Chapter 11: Siren Stronghold [ 7 ]
She led him through Lumen, to a place that was crowded with officers. In the middle of it all, there was an infirmary, and she took him inside.
Nacho had his doubts. His Apex Body Talent had triggered countless times, and from the looks of things, she’d been staring at his back a lot.
Does she know? I feel like she’d react more if she did. Is just she just skeptical?
He had a bunch of theories, but no idea how to be sure.
She took him into one of the private infirmary rooms, got some disinfectant, and began working on his injury silently.
But there was one thing he couldn’t avoid. His 5 HP/s regeneration. When she disinfected the injury and took out the rock, it began healing rapidly. In just ten seconds, it was closed completely, and there wasn’t even a scar left.
"..."
Sera took a few steps back, tapping the hilt of her sword.
"Who are you?"
Nacho groaned slightly.
"It doesn’t matter. You hurt me, then question me. What’s wrong with you?"
Instead of playing along, Sera unsheathed her sword, revealing the blue blade.
"No normal Siren can heal that fast. You’re either an old general, or you’re not a Siren at all. Are you with the humans?"
"The humans? Do I look human to you?" Nacho replied in disbelief.
And his reply didn’t make things easier.
"Despite you being old, your muscles are very perfectly developed. You walk with a hunchback, but you have no back problems."
She lowered her sword and began slowly walking around him.
"When you were walking earlier, you limped with one leg, then when I bumped into you, you began limping with the other. I’ve seen beings like you around. You’re a shapeshifter? A demon, perhaps?"
He felt the touch of her cold blade against her neck, and he didn’t say anything for a moment.
I didn’t even know I was limping. She’s good... And really dangerous.
But Nacho was really good at bullshitting.
"Haa? So just because I fake my condition, you think I’m some shapeshifter? Do you have proof? Youngsters nowadays think of the most ridiculous accusations."
"Indeed. I don’t have any proof, but I do have a test."
She lowered her sword and then walked in front of him, standing a few meters away.
"This test is called, ’Will I keep my job, or go to prison for murder.’"
Before he could even process her words, she suddenly swung her sword down. His Apex Body and Predator’s Instinct Talents reacted instantly, sensing the immense killing intent and seriousness behind her attack.
His senses and instincts reacted before his brain. His invisible tentacle appeared out of thin air and wrapped itself around her sword, stopping it. Meanwhile, Storm Manipulation coursed through his tentacle at 5% of its strength, draining his mana heavily.
[-1,000 MP | 5,190 / 6,190]
[-1,000 MP | 4,190 / 6,190]
This, in turn, sent a shock through her sword, causing her to wince in pain slightly.
But by the time Nacho’s brain managed to catch up with what he just did, he got rid of the tentacle and stopped using Storm Manipulation.
She definitely saw the Storm Manipulation, but not the tentacle, Nacho thought and just stared at the sword that was inches away from his face.
"..."
After a few seconds of silence, Sera went ahead and sheathed her sword.
"Yesterday, there was some movement out in the ocean. There was a thunder strike, and no confirmed victims aside from some charred clothes we found adrift."
She let out a sigh. "I now know the one behind the attack was you. I carefully monitored everyone who left and entered Lumen. There’s not many of us, so it’s easy."
Yeah... I can kind of see where she’s going with this.
"That naked Siren’s the only unauthorized person that had entered, then disappeared after knocking an officer unconscious. As the Grand General of the Siren race, my deduction leads me to believe you’re that very same person. Am I wrong?"
Well damn.
Is this the reincarnation of Sherlock Holmes? Should I ask for an autograph?
Nacho shook his head inwardly.
I should focus. She knows who I am, and she didn’t seem much affected by the tentacle.
The tip of his tentacle did touch her arm. Aside from a slight shiver, there wasn’t anything. Her level was just too high.
"Grand General Sera."
Nacho’s body blurred for a moment, shifting back to the handsome Siren form, the same one whose charred clothes Sera had found.
"We’ve met when I had my cock out. I didn’t want that to be your first impression of me, but I can’t change that now."
Letting out a sigh, he leaned back, staring at her deadpan expression. fгeewebnovёl.com
"But I say we try to start over, shall we? I’m not a demon, nor am I a shapeshifter. But I do have a Talent that lets me take on the form of anyone—"
"Anyone you kill. I take it you also get one of their main Talents? Your voice travels just like ours. So you used lightning to kill a Siren, absorbed his body, and then came to this city. You killed that old man too." She cut him off, then lowered her head, mumbling:
"Two murder charges, identity theft too. Public nudity, lying to an officer. There’s so many. This is easily 50 years in prison. What to do, what to do..."
Hearing that, Nacho gulped, remembering the reason why he took this form in the first place.
"L-Listen here. How about you void all that, and instead, I’ll help you with your human problem upstairs?" He pointed at the sky. "You’re being shorted and fucked over, no? If you give me an official or some kind of prisoner from there, I can invade them and kill everyone at the top."
Definitely not because he could freely use his tentacles to level up and steal everyone’s Talents.
Plus, if this woman was any smart, she would forsake her pride and sense of justice for a much grander justice.
Heh.
All those nights watching Detective Conan were paying off.
"Is that all?"
...Or not.
