Chapter 142: Chapter 2 The Third Generation: There Must Be Something Fishy
Chen Ze of course didn’t know what kind of consequence his well-intending suggestion had brought to the snake priests; in fact, even if he knew, Chen Ze wouldn’t care too much.
After all, being an idol was far better than being a hostess, at least if it were up to Chen Ze to decide, he would choose to be an idol.
Chen Ze yawned, quickly brushed his teeth and washed his face, then went downstairs to open the door, planning to continue experimenting with his alcohol today.
"Uncle! I want today’s special set meal!" Chen Ze’s mouth twitched as he peeked outside.
The yellow-haired Naruto was sitting casually on the chair, swinging some money around in his hand, which looked to be about 200 ryō.
"Yo, Naruto, feel like having dumplings today?" Chen Ze greeted Naruto with a smile.
"Hehe, is today’s set meal dumplings?" Naruto wiped his drooling mouth.
"Well... the special set meal wasn’t going to be that, but seeing how much you want to eat them, I’ll make a serving just for you." Chen Ze tied on his headband and then noticed that his door had been pushed open.
A sneaky character walked in and quickly hid under the tables and chairs.
Anbu or Akatsuki? Chen Ze certainly didn’t believe that the Jinchuriki of the Nine-Tails coming and going from his restaurant would go unnoticed; it was only a matter of time. frёeωebɳovel.com
But he didn’t expect them to come so fast, Naruto’s second visit and already a Konoha ninja was tailing him.
Chen Ze didn’t get too tangled up about it, let them come; after all, his place was just an ordinary restaurant.
Chen Ze went back into the kitchen, planning to make a batch of boiled dumplings and a batch of pan-fried ones.
Making dumplings wasn’t difficult, especially for Chen Ze now. Apart from rolling out the dough which still wasn’t very good, he felt like he could do all the other steps with his eyes closed.
Soon, a delicious aroma filled the restaurant, causing Naruto, who was outside drinking lemonade, to swallow his saliva uncontrollably.
As Chen Ze boiled dumplings, he checked on the ninja hiding under the table through a Magic Circle.
The guy was quietly lying on the floor, motionless, probably thinking that Chen Ze hadn’t noticed him.
Without a hint of notice, Chen Ze carried out the dumplings and placed them in front of Naruto.
"Naruto, here are the boiled dumplings, dip them in this." Chen Ze passed over a dish of dipping sauce, and then slid a clove of garlic his way.
In Chen Ze’s place, you had to eat dumplings with garlic, even though he didn’t particularly like it, he had gotten used to it over time.
"I’m digging in!" Naruto was still as energetic as ever. Chen Ze walked back into the kitchen and took another plate of dumplings to the table where the ninja was lying.
"Hey, come out and have some. Just remember to pay for your meal," Chen Ze kicked the ninja who still thought he was undetected.
The guy was clearly stunned for a moment and then quickly rolled out, holding a kunai and warily watching Chen Ze.
"Don’t be so nervous, I’m just a chef." Chen Ze felt the urge to roll his eyes.
"A regular chef can’t see through my disguise." The ninja wearing the Fox Mask observed Chen Ze cautiously.
He couldn’t detect any chakra from Chen Ze, but how could such an ordinary person have discovered him?
"Eat if you want to, leave if you don’t want to eat. Leave my restaurant." Chen Ze went back into the kitchen to continue making pan-fried dumplings.
The ninja hesitated for a moment, then glanced over at Naruto who kept sneakily peeking at him and ultimately decided to stand at the door and wait.
Eating was out of the question; what if there was poison in these dumplings?
When Chen Ze brought out the pan-fried dumplings, he saw Naruto had already finished the boiled ones and was stealthily glancing at the others on the separate table.
And the Fox Mask ninja was still holding his kunai, staring at him like he was looking at an enemy.
Chen Ze originally wanted to get angry, but then he thought about how he had lured away someone else’s strategic nuclear weapon. It would be strange not to consider him an enemy.
"Naruto, how come you have money to eat today?" Chen Ze passed another plate of dumplings to Naruto.
"Because... I found some money in Wagairu Alley." Naruto patted his chest with effort, feeling like he was about to choke.
Chen Ze silently handed over a can of cola, and Naruto quickly took a big gulp before he could finally breathe a sigh of relief.
"I found some money on the road, uncle, so I can come here to eat... eat..." Clearly, Naruto’s arithmetic was not very good.
"Three meals, Naruto," Chen Ze said as he poured another can of cola for Naruto.
What a joke, could Naruto actually find money? Was he that lucky?
Chen Ze didn’t believe it at all. Surely, the Third Hokage, who secretly spied on Naruto, had discovered some problem and then secretly dropped two hundred taels outside Naruto’s door.
It seemed that although the Third Hokage claimed he hardly helped Naruto with his life, at least he was very concerned about Naruto’s safety.
However...
Chen Ze looked at Naruto’s belly, and through the Magic Circle, he could see a pocket-sized fox.
If Naruto did not have the Nine-Tails sealed inside him, what would his childhood have been like? What about his future?
Chen Ze was very curious, but there were no such ifs.
"Naruto, here’s your chiffon cake, to go," Chen Ze handed over the already packaged chiffon cake to Naruto.
"Oh yeah, Naruto, come here, let me tell you something..." Chen Ze pulled Naruto over and whispered a few words to him.
With the Magic Circle blocking, the ninja who seemed to be from the Anbu didn’t hear what Chen Ze said.
"Thank you, uncle!" Naruto happily walked off with the cake, while the ninja waited a bit longer before pushing the door and leaving.
Chen Ze looked at the table; there were ten taels left. No wonder he felt something was off when he picked it up—there was one dumpling missing.
It seemed that a certain ninja who claimed he wouldn’t eat still took a bite and left money for it.
Having made seventy taels just after opening, Chen Ze thought it was not bad, even though it was of little use, but it sure seemed like a good start.
Meanwhile, in Konoha, Naruto, happy with his chiffon cake, got home to find a piece missing.
"Eh? And it’s exactly the piece uncle mentioned?" Naruto scratched his head and carefully took a small piece to taste.
"So sweet..." Naruto blissfully squinted his eyes.
"Water! Give me water!" The ninja who had taken a piece of Naruto’s cake back to the Hokage Building shouted in agony.
Although he had checked the cake with ninjutsu and found it wasn’t poisonous or inedible, it still felt like he had eaten a handful of hot chili peppers upon biting into it.
The really hot kind!
"Where’s that cake?" The Fox Mask ninja’s face turned pale. Even though the cake wasn’t poisonous, wasn’t it too spicy?
"Is it this red thing?" asked the Third Hokage, curiously looking at the cake in his hands with a layer of red filling inside.
The ninja, who had recovered somewhat, quickly reported his recent experience.
"A restaurant? That’s quite interesting. Such advanced space-time ninjutsu, and it’s being used to run a restaurant?"
