Chapter 318: Saved By God From God

"No. This cannot be right. You must be joking," Jugra growled, though the anger in his voice was thin and unstable beneath the disbelief.

Damian shrugged indifferently. There was no reason to prove anything to a dead man. Jugra had already lost two brothers, his plan had collapsed, and the only thing left for him now was to decide whether he wanted to die with dignity or scream until the end. Damian was about to take a step forward when he felt the world change.

The wind rose violently and the earth began trembling beneath his feet.

The ocean surged against the coastline as though something enormous had disturbed its depths. Rivers twisted through the land with unnatural force, their waters climbing against their own currents. Damian’s gaze immediately shifted toward the mansion and then toward his yacht resting near the dock. Both were being affected by the sudden pressure spreading through the world.

His expression darkened.

"YOU DARE KILL MY PEOPLE?!"

Boom!

The voice descended from beyond the sky.

Everyone present screamed.

Kan dropped to one knee as blood burst from his ears. Kor clutched his head, his face twisting in agony as his hearing was torn apart by the sheer weight behind the voice. The guards around the mansion collapsed to the ground, their bodies shaking violently as blood poured from their ears and noses.

Even Damian was not completely unaffected.

His ears did not burst like everyone else’s, but blood still flowed down the side of his face. A sharp pain stabbed through his head as though invisible needles had pierced directly into his skull.

Buzz!

Damian raised his head. Then he saw something he had never seen before.

A vague face had appeared within the sky.

It did not look like someone standing above the clouds. It looked like someone had pressed their face against the world from the outside, forcing the sky, clouds, and space itself to bend unnaturally around their features. The outline of the face was disturbingly detailed. Its eyes, nose, mouth, and jaw were all visible beneath the distorted heavens, as though a giant cloth had been stretched over a living face.

The pressure was suffocating.

"YOU! A HUMAN DARES LAY HANDS ON MY SUBORDINATES?!"

The voice thundered again and everyone screamed.

Kan’s body shook violently as blood flowed from his ears. Kor fell onto both knees, unable to remain standing beneath the pressure. Hazel, Racheal, Ruby, Loth, Rah, and everyone within the mansion were forced to cover their ears as the voice tore through their minds.

Damian could feel their pain. He could feel every scream and then his vision began turning red as warm liquid ran down his face.

Damian raised his hand and wiped beneath his eye.

Blood covered his fingers.

His frown deepened.

"I’m bleeding from my eyes?" Damian muttered.

’None Shall See The Face Of God. Stop looking!’ Rin’s urgent voice rang inside his mind.

Damian ignored him.

He was more interested in why this bastard was furious after sending assassins to kill him. The enemy had attacked his home. They had surrounded him with six demigods. They had attempted to destroy his wives, his subordinates, and everything he had built.

Now that two of those assassins were dead, this god wanted to scream at him?

Damian’s anger rose.

However, before he could lash out or act on his fury, something unexpected happened.

Buzz!

It suddenly looked as though a massive hand had grabbed the distorted face from above.

The sky bent even further.

Then a second voice thundered across the world.

"YES, A HUMAN KILLED A DEMON. WHAT ABOUT IT?!"

BUZZZ!

"Sol!" Jugra gasped in shock.

The moment the name left his lips, flames erupted from his throat.

Jugra’s eyes widened.

His neck burst open as violent fire poured from his mouth. His body was consumed instantly, swallowed by flames so intense that Damian could feel his own skin burning from a distance. The heat was unbearable. It felt as though Jugra had been dragged directly beside the sun.

Jugra screamed.

His voice became distorted beneath the fire.

Smoke poured from every opening in his body as the flames spread across his skin, burning through his robes, his flesh, and his demonic aura. The demon stumbled backward before plunging into the ocean below.

The sea exploded upward yet the flames did not weaken. They continued burning beneath the water. Jugra’s screams echoed from beneath the waves.

"NEVER SAY THE NAME OF GOD IN VAIN. IF ONLY YOU TRAINED YOUR SUBORDINATES BETTER, THEY WOULD ALL STILL BE ALIVE!"

Buzz!

The face stretched across the sky twisted in fury despite being held.

