Chapter 187: Chapter 187: Only Dogs Guard the House
Helicopter after helicopter landed above Jiang Che’s dungeon. The Red Pearl Mental Hospital was huge; most helicopters just dropped people off and left, only a few landed directly in the courtyard.
Jiang Che had never met high-level human survivors, nor had he participated in any activities of high-ranking human organizations.
Right now, watching the newcomers, he only recognized Leng Feng, because he’d seen Leng Feng’s photo before.
As the strongest human, his photo was plastered on streets and corners everywhere—even in the mental hospital before, Leng Feng’s photo had appeared.
In the photo, his hair stood wild, anger in his face, right hand pointing to the sky—almost like he was swearing to claim his status as number one.
They all say, in voyages into the unknown, the most important thing isn’t companions, but the lighthouse.
Leng Feng was like a guiding light, bringing hope to countless people trapped in despair.
"Hello, I’m Leng Feng." Leng Feng stepped forward to introduce himself, but then realized Jiang Che might not know him.
He scratched the back of his head, feeling a bit embarrassed. It should be that he was a household name, and yet now he awkwardly had to introduce himself.
"I know you."
Hearing Jiang Che’s confirmation, Leng Feng let out a small breath.
It wasn’t about his own status—sometimes, showing your identity made things a lot easier.
At the least, being the strongest human would make Jiang Che trust him more, and the conversations that’d follow would be easier.
"Nice to meet you, Jiang Che." Leng Feng reached out his hand, and shook Jiang Che’s hand politely.
Zhou Ang, Xiong Jie, and the others stood just behind Jiang Che, their expressions toward Leng Feng a bit uneasy.
In an age where humanity was at its end, Leng Feng was forged into a national idol; apparently, effort with him, fighting through dungeons with him, could make a better future.
That’s why so many people, brave to the point of recklessness, tried every way to survive the dungeon—no one saw a ghost and collapsed in terror anymore.
At the very least, even if they were afraid, their fear pushed them forward.
And now, the idol from before was standing right in front of them.
Xiong Jie felt scared inside. He didn’t dare to meet Leng Feng’s eyes, afraid he’d see something suspicious.
Zhou Ang and Flying Tiger hadn’t had much contact with ghosts, so they weren’t worried about being found out by these high-level people.
Even Jiang Che wasn’t worried.
At first, Xiong Jie thought Jiang Che was just like him—controlled, too.
But later, he realized—not at all.
Jiang Che and the Lord of Dungeon No. 9 actually coexisted in a normal way.
But he didn’t feel resentful. After watching Jiang Che and the Lord’s interactions, and considering his master’s instructions, he understood his own mission.
That was to take care of Jiang Che. Jiang Che didn’t know much about people—the social stuff needed Xiong Jie to handle.
No one was afraid of Leng Feng detecting anything—except him.
He lowered his head, pretending to be invisible.
But he was overthinking it. Leng Feng just glanced at him, then looked away.
Leng Feng hadn’t spotted any signs of control on him.
"Let me introduce everyone." Leng Feng pointed behind him. "Some people aren’t here yet—the situation’s complicated, and I’ll explain it later."
"This is the Lord of Dragon Cloud Tower, Long Yun." He pointed first to a buzz-cut guy in a black traditional suit standing not far behind him.
Hands behind his back, standing behind, chatting with several people. He looked thin, sly faced, lips always curved upward.
Almost sensing something, he turned, just as Leng Feng was introducing him. He waved at Jiang Che and Leng Feng.
Under his sleeve, tattoos barely visible on his arm.
The moment he saw Jiang Che, a cold light flashed in his eyes, quickly vanished, and then he smiled at Jiang Che, "Nice dungeon, pretty big, the challenges are decent too."
"Long Yun!" Leng Feng’s face immediately darkened.
"I mean it, genuine praise." He shrugged, turned to study the mental hospital, his eyes full of scrutiny.
"Say something like that again, and I won’t be so polite." Leng Feng stared at Long Yun, eyes cold.
He could let the online trash talk slide, but now, saying shit like that in front of people—it wasn’t a joke.
Jiang Che waved his hand, "It’s fine."
It’s fine?
A bunch of people looked Jiang Che’s way after hearing that.
No one expected Jiang Che to be this easy to bully.
Thinking about it, many people’s eyes drifted toward mockery.
"If you really like this dungeon, you can stay as long as you want." Jiang Che pointed toward the hospital, "There are lots of rooms. Go pick one you like."
Long Yun’s face froze up instantly. He felt Jiang Che was mocking him. "Are you calling me crazy?"
Jiang Che frowned, "That’s not what I meant. If you want, honestly, you can stay here."
Jiang Che recalled Ding Ning’s dungeon—it had tons of subordinates, each with their own considerable strength.
His own dungeon now had plenty of spirit bodies, but all of them lacked consciousness, and they existed solely to serve as challenges. They wouldn’t do anything after the dungeon’s clear.
Thinking about this, Jiang Che looked at Long Yun, thought he was a pretty good candidate.
All Long Yun needed was to register his info in the archives, and he’d become one of Jiang Che’s dungeon members.
"If you stay here, you can watch the place for me when I’m gone."
With that, Leng Feng’s face turned strange.
Everybody knows—only dogs guard the house.
He didn’t expect Jiang Che, who seemed clueless, could insult without swearing.
"Who are you calling a dog?"
Sure enough, Long Yun’s hot temper was like a firecracker—ready to blow at a spark.
A vicious glint flashed in his eyes as he charged at Jiang Che with his fist raised.
This was the perfect opportunity—a great chance to make a move on Jiang Che.
He was genuinely interested in Jiang Che’s dungeon, really wanted to stay.
But definitely not as a watchdog.
He wanted to be the master here.
Thinking that, he began funneling power into his raised fist. It looked ordinary, but there was a black aura around it, the force breaking through the air and space.
If this punch landed on a person, it wouldn’t be pretty.
A bunch of people stepped back, watching Jiang Che and Long Yun like a spectacle.
Whether dungeons could be snatched—they needed someone to try it out.
Now, Jiang Che and Long Yun were perfect test subjects.
Jiang Che had said killing the dungeon lord meant you could take their dungeon, but nobody knew if he was telling the truth or not.
Leng Feng’s face changed drastically. He thought it was just a war of words, never expected Long Yun would go straight for the kill.
"Don’t you dare!"
