Chapter 401: EXPOSED
It was already noon, the inmates slumped on their beds after another day of tireless work. Juliet noticed Felicia whispering something to one of the inmates, and after getting a nod, she left the cell room and went outside.
Juliet sighed. She was extremely exhausted and couldn’t even get up from her bed. Taking a deep breath, she followed behind Felicia.
Juliet halted her movements when she’d lost Felicia. The woman was no longer in her sight.
Grunting, Juliet snapped her fingers in frustration, turning to walk back towards the cell room when she heard a faint voice, arguing.
Juliet immediately halted her steps so that she could be sure she was hearing right.
"That’s Felicia’s voice," she mumbled.
Juliet decided to head towards where she was hearing the sound of the people arguing. She followed the voice until it led her towards the back of the bathroom.
She snuck into her head and gasped when she saw Felicia with the warden she thought would catch Felicia on that special day.
"Where the heck have you been? I have been looking for you everywhere?" Felicia questioned the warden.
"Mind the way you speak to me girl, I’m still the warden here and you are the criminal. I can beat you up right now if I wanted to. Just because we are working together doesn’t mean you get the right to talk to me any way you want. Watch your tongue." The warden warned sternly with her baton raised to demonstrate her warning in case Felicia found it hard to understand the simple sentence.
Meanwhile, Felicia stared at them with eyebrows furrowed in confusion. She didn’t want to believe that Felicia and the warden were working together but the scene in front of her showed otherwise.
’They are working together?’ She thought to herself.
Suddenly, she remembered her mother giving her the hint that Felicia probably bribed the warden. freewёbn૦νeɭ.com
’But that’s impossible. Why would they be working together? What benefits are they going to gain from it?’ Juliet wondered.
Felicia sighed, running her hand through her hair.
"I’m sorry, I forgot who you were for a second," she said.
"Good," the warden replied, her words curt.
"So did you find anything about him? How’s he doing in school? Scratch that. Have you been able to get close to him? To get him to trust you so that you can bring him here without him ringing an alarm?" Felicia asked, her tone expectant and desperate.
’Who could she be talking about?’ Juliet asked herself before her eyes widened in shock.
"Can you even hear yourself? How do you think that boy is supposed to trust me? I can’t even get into the school because of the security guards. I can only see him when that woman, what do you call her name again?"
"Erika!"
"Yes, Erika. I can only see him when Erika comes to see him. I don’t think I can be able to do this anymore, I give up," said the warden, about to leave but Felicia pulled her back.
"Please don’t do this. You are the only one I know here who’s willing to help me," Felicia pleaded with a pitiful face.
"I’m not helping you, I’m just working for you and you’d better pay up when you get out of here coz I’m not doing this shit anymore. If the other wardens find out I’m helping an inmate all in the name of money, I could get suspended. Or even more, jailed. It’s too risky..."
Felicia closed her eyes as she waited for the warden to stop talking for once, which the latter didn’t plan to do anytime soon.
She gritted her teeth silently. Since Erika couldn’t leave her to spend some alone time with Jake, she was left with no other choice but to see if she could brainwash a warden to do her work outside, which was keeping an eye on Jake when he was at school.
Felicia had asked Erika where Jake was schooling to make things easier for her in case she was able to brainwash a warden, but Erika seemed to have read her mind and didn’t reveal anything. So she brainwashed a warden with a lie that she was extremely wealthy outside of prison.
Felicia didn’t know what got into the mind of the warden but she was swayed by her words, agreeing to help her watch Jake in school but wouldn’t help her escape which was the only reason she was still in jail.
Luckily for her, it was still this warden who found her when Juliet almost had her caught.
"It’s too difficult to get into that school so I quit. Hurry up and escape from here already so that you can pay me up," said the warden, sizing Felicia’s help before she left.
Juliet, who was still hidden, listening to their conversation secretly tensed up when she saw the warden leaving but sighed in relief when the warden passed the other corner. freeweɓnøvel.com
Felicia groaned, stomping her feet on the ground. She didn’t completely believe that the plan was going to work but she had hoped that it would. She needed to poison Jake’s mind towards Erika. She didn’t want peace in their home at all.
Leaving the spot to head back to the cell room, Felicia immediately halted when she almost bumped into a figure.
Felicia sighed, tired that her problems kept on piling up.
"I can’t believe you can be that desperate, Felicia." Juliet spat as she glared hard at Felicia’s face, internally wishing the latter would just stop breathing immediately. "You were the one who abandoned Jake and now you suddenly want him back for your games, and what could you possibly want for him to do for you?" she questioned.
"This is none of your business, Juliet," said Felicia, intending to walk away.
"But it will soon be the business of the wardens as soon as I tell them about what you’ve been doing. About what you and that warden have been plotting."
Felicia smiled but it didn’t reach her eyes. "And do you have anything to prove your claims?" She questioned.