"SOL, THIS TIME YOU HAVE CROSSED THE LINE!"

The massive hand tightened. Then the distorted face was forcefully ripped away from Earth.

The bent sky returned to normal and the clouds slowly settled.

Sol’s laughter boomed across the world.

"I KNOW. NOW, WHAT WILL YOU DO ABOUT IT?!"

The response from the other god came from far away, almost like a whisper.

Then the howling winds vanished and the ocean calmed.

The pressure disappeared but most importantly, Ibaraki-dōji was gone and Jugra’s screams were gone as well.

Crack!

Cracks began spreading across the borders of the False World. Moonlight slowly seeped through the fractures, spilling into the crimson realm that had covered the battlefield for so long. The red moon faded. The distorted sky began collapsing. The false world could no longer sustain itself without the power of the demigods who had created it.

"Sol protected him?" Kan muttered, his voice filled with disbelief.

The old Kosak patriarch could understand why Lord Gluttony had reacted so quickly after losing two followers who bore his mark. Mudhhib and Bachi had been important figures within his forces. Their deaths were not something a god could easily ignore.

But Sol?

Sol had no reason to involve himself. He had no reason to interfere in a battle happening on Earth.

So why had he appeared?

Why had he protected Damian?

Meanwhile, the chaos was not limited to Earth. The Underworld was buzzing with the same violent energy.

Six demigods had attacked the Sin of Lust.

Two had been forced to submit to him.

Two others, core followers of the Sin of Gluttony, had been killed during the battle.

Even worse, Sol had personally stopped a god from interfering directly with the events unfolding on Earth.

The world had gone crazy.

___ Aurelius, Sol’s Palace ___

Sol remained seated upon his throne as he slowly opened his eyes.

His figure had lacked a shadow only moments earlier. Now the shadow beneath him returned. The brief dimness surrounding his glory brightened again, becoming as radiant as the sun upon his awakening.

Beside the throne, Leo rested lazily on the ground with boredom written across his expression. His golden fur glittered brightly, as though it was constantly being nourished by divine energy.

"Many people are getting involved," Leo complained as he lifted his head. "Are you sure you still plan to help this kid? You have heard the rumors. Astaroth and the others are interested in him as well. You might as well be protecting the pawn of demons."

Sol’s stern gaze softened slightly as he looked toward his spirit beast. He casually shook his head, causing his golden hair to sway from side to side.

"That child cannot be controlled by anyone," Sol replied calmly. "I can see the ambition in his eyes. You do not need to worry about him becoming the pawn of those filthy animals."

Sol had heard and seen enough. Damian was not the kind of person who would kneel beneath anyone’s authority.

"Do you understand how he gained the powers of an Asura and Bathin?" Leo asked.

Sol’s expression turned thoughtful.

In truth, he was just as curious about Damian as everyone who had witnessed that battle. However, Sol had already reached his own conclusion. Lin Qui had always been the type to prepare ahead of time. He had probably hidden countless treasures, inheritances, and contingencies for his successor.

Giving Damian an advantage before the war truly began sounded exactly like something Lin Qui would do.

As for whatever Damian used to kill people and steal their powers, Sol did not know.

He did not need to know.

The universe was vast. There were places even gods hesitated to enter. There were secrets older than divine beings. There were powers that existed beyond the knowledge of heaven and hell.

Something new being discovered was not uncommon.

"Aren’t you worried that he may become an enemy after you have invested so much into protecting him?" Leo asked as he walked around the throne and stood directly before Sol.

The lion stared into Sol’s eyes for several moments. Sol casually shook his head.

"If he becomes a problem for us, all we need to do is kill him, correct?" Sol rested his chin against his palm.

A cruel smile bloomed across Leo’s face.

That was all he wanted to hear.

Leo did not fear a situation where Damian would grow beyond Sol’s level and defeat him. That was impossible. The real problem was whether Sol would be willing to kill Damian if the time ever came.

Leo had spent enough time with his master to understand that Sol could be sentimental when it came to humans.

Now, however, the answer was clear. If Damian ever became a problem, Sol was willing to kill him.

Leo had no reason to worry anymore.
