Chapter 103: Chapter 103: That’s Really Something!
"If you’ve got such a kickass fighter, of course you gotta take good care of him. What’s a phone compared to that?"
"I think Xiong Jie is just playing the emotional card—he knows Jiang Che wants a family, so he’s raising him like his own son now," someone teased.
"If I could, I’d run up and say, ’Jiang Che, I’m your long-lost wife!’ But there’s no point. I haven’t been through life-and-death with him, he was just picked up by Xiong Jie, that’s all."
Flying Tiger was a bit stunned; she honestly hadn’t thought about that.
The time in the mental hospital dungeon was over, so everyone could come and go freely—naturally, they also got Jiang Che’s file.
Now that you mention it, Xiong Jie treating him like an actual son? That really tracks!
A fighter who’ll never betray you—as long as you treat him right, he’ll do whatever you say.
But what about me?
Flying Tiger lowered her head, pondering what kind of role she should approach Jiang Che with.
It took just over ten minutes from entering the phone store to leaving.
A minute picking and paying for the phone, and then over ten minutes helping him download a few common apps. Most importantly, helping with the Flying Tiger app.
"This one’s called ’Flying Tiger’ too?" Jiang Che pointed at the app on his phone.
Xiong Jie couldn’t help but go silent—he hadn’t known either. Turns out the Flying Tiger Organization’s Miss actually called herself Flying Tiger too.
A woman with a name like that—talk about abstract.
"Her platform, her rules. For all we know, maybe she even has a villa called Flying Tiger Manor."
Just as Xiong Jie finished, a chilly, languid woman’s voice drifted over from behind, "You got that right."
"I really do have a manor. It’s called Flying Tiger."
"So, have you thought about joining the Flying Tiger Organization yet?" Flying Tiger asked with a big, squinty smile.
Jiang Che was caught off guard, "I haven’t thought about it."
From the moment he left until now, his mind was on other things. He hadn’t even considered whether he should join the Flying Tiger Organization.
Uncle Xiong had said, unless Flying Tiger brings something unique and exclusive to the table, it’s all the same which organization you join—just pick whichever offers better perks.
"You got somewhere else you want to go?" Flying Tiger narrowed her eyes, smiling as if she didn’t care what Jiang Che said.
When she first heard Jiang Che, she thought he wasn’t considering the Flying Tiger Organization. But she quickly realized what he meant was ’haven’t considered yet,’ as in—he just hadn’t decided.
She wasn’t sure what they were doing at the hospital, but clearly, they had their own business.
"Is there really anywhere offering better than my terms?" Flying Tiger looked at Jiang Che sitting on the couch, fiddling with his phone. Leaning her chin on her hands, she put on a poor-little-me look. "Seriously, is there?"
"What terms did you even offer?" Even Xiong Jie was dumbfounded this time.
He was there too. Didn’t hear about any terms at all?
The info Flying Tiger provided was new for newbies like them, sure, but he could tell—even the freshest info was pretty generic.
It’s all a matter of who has better info leverage.
"The whole Flying Tiger Organization as your dowry, that’s not a condition?" Flying Tiger didn’t even glance at Xiong Jie; she just pointed at the Flying Tiger app icon on Jiang Che’s phone. "See this app? If you marry me, it’s all yours."
"No thanks," Jiang Che turned her down flat, not even giving it a second thought. He really didn’t want to join Flying Tiger anymore—this woman was like a hungry wolf, ready to devour him.
Xiong Jie just rolled his eyes. Every other condition counts—except that one.
Flying Tiger hadn’t expected Jiang Che to refuse so cleanly, so she could only sigh in exasperation.
She straightened up, adjusted her clothes, and said formally, "Alright, let’s get back to business."
"What I wanted to talk to you about is the supernatural event arriving in three days."
"Honestly, not many small groups know this intel."
"When evil spirits arrive in the real world, there’s no warning energy surge—instead, a powerful magnetic field forms. Any human who enters is trapped; they can’t leave."
"But a powerful Awakened from outside can sense the energy and go in."
"It’s not that we’re hiding this info on purpose—it’s just that there are too few strong Awakened compared to regular folks."
"Strong ones can go inside a zone and protect people, but once they go into one field, they can’t move to another."
"No wonder you survived even without any levels," Xiong Jie said bluntly.
"Of course. The Flying Tiger Organization’s got deep enough roots to make that possible," Flying Tiger replied unfazed, not minding Xiong Jie’s sarcasm.
"If you join, at least we’ll guarantee you survive every time the supernatural event hits," she said, deadly serious.
"But I still don’t like you," Jiang Che replied by the book.
"That I admire your strength and your potential doesn’t mean I like you. A marriage alliance is just so we’re tied together more securely, that’s all."
"I hope you give it serious thought. But even if we don’t get married, Flying Tiger won’t shortchange anyone with talent and potential."
"I’ll be around these days. When the supernatural event arrives in three days..." Flying Tiger paused for a second. "I hope it doesn’t happen here. But if it does, I hope you’ll team up with us ASAP. Flying Tiger’s got strong fighters, you’ll be protected."
"You two really lack field experience—you’ll get yourselves killed." With that, she handed over her card and left with her people.
Xiong Jie glanced at Flying Tiger’s background. If Jiang Che didn’t stick with his master, teaming up with Flying Tiger would be a power combo for sure.
Marriage isn’t reliable, but for Jiang Che and Flying Tiger, working together would be the solid move.
"Supernatural event..." Xiong Jie let out a long sigh.
He had no idea if master would send anyone into the real world. If not, he and Jiang Che really would need to find shelter somewhere.
But if the master is sending someone, with the way Flying Tiger keeps trying to seduce Jiang Che, she might not live to regret it.
"No way I’m teaming up with her. Tuantuan said she’s coming for me," Jiang Che muttered under his breath.
"That’s all the more reason for us to stick with her," Xiong Jie said, sweating. He knew Tuantuan, that little demon—if master is at least somewhat calculated, there’s no telling what the little demon will do.
Flying Tiger’s existence has its uses—getting info and resources from her is just way too convenient.
"Why stick with her at all?"
"Call it protection, I guess. This stuff isn’t easy to spell out in a few sentences," Xiong Jie shook his head. "She doesn’t mean us any harm, and we still need the organization to grow."
"One thing Flying Tiger actually got right—their organization really does suit the two of us."
Jiang Che still didn’t get it: why does Flying Tiger keep saying they’ll protect us, and Uncle Xiong always sounds like we’re the ones who should be protecting others?
