Chapter 684: Chapter 684: Hard Fight!

In the office, Ye Feng looked out the window and furrowed his brow. "President Li, call Mr. Yang immediately. We’re in trouble."

Yang Qi had originally sent him to protect Li Qingyan. He had sensed the Tianhai Association might target her and, feeling Black Widow alone wasn’t enough, dispatched Ye Feng as a precaution. He just never expected trouble to actually arrive—and three opponents at once.

"You all hide in the office and don’t come out. I’ll go take a look."

Ye Feng left the office and went to the entrance of the building. By the time he arrived, the security guards had all been taken down. The three elders from the Tianhai Association were Fourth Rank Overlords; the guards, while not weak, never stood a chance against them.

Ye Feng stood before the three men, fearless. He knew he was no match for them all at once. One-on-one, he could win, but if the three of them joined forces, he would be completely outmatched. Even so, he had to fight. This was the mission Yang Qi had given him, one he had to complete even if it cost him his life.

"Are you Ye Feng?"

Zhou Ran and the others were surprised to encounter him. They had targeted Li Qingyan because she seemed like an easy mark and never expected to run into Ye Feng. The three exchanged a glance and wasted no more words. Now that they had found him, a fight was inevitable. If they allowed Ye Feng to send a message, it would cause serious trouble. They had to act now.

The three Tianhai Association elders clashed with the president of the Star Shining Society. The battle erupted in an instant, with no time for idle talk. Ye Feng wanted to stall for time, but his opponents refused. They knew this was Star Shining Society territory and that they needed a swift victory. Otherwise, things would become very complicated.

BOOM!

BOOM!

BANG!

The battle was extremely fierce. Ye Feng used every skill at his disposal, not daring to slack off for a moment, but his opponents were truly powerful. The two sides exchanged blows in a fierce deadlock. Nearby cars were twisted and deformed by the terrifying force of the impacts.

Inside the office, Li Qingyan and Black Widow watched the battle nervously. The fight hadn’t lasted long—only three minutes so far—but Ye Feng was already showing signs of faltering.

"What do we do?" Li Qingyan was overcome with anxiety.

"I’m going to help," Black Widow said, gritting her teeth.

But Li Qingyan grabbed her arm. "Don’t go! I may not understand martial arts, but I can tell those men are much stronger than you. If even Ye Feng can’t hold them off, you’ll just be throwing your life away."

Black Widow knew this was true, but she couldn’t just stand by and watch as more and more wounds appeared on Ye Feng’s body.

SCHLICK!

At that moment, Ye Feng’s sword lashed out, slicing through the throat of a Tianhai Association elder. The man couldn’t even scream as blood instantly clogged his windpipe, and he collapsed to the ground, dead.

But as Ye Feng attacked, he was struck by Zhou Ran and the other elder. His chest visibly caved in as several of his ribs broke.

"No! I have to help." Black Widow looked at Li Qingyan. "Stay here. Don’t go anywhere."

Then, she rushed out.

Ye Feng fought on valiantly, but his vision was starting to blur. He had used all his strength to kill one of them and was now severely wounded himself. It was impossible to continue fighting at full force. He was exhausted—truly and utterly exhausted, as if he had fallen into a quagmire.

BANG!

He was sent flying once again. His left arm dangled uselessly at his side, refusing to straighten.

Boss, I’m afraid I won’t be there to see you conquer the world. But rest assured, even in death, I will hold them off.

Ye Feng knew he wasn’t going to last much longer. He planned to take one more of them down with him before he died. He didn’t know if he could succeed, but he had to try.

"You’ll die for killing my comrade!" Zhou Ran roared, sending a palm strike thundering toward Ye Feng. Although Gu Zhiyuan had ordered them not to kill—but to take Ye Feng and Li Qingyan hostage—Zhou Ran was now overcome with rage and couldn’t care less. He couldn’t accept watching his comrade be killed right before his eyes. Ye Feng had to die!

Ye Feng could barely lift his arm, and Zhou Ran was incredibly fast. If that palm struck him, he would undoubtedly die.

Just then, a dark figure appeared, shielding Ye Feng and taking the full brunt of Zhou Ran’s attack. The figure was sent flying into a wall and collapsed in a heap, on the brink of death.

Coughing up a mouthful of blood, Black Widow’s face turned a ghastly white. She didn’t even have the strength to get up, feeling her life ebbing away.

Still too weak. She sighed, realizing she had failed to protect anyone. She felt no regret or fear in that moment, only a profound sense of helplessness. She had given it her all, only to block a single punch before being brought to the brink of death. What now?

"I’ll tear you bastards apart!"

Seeing Black Widow dying, Ye Feng’s rage exploded. A sharp gleam of light condensed on his sword as he threw himself at the enemy, heedless of his own safety.

Zhou Ran was startled. Ye Feng clearly intended to take him down with him, which was the last thing he wanted. He was unharmed while Ye Feng was severely wounded; trading his life for Ye Feng’s was a terrible deal. Retreating, he suddenly shoved his own comrade forward.

Ye Feng’s sword pierced the man’s throat. This seemed to be the last of his strength. He collapsed to the ground alongside his foe, a glimmer of satisfaction in his hazy eyes. Taking one of them down with him before he died was a worthy trade.

"Zhou Ran, you bastard!" the elder gasped, not quite dead yet.

"Don’t blame me, brother. I’ll avenge you," Zhou Ran sneered as he cautiously approached.

Three elders from the Tianhai Association had come to kill one man, and it had cost two of their lives just to injure him this severely. Even so, Zhou Ran didn’t dare to approach rashly.

He took Ye Feng’s sword and crept closer. Only after confirming that Ye Feng was completely immobile did he finally burst out laughing.

"Hahaha! The president of the Star Shining Society is formidable indeed! But in the end, you still fell into my hands! Once I deliver you to our president, my status will rise even higher. Perhaps I’ll even become the successor of the Tianhai Association!"

Zhou Ran laughed boisterously. Now that three of the four Tianhai Association elders were dead, along with Gu Zhiyuan’s disciple, it had to be his turn. Besides, he had just achieved something magnificent.

"Pah!" Ye Feng spat, unable to stand but showing no fear. "You want to be president? Your Tianhai Association has no future. You’re going to die, and your president won’t survive either. You have no idea how terrifying our boss is."
