Chapter 115: Chapter 115: Like a Ray of Light
Tuantuan wrapped her arms around Jiang Che’s neck and smiled sweetly.
She felt it, the absolute sincerity in Zhou Ang’s words.
He really made that decision because of Dad.
These past few days, Tuantuan was trying in every way to understand human society, always trying to figure out what human emotion really was.
She only knew that being with Jiang Che felt comfortable, and she never wanted to leave for even a moment.
What drew her the most was the most sincere thing in humans—called emotion.
But these emotions were also so complicated—love, friendship, family...
No matter which one it was, none of the materials she found gave any detailed explanation.
But as she looked at Zhou Ang, did this person see Dad as a friend?
So is that why he supports whatever Dad does?
"But actually I’m pretty curious. Do you really not know us, or were you just acting to get close on purpose?" Xiong Jie grew urgent the moment he heard Zhou Ang change his mind.
"Recently, in the live streams, Cheng and I have kind of become small-time celebrities online, the supposed first ones to clear an SSS-level dungeon, and you don’t know us?" He began to suspect Zhou Ang was deliberately approaching them.
For those with strength like Xiahou Zhi, not watching streams was normal. Compared to those unreachable SSS-level dungeons, they preferred to repeatedly study dungeon info that matched their own levels.
No matter if this Survivor made it out of an SSS-level dungeon by chance or sheer strength—it wasn’t something people could learn from or imitate anyway.
Compared to the ordinary folk who were just there for the hype, they preferred to study what precisely suited their own tier.
He looked at Zhou Ang curiously, but he was also probing Tuantuan: maybe this guy only got close to Jiang Che after watching the streams.
Based on what he knew of these malevolent spirits, they all seemed to like Jiang Che—a bit like an irreplaceable toy they couldn’t put down.
But what if a human with an agenda wanted to approach him?
"To be honest, my mom and I haven’t watched live streams for a long time."
"A lot of ordinary people who have lost hope in the supernatural world haven’t watched them in ages."
"Rather than spend effort on that, we’d rather just live each day well." He spread his hands; when he met strong people, he knew he was running into a famous Survivor.
But he really didn’t recognize them.
If he’d seen that Survivor’s stream, he’d definitely have gone up and said, ’I watched your stream! You were amazing in the dungeon—can I get your autograph? Could I maybe follow you around after?’
Unfortunately, he hadn’t watched Jiang Che’s survival process—not even enough to suck up properly.
[Dad, he’s telling the truth!] Tuantuan secretly called Jiang Che.
Jiang Che didn’t care at all. He never thought of himself as a streaming celebrity.
He just saw Zhou Ang trying so hard to protect his mom—it was like seeing himself.
Now, hearing humans talk about wiping out the supernatural and evil spirits, beneath his calm facade, a deep anxiety boiled inside.
He too was wondering—how could he possibly protect his own family?
Did he just have to become incredibly strong? Was that the only way to truly keep his family safe?
He felt, in some ways, he and Zhou Ang were the same type of person.
They brought Zhou Ang and his mother back to Flying Tiger’s villa, where the guards at the door greeted them warmly, not caring at all that Jiang Che had brought back three more people.
Humans at their rank often did good deeds when out and about, and bringing people back just meant taking them to Flying Tiger Group’s family living area. The group would respect their wishes—whether they just wanted a safe life or to try a dungeon themselves.
Maybe it was because, after reaching this tier, there was too much killing—in the dungeons, most of the killing wasn’t spirits, but humans.
Doing good was, in a sense, a kind of balm for their souls.
"The young lady has been in her room. Want me to tell her you’re here?"
"Anyone you bring can find the housekeeper. Once the hunt is over, the housekeeper will settle them in the family area." The guard spoke warmly to Jiang Che.
If this one survived, he’d definitely be a strong contender in the future.
Maybe even end up with the young lady, as their future boss.
Seeing the confusion in Jiang Che’s eyes, the guard quickly explained, "Everyone’s got their moments of bravery—we’re used to it. In the family area, besides family, there are a lot of people like this."
"I see." Jiang Che nodded thoughtfully, "Is Flying Tiger asleep? I want to introduce my friends."
"Not sleeping at all—who could sleep at a time like this?"
"The young lady wouldn’t sleep either. Don’t let her lack of rank fool you—she’s as sharp as any strong one." The guard stepped aside to let Jiang Che’s group in.
He didn’t even bother announcing Jiang Che’s arrival.
Flying Tiger had already said, if Jiang Che wanted to see her, let him come straight up—no need to announce him.
Jiang Che brought Zhou Ang up. His mother sat in the living room as soon as she arrived at the villa.
Zhou Ang’s mom knew she was just here for a safe home—these social things weren’t for her to join in.
Flying Tiger’s room was easy to find—the villa had a small elevator; just go straight to the third floor.
Jiang Che’s room was on that floor, too. She’d even placed both their rooms on the same level.
"Later I’ll tell her you’re one of our squad now. I’ll also ask how you can better clear dungeons and grow—she should have better guides and experience."
Flying Tiger was confident she could clear advanced dungeons; bringing Zhou Ang would surely let him learn a lot.
Knock, knock, knock—
Jiang Che knocked on her room door.
But there was no response inside, so Jiang Che knocked again, puzzled.
Knock, knock, knock—
Tuantuan, standing next to him, suddenly froze. She suddenly remembered something.
She’d forgotten to take back her Illusion Technique!
A little too much this time!
Taking advantage of Jiang Che’s inattention, her incorporeal Spirit Body slipped into the room. She saw the woman in the corner with empty eyes, and quietly withdrew her Illusion Technique.
She just wanted to teach the woman a lesson—nothing bad would happen, right?
After quickly removing the Illusion Technique, she returned to her own body.
It had only been a few seconds. Jiang Che was still holding her hand and hadn’t noticed her brief absence.
Knock, knock, knock—
Jiang Che sensed something wrong and knocked harder.
In the dark room, Flying Tiger finally seemed to come to her senses. Her ashen eyes scanned the surroundings, then turned toward the door.
She heard the knocking.
"Flying Tiger? Are you there? Were you sleeping?" Jiang Che asked, confused.
He didn’t suspect Flying Tiger was in any danger. With so many people outside, and her being a key protected figure, she’d be fine.
"Come... in..." Flying Tiger’s voice was as faint as a whisper, every word a struggle.
Jiang Che realized something was wrong. With a little force, the solid wooden door was shoved open, smashing the lock.
He saw Flying Tiger in the corner, rushed over, and asked with some concern, "What happened to you?"
Flying Tiger just sat in the corner, her empty eyes fixed on Jiang Che as he broke in.
Like a ray of light.
