Chapter 405: CAUGHT IN THE WEB
Felicia didn’t stop there. She continued to hit the baton on Juliet’s head, the sound of crushing bone could be heard in the office.
"What the heck are you doing?! You’ve already killed her." The warden tried to stop Felicia but the latter was too deadpan on crushing Juliet completely.
When Felicia was finally able to get control of herself, she threw the baton away, it was stained with blood and some pieces of Juliet’s bone.
She glared at Juliet’s dead body. Her face was completely unrecognizable. Bloody and broken.
Felicia brought her hands to her face. It was also stained with blood, just like the baton and her face.
"What have I done?" She asked no one in particular. "Did I just murder Juliet?"
The warden was too shocked to speak. She had just witnessed a murder just because she had been obliged to help an inmate.
"Check if she’s still alive," Felicia’s command broke through her thoughts.
"Check?" She asked. "What do you want me to check? Does she look like she’s breathing to you? You just crushed her face. She’s dead. You’ve just killed a fellow inmate," the inmate declared.
Felicia covered her face, tearing up and also disgusted with the dead body that lay in front of her. freewёbnoνel.com
The office fell silent. No one spoke a word but everything was being said silently.
They were in trouble.
"What do we do?" Felicia asked, her face red from crying so much. "What do we do with her body? How do we dispose of it?"
The warden stared at Felicia, not sure if the latter was crying because she had just murdered someone or because she didn’t know how to dispose of the body of the person she had just murdered. Either way, they had to think things through thoroughly, even though there was not enough time to do so.
"W-we have to b-bury her," the warden stuttered, not sure of what she was saying to herself. She was too stunned to speak so she blurted out the only thing that came to her head.
Felicia stared at her.
"How do we bury her body? It will be too dangerous for us to do that. Some wardens are still outside and if they catch us, we are both dead," she said, more fear gripping her.
"Then what do you suggest?" The warden questioned.
Felicia fell silent. She didn’t have anything to suggest so she could only go through with the first plan and that was to bury Juliet.
The entire office smelled of blood.
Felicia stood up, disgusted by Juliet’s dead body as if she was not the one who killed her a few minutes ago.
Grabbing Juliet’s feet, she urged the warden to carry her upper body as they moved her away from the ground, heading outside. They went to the furthest part of the prison and since it was midnight, they hoped they wouldn’t be caught.
"Where’s the shovel?" Felicia asked. The warden went to grab two shovels and came back with them.
Hurriedly, the both of them started digging the ground. But when they heard a sound, any kind of sound at all, they would stop and wait a while to confirm what it was before they would continue.
It took them a long while before they were able to dig enough to place Juliet’s dead body in.
"It’s not exactly six feet but this should be enough," said Felicia, throwing her shovel away.
Both of them carried Juliet’s body and dropped her on the ground.
Felicia stared at Juliet. She still couldn’t believe she was the one who had just murdered Juliet a moment ago. Her heartbeat accelerated at the sudden realization that she would be facing another kind of sentence if anyone were to find out that she’d just killed someone while she was still in prison.
She glanced at the warden who went to pick up her shovel so that they could start pouring sand back into the grave to cover it up.
Felicia sighed, giving in to the thought that had just planted itself into her head.
After filling the grave with sand, they covered the trail of blood that dripped from Juliet’s head with sand.
When they got to the office, they met with a pool of blood they had left behind earlier.
"How are we going to clean this pool of blood now?" Felicia asked.
She was already sweating from digging the ground and also from the amount of anxiety she felt at that moment.
The warden sighed, also tired.
"We need to clean this up as fast as possible. Stay here, I will get some bucket and soap so that we can clean it up," she suggested and without waiting for Felicia’s reply, she stormed out of the office, hot on her heels as she went to bring the items.
Her mind was fixated on the pool of blood.
’That’s the blood of the person I killed some minutes ago.’ She thought to herself, kneeling as she focused on the blood.
Suddenly, she felt like throwing up. She covered her mouth quickly and ran outside to throw up.
By the time she went back to the office, the warden was already there.
"Hurry up! We need to clean this place as quickly as possible. I bumped into the other warden that would be taking my place here and she said she would be on her way soon," said the warden.
Felicia’s heart jumped upon hearing what the warden said.
Without a word said, she started scrubbing the ground and every other place where she saw any trail of blood.
The warden threw the water away and kept the bucket away.
She walked towards the screens and monitored if there was any warden that was heading towards the building.
When she didn’t spot any, she said,
"We are clear for now. Thankfully, the rug is not too thin so it should dry quickly."
Felicia glanced at the rug that did seem to be drying already before her gaze focused on the warden, her hands behind her.
Smiling, she said, "Thank you so much for helping me out. Too bad, it’s too risky to keep you alive."
Instantly, Felicia hit the warden’s head with the baton she had picked up from under the table when they were cleaning earlier.
