Chapter 113: Chapter 5: Saury
"The flavor of saury, the cat and I both want to understand~" hummed Chen Ze as he placed the saury he had bought on the cutting board.
This morning when he woke up, Chen Ze had received a recipe from Chen Xingchen, which detailed how to prepare Lemon Saury.
Chen Ze wasn’t particularly fond of fish, a sentiment stemming from a traumatic experience during his childhood when he choked on a fish bone.
However, Chen Ze did know a bit about saury, having listened to Director Zhou’s song about it numerous times.
"Is this really Japanese cuisine, though?" Chen Ze couldn’t help but feel that Lemon Saury didn’t quite seem like Japanese Cuisine.
"I’ve also asked Star to look for an unagi donburi recipe, but I don’t know when I’ll be able to get it," Chen Ze yawned.
It had to be said, not having classes was truly great, but not being able to open the door to earn money was making Chen Ze a little anxious.
Although customers from the other world could still come to eat as usual, it was the inability to earn money from the other guests in Sun Moon City that posed a real problem.
Chen Ze opened WeChat on his phone and glanced at it, noticing he’d spent more than five hundred on ingredients, including sheep tails.
"But it still seems to be not quite enough..." Chen Ze felt dejected, contemplating that at this rate, he might have to consider bringing out instant noodles to get by for a while. fɾēewebnσveℓ.com
"Manager, I’ve delivered the goods." Chen Ze’s eyes lit up; he remembered that voice belonged to Alisa.
Chen Ze hurried outside and saw Alisa sitting cheerfully in a chair.
"Alisa, long time no see." If Chen Ze didn’t believe that no one would dare default on payment, he might have thought something happened to Alisa.
After all, it had been quite some time since he asked Alisa to procure ingredients from another world.
"Yes, here are your goods, this is the procurement list." Alisa removed a ring from her finger, set it down on the table, and also placed a piece of paper alongside it. fгeewebnovёl.com
A twitch formed at the corner of Chen Ze’s mouth, and although he possessed Arcane Wisdom, which allowed him to interact with guests from another world, understanding the script of another world was a bit too much to ask.
"Just tell me directly," Chen Ze said, taking the ring without knowing how to use it.
"This time I bought you Lunar Whisper Herbs..." Alisa took out a vegetable from the ring that looked very much like cabbage.
"Then there’s Bode’s Whiskers." Another strange-looking vegetable appeared; without Alisa’s explanation, Chen Ze might have thought it was a shaven beard from some old gentleman.
"I also got Andemar Fruit, Li Jie..." Alisa continued, pulling out a large amount of vegetables and fruit-like items from the Space Ring.
"Since living creatures can’t be put into the Space Ring, I bought fifty Bill Cattle, all of them butchered, and a hundred Ace Birds, as well as some fish from our world, quite a few of them." Chen Ze nodded. He had never heard of any of these things and had no idea what they might taste like; it seemed he had a busy day ahead.
"Okay, how does this ring work?" Chen Ze was puzzled.
"Just infuse it with a little Magic Power, I didn’t imprint any magic marks," Alisa said, rubbing her stomach.
"Speaking of which, I am more in the mood for eating something right now." Alisa longed for Chen Ze’s cooking.
"Sure, what would you like to have?" Chen Ze tied his headscarf and clapped his hands excitedly.
He had created his first glowing dish yesterday, giving Chen Ze a bit of confidence in his culinary skills.
"Curry pork cutlet rice, and give me a dessert too, no drinks please, I don’t feel like drinking anything recently," Alisa ordered with a smile.
"Is it because you’re not feeling well?" Chen Ze asked curiously.
"No, it’s because I went to the fishmen’s market to buy some fish... Never mind, I don’t want to talk about this topic." Alisa waved her hand, her face a bit pale.
Chen Ze became even more curious. What on earth had happened?
However, Chen Ze didn’t press further. Instead, he returned to the kitchen; he had to get the dish Alisa wanted ready.
Curry pork cutlet rice—Chen Ze could pretty much make it with his eyes closed by now, and in no time, he whipped up an ordinary serving.
’The curry powder is running low as well...’ Chen Ze was a bit stressed. He had bought quite a lot of ingredients today, but not much curry powder.
"Boss, your cooking skills are getting better and better." Alisa took a bite of the curry pork cutlet rice and sighed in praise.
"Haha, I’m okay, but I still have a big gap compared to top chefs." Chen Ze answered while rolling out dough.
Having encountered many chefs, especially after witnessing Liu Maoxing’s cooking skills, Chen Ze realized that although he had improved compared to the average person, he was still too green compared to these chefs.
Chen Ze looked at the dough he was rolling and curled his lip; it was nothing compared to the white-case master at the school. His skill was blown away to the point where not even the dregs remained.
"No rush, no rush..." Chen Ze took a deep breath. He had a system, after all. What was there to fear? Sooner or later, he could catch up with those great chefs.
"Alisa, would you like some thin-skinned buns?" Chen Ze popped his head out and asked.
"Sure, give me two portions to take away." Alisa swallowed the pork cutlet in her mouth and patted her chest.
She had eaten too quickly just now and burnt her mouth.
"Okay." Chen Ze weighed the Bier beef that Alisa had brought out.
Chen Ze had a bold idea: he planned to try incorporating ingredients from another world into Huaxia’s cuisine.
"Half and half should do... Splitting it fifty-fifty seems good... Fifty-fifty? I, Lu Benwei, am not cheating at all~"
The Bier beef was quite thick, and Chen Ze realized how finely textured it was only as he started cutting, even more so than any beef he had cut before.
"This beef feels like it would be really chewy. Should I try making beef stew with potatoes?" Chen Ze swallowed and thought this idea was worth trying out.
But he still had to taste the beef himself before deciding.
Chen Ze placed twenty thin-skinned buns into the steamer, dusted off his hands, and now all he had to do was wait a bit.
"Boss, are you interested in buying some expensive ingredients?" Chen Ze was chatting with Alisa in the restaurant when she asked.
"Expensive ingredients? What kind? Is it Moonlight Mushrooms?" Chen Ze was very interested in expensive ingredients.
"No, I’ve heard that in six days, the Thunder Auction House is going to auction off dragon meat," Alisa said, swallowing saliva.
"And it’s not just any dragon meat, it’s from a purebred Red Dragon." Chen Ze raised his eyebrows. Red Dragon meat? Purebred?
"Who owns that auction house? Have they not been killed by dragons?" Chen Ze was very curious, having previously seen two dragons himself.
It was hard to imagine that with the strength of dragons, they would allow humans to slaughter their kin and then sell their meat at an auction.
