Chapter 112: Chapter 4 Gentleness

"My thing here, isn’t particularly useful, but it’s still good for decoration." Lafra touched the flower on her head, and the next second, the blood-red blossoms slowly spread throughout the restaurant, turning the whole place into a sea of flowers, extraordinarily gorgeous.

"Wow~ so beautiful!" Betty’s eyes widened; she couldn’t help but reach out and touch the flower beside her, soft to the touch and carrying a light, elegant fragrance.

"Humph~ that’s all~" Lafra said nonchalantly, but Chen Ze could read the ’praise me’ expression on her face.

Especially since Lafra kept glancing at Chen Ze with an all-too-obvious intention.

"Then I’ll go to the kitchen to make a special dish for you today," Chen Ze didn’t compliment Lafra, although the flowers nearby were indeed beautiful, reminiscent of the Red Spider Lily.

Chen Ze planned to make a Magical Mapo Tofu first to shut Lafra up, then he would quickly go next door to buy some cola, otherwise he felt he might not live to see the sun tomorrow.

Lafra stared blankly as Chen Ze walked into the kitchen; she had just been waiting for this weak human to offer his wonderful blessings, not expecting him to actually walk away?

He actually went back?

"Damn it! Die! Die!" the little devil inside Lafra’s mind stomp furiously. freewebnovёl.ƈom

"Betty, what’s that on your head?" On the surface, Lafra still wore a ’kind’ smile.

Betty shuddered involuntarily, feeling like Lafra’s mood wasn’t too good, that smile looking particularly creepy.

"Miss Lafra, this..." Betty felt a bit awkward—fearing not clashes in attire but being eclipsed by superior ones.

Looking at Lafra’s flowers, with a garden that came along with her, Betty didn’t know how deep of Magic Power was needed to manifest all those flowers, but it was clear Betty’s decoration couldn’t compare.

"This is just a decorative piece I tried making~" Betty decided to bluff.

"Is that so? But why is it glowing constantly?" Lafra was getting a bit impatient, Betty standing in front of her was like a fireball, continuously flickering with various lights.

"I don’t know... It turned out like this after getting a bit wet," Betty said, also embarrassed. This thing was still flashing, for goodness’ sake.

Lafra nodded thoughtfully, then glanced at the ornament on Betty’s head, and a faint flash of Magic Power passed by, reverting Betty’s clip to its original state.

"Eh?" Betty touched her hair clip, surprised to find it finally stopped flashing.

"Thank you, Miss Lafra!" Betty breathed a sigh of relief; continuing to flicker like that, she’d be too embarrassed to greet guests.

"It’s nothing," Lafra’s expression was a bit subtle.

"Betty, come and serve the dishes." Chen Ze clapped his hands, changed his clothes, and put on a mask; he needed to go out and buy some sodas.

"Okay!" Betty immediately went in and brought out the Magical Mapo Tofu combo Chen Ze had prepared.

Chen Ze looked at Betty’s headgear, which finally stopped flashing.

"Lafra helped you?" Chen Ze had also heard the commotion in the restaurant just now.

"Yes, but Miss Lafra seemed a bit... strange?" Betty always felt that Lafra’s expression became subtle after she had undone the effect.

Chen Ze raised his eyebrows, looked seriously at the hair clip on Betty’s head, and then at the sea of flowers around him.

Though different in color, their shapes were essentially the same.

"You go ahead and serve it to Lafra. If customers come in later, just entertain them for a while, ask them to wait, and I’ll go get some sodas," Chen Ze left through a side door.

On the way, Chen Ze pondered. Lafra was, after all, a powerful being, so she must have noticed that Betty’s hairpin and her flowers came from the same product line.

He had certainly detected the difference between the two; after all, a walking flower sea and a mere twinkling intelligence tax item were bound to differ in price.

"So, Lafra is actually a kind person..." Chen Ze couldn’t help but smile, even though this vampire had a bit of a proud and tsundere personality and often cursed at people.

Meanwhile, Lafra was spooning a taste of Mapo Tofu into her mouth, a flavor she had never experienced before.

"Whew, so delicious!" Lafra took a breath, savoring the cuisine. It was truly delicious, even more unique and exquisite than the previous dishes she had tried.

"What kind of dish is this?" Lafra asked curiously.

"This is the manager’s newly developed dish, Magical Mapo Tofu," Betty recalled Chen Ze mentioning the name before.

"Magical Mapo Tofu?" Lafra nodded in satisfaction and scooped another spoonful.

Chen Ze came back carrying a case of cola; luckily, the shop next door was still open, otherwise, he would have had to go to the supermarket.

"Lafra, this is your cola." Chen Ze set the case of cola down beside Lafra.

"Isn’t this a bit much?" Lafra glanced at it and saw right through to the number of bottles inside.

This made her wonder; she even began to doubt whether she had specified ten bottles that day.

"This... the extra two bottles are for certain reasons," Chen Ze scratched his head, embarrassed to admit that he had forgotten, so he offered it as an apology to Lafra.

"Certain reasons?" Lafra looked at Chen Ze curiously.

"Because... because Lafra is a very gentle vampire," Chen Ze recalled the conclusion he had just made up and decided to use it as an excuse.

"Gentle? Gentle..." Lafra’s face instantly flushed as she angrily jumped down from the table and kicked Chen Ze forcefully.

Chen Ze gasped in pain; the kick really hurt, and what was key was that the Magic Circle didn’t come out to protect him.

"Bastard! Pervert! Die a million times!" Lafra cursed as she stormed to the door, her face red with anger.

"Miss Lafra! Your..." Betty hastily tried to remind Lafra that she hadn’t taken her cola yet.

Lafra glanced sideways at Chen Ze, huffed, and then the cola was enveloped in a crimson energy and disappeared inside the restaurant.

Lafra pushed open the door, hesitated for a moment, took off the hairpin on her head, and tossed it to Betty, "This is for the meal!"

Then Lafra walked out without looking back and slammed the door shut behind her.

"Do vampires have periods too?" Chen Ze, clutching his leg, wondered if Lafra was on her period because she seemed in a bad mood.

"No, vampires are undead; they don’t have periods," Betty shook her head and then looked at Chen Ze with a sympathetic gaze.

The manager was good at many things, but in some respects, he was inferior even to a Slowpoke.

"Hiss... then why did she kick me?" Chen Ze was even more confused. Could it be that complimenting someone’s gentleness was an insult in the negative planes?

Chen Ze suddenly remembered that the same phrase and gesture might mean something completely different in another country.

And since the negative planes were full of evil forces, perhaps praising their nobility and justice was actually an insult to them?

Maybe next time I should tell Lafra, "You’re so despicable," huh?
