a bit low, and he had been feeling quite sleepy lately.

Maybe it’s because spring has arrived? Chen Ze thought it was very likely, as people tend to feel sleepy in springtime.

"I can’t really say." Betty quickly finished washing the dishes and went out. ƒree𝑤ebnσvel.com

Chen Ze looked at his hands. Could he have really changed? But he saw no strange changes, no horns growing, nor had he become more handsome; his hairline hadn’t receded further, which was a relief worth celebrating.

"Is this a restaurant? Hmm? Providing dishes as per my request?" A stranger’s voice entered alongside the sound of the wind chime.

"Welcome to Dream Restaurant, esteemed guest~" Betty’s energetic voice followed.

Chen Ze’s curiosity was piqued, and he went out to take a look. He was always very interested in meeting new customers, as each one represented the unknown.

Then, Chen Ze saw a young man with a distinctive hat, carrying a backpack and looking full of vitality.

"Hello, I’m Ash from Pallet Town! I’m currently striving to become a Pokémon Master!" Ash said with a smile, offering his hand, from behind which a fuzzy yellow creature leapt out.

"Pika~pika~" This yellow creature was, of course, Pikachu, just like in the anime, only this Pikachu resembled more the one from Detective Pikachu.

"Here it is! The man from Pallet Town!" Chen Ze was so excited he almost jumped up. This was quite the celebrity.

Ash from Pallet Town, also known as the Pallet man, probably because Ash’s character has surpassed the ordinary standards of an Earth person.

Carrying a Pokémon weighing over forty kilograms up a mountain, tossing a Pokémon weighing more than a hundred kilograms, or casually holding up a Pokémon close to a ton in weight—all deeds he had accomplished.

Chen Ze once thought Ash had these abilities probably thanks to the lifelong shocks from the Skin God.

"What would you like to eat?" Betty asked, smiling at Ash, but Chen Ze was sure her succubus eyes were fixated on Pikachu.

It had to be said, the fuzzy Pikachu was really cute, exuding charm, and the kind that would make girls unable to resist wanting to cuddle it.

"Eh? Is there any special cuisine? I just want a regular set meal, but I’d like to prepare something for Pikachu to eat." Ash, true to his reputation as being worldly, hadn’t paid any mind to the tail and wings behind Betty.

Betty looked towards Chen Ze with a bit of difficulty on her face. Although Pikachu was adorable, Betty really didn’t know what it ate.

Chen Ze stroked his chin and then nodded his head; he would find a solution to this problem, but before that, there was a question he absolutely had to ask.

"Hello, Ash, I want to ask you a question," Chen Ze approached with a serious look.

"Eh?" Ash was a bit puzzled. Could it be that dining in this restaurant also required answering questions? But that was fine, as long as it wasn’t a restaurant where you had to battle for your meal or a table. Although, he wasn’t afraid of battling either.

"Has Groudon gone home yet?" Ash felt like the man in front of him was almost shining with curiosity.

"Groudon?" Ash shook his head, indicating he had never heard of the name.

Chen Ze sighed with regret; it seemed that the days of tormenting Groudon hadn’t come yet, as Ash hadn’t been to Abundant Location.

"It’s nothing, please wait for a moment," Chen Ze signaled to Betty and then headed back to the kitchen.

Betty naturally poured a cup of iced cola for both Ash and Pikachu and then kept her gaze on the fluffy Pikachu.

Ash scratched his head awkwardly, having certainly noticed Betty’s intense look— it was so strong that one couldn’t just ignore it.

"Do you... want to touch it?" Ash asked hesitantly.

"Sure!" Betty immediately stretched out her hand and gently touched Pikachu’s head.

Pikachu tilted its head, looking at Betty, and adorably cried out, "Pika~ Pikachu~"

"Awsl!"

Chen Ze didn’t pay attention to the frolics in the restaurant, instead focusing on frying pork chops and contemplating what kind of cuisine to prepare for Pikachu.

In the world of Pokémon, although most Pokémon ate food similar to cat food, which also had a great attraction to wild Pokémon, Chen Ze didn’t know how to make cat food.

Moreover, Pikachu had dined with Ash before, so Chen Ze wanted to make a dish that was more suitable for Pikachu.

Chen Ze was a bit conflicted; Pikachu was an Electric-type Pokémon. If he made an Electric-type cuisine, would it be more suitable for Pikachu’s palate?

If it was an ordinary chef, there would be no solution to this problem, since electricity generally cannot be used in cooking, let alone incorporated into the dish itself.

But Chen Ze naturally had his own methods. He opened the cupboard and took out a dark cleaver, which Lafra had enchanted for him.

Chen Ze had initially asked Lafra to enchant some strangely shaped cleavers for him, and this Thunder Blade was one of them.

"A cleaver enchanted with thunder should be able to make Electric-type cuisine, right?" Chen Ze picked up the cleaver and hesitated not a bit as he sliced down a piece of pork chop.

"Bili bili... Zzzt!" A dazzling flash of lightning burst out from the kitchen, almost blinding Betty.
