Chapter 147: Chapter 147: Just Lended a Hand

Flying Tiger looked toward Tuantuan beside her, who was proudly and confidently introducing Ding Ning’s identity.

Lord!

Flying Tiger had imagined countless identities for Jiang Che’s wife, but she never expected Tuantuan to say the word "Lord."

In an instant, all the details and doubts connected, and every question in her mind was answered.

She thought to herself, who could possibly have such good luck, who could just pick up skills anywhere, who always has the dungeon exit appear right in front of their face wherever they go?

So from the very beginning, all of this had been a meticulous design by the evil spirits.

Not letting the humans know about Jiang Che and her previous relationship to avoid them targeting him, deliberately arranging skills for Jiang Che, and the randomly opened exits all provided plenty of excuses for Jiang Che to leave.

All of them attributed everything to luck.

No one ever thought that a person’s peaceful life always has someone else bearing the burden in silence behind the scenes.

Flying Tiger let out a heavy sigh. She thought, if it were her, she might have chosen the evil spirits too.

For Jiang Che, human society was like an endless abyss, constantly dragging him down.

Those shadowy hands, even as they were descending themselves, would try to pull him down further, making him sink even deeper.

If I were Jiang Che, Flying Tiger lowered her head.

If she were Jiang Che, she would have chosen the evil spirits’ camp too, maybe even with more conviction than Jiang Che himself.

"So from now on, we’ll be on opposite sides," Flying Tiger looked into Jiang Che’s eyes. She had even wanted to rope Jiang Che into marriage before; thinking about it now, it was ridiculous.

She almost died in the illusion, most likely by that Lord’s hand. Only someone that powerful could immerse her in a vision, completely unnoticed by the guards, leaving her unable to escape.

Turns out, she had already taught her a lesson.

Flying Tiger fell silent, but after recalling her recent foolish words, she couldn’t help but laugh at herself.

Are there really two camps anymore? The other side told her so much—wasn’t it just so she’d die with her eyes open?

"It’s not two camps!" Tuantuan appeared beside Jiang Che.

"Dad is human!" She looked earnestly into Flying Tiger’s eyes. "We’ve never asked Dad to make a forced choice."

Jiang Che grinned and lifted Tuantuan into his arms. "Dad will become very, very strong—strong enough to protect everyone."

He recalled what Hua said: that after clearing ten dungeons, there would be a qualitative leap.

By then, no one would be able to hurt him or his family again.

"Hurry up and go, human. Congratulations, you survived by sheer luck," Hua looked at Flying Tiger, no longer hiding her true identity.

Flying Tiger looked at Hua, having already suspected her identity.

But she wasn’t sure if Hua was an evil spirit, because not long ago, when she was in mortal danger, Hua saved her from the bad guys—and laughed, "The one who saved you was me, not Jiang Che."

"You don’t need to be grateful to him, or fall for him. The person you should thank is me." Flying Tiger remembered what Hua had said then.

She looked at the playful girl whose red hair shimmered with a hint of purple; the girl raised her chin high, her eyes full of scorn for Flying Tiger.

Compared to previous human malice, she merely showed an air of arrogance.

She hadn’t harmed her, and even saved her.

She felt like she understood Jiang Che—when humans gave her no hope, an evil spirit did.

"Thank you..." Flying Tiger’s cheeks flushed. "Thank you for saving me..."

Hua had always sensed Flying Tiger’s guardedness toward her and the others, and she didn’t like this woman.

She didn’t like Jiang Che much either, but Jiang Che didn’t feel fear toward her, so she didn’t dislike him.

But now, Hua realized this human woman who had always been cautious around her had let down her guard.

The gratitude directed at her was genuine, heartfelt.

"Hmph, it was just a passing favor," Hua lifted her chin.

"Are you... not going to kill me?" Flying Tiger tested quietly.

"Why would I?" Jiang Che looked at her, puzzled.

"Thank you for your help back in the Human Realm." Whether it was providing information or settling Zhou Ang’s mom, Flying Tiger had truly given a lot of needed help.

Flying Tiger walked tentatively toward the exit, noticing that none of the evil spirits intended to stop her from leaving.

Her feelings were mixed; she’d been thinking for so long about escaping from an S-rank dungeon, then settling for an A-rank dungeon instead.

Now, did she actually have a chance to become a Survivor of an SSS-rank dungeon?

"Wait." Hua saw her walking toward the dark passage and called her to a stop.

Flying Tiger turned to look at Hua, and strangely, being stopped didn’t make her worry that the others had changed their minds or would not let her go.

She was starting to trust these evil spirits.

"Do you know which exit to take?" Of the ten glowing exits, eight were still closed.

Flying Tiger shook her head.

"Then wait a bit, go together with Jiang Che later." Hua pointed to Jiang Che. "And as for the first slot to leave..."

She didn’t finish, but Flying Tiger understood.

The first slot belonged to Jiang Che.

"Dad, you should go." Tuantuan wriggled free from Jiang Che’s arms. She looked at Jiang Che reluctantly; she had wanted to stay close to him a while longer, but Mother had just told her that the channel between human and evil spirits was now fully open.

From now on, the time for anomalies to descend into reality would decrease as the Human Realm was transformed.

Soon, she would be able to reunite with Jiang Che.

Ding Ning just used telepathy to tell her Jiang Che should return now.

She said the human world should already be changing.

"You..." Zhou Ang followed behind Jiang Che, glancing at Hua standing with Tuantuan. "No matter what form you take, you look beautiful."

He really did think this girl was beautiful.

He very much approved of the way Jiang Che got along with the evil spirits.

He had experienced more than Jiang Che, and knew even better just how dark the strange dungeons could be.

He had watched countless live streams where humanity went through the darkest moments, betraying their comrades; things got a little better after that, some started to work together, but most of the time, they still fought over dungeon items, killing each other.

You had to guard against evil spirits, and against humans too!!

Whether in large or small dungeons, most people died at the hands of their own kind.

Seeing Jiang Che’s family, he couldn’t help feeling envious.

Jiang Che glanced upwards; Ning was already speaking to him telepathically, telling him she was watching over him from the void.

She just couldn’t break free for now.

Jiang Che couldn’t help but sigh. Clearly, just like humans, brief separations were normal, but in his heart, he still felt bitter over being apart.

He led Flying Tiger, Zhou Ang, and Xiong Jie toward the exit, looking back every three steps.
