Chapter 1157: Chapter 1157: He Must Be a Scumbag

With Janelle Tollman’s persuasion, Arthur Sutton still bought quite a few things for the two children.

Thinking that he is going to meet the two children in the capacity of a father soon, Janelle Tollman fully understood his feelings.

Although Arthur Sutton appeared to be as usual, his heart was somewhat anxious.

He always interacted with the children as their uncle, and the sudden switch to being their father left him unsure not only about whether the children could accept it, but also about how he could effectively play the role of "dad."

After dinner, Janelle Tollman suggested going for a walk before returning to the hotel, claiming she was too full.

In fact, she wanted to use this opportunity to strengthen her relationship with Arthur Sutton.

Although they had already confirmed their boyfriend-girlfriend relationship, and even entertained thoughts of marriage, she always felt that something was still missing compared to real couples.

The street at night, adorned with neon lights, was vibrant and romantic.

The traffic lights on both ends of the pedestrian path were red, and Janelle Tollman and Arthur Sutton stood among the crowd waiting to cross the street.

As the green light turned on, Janelle Tollman was just about to step forward when Arthur Sutton suddenly took her hand.

Her steps paused, and she turned her head to look at Arthur Sutton, but he was just staring ahead at the road.

It seemed like an unconscious gesture, naturally as if it had happened countless times before.

Janelle Tollman took a deep breath and tightened her grip slightly in his broad palm.

Both of them tacitly didn’t mention it or let go, continuing the conversation they were having.

Along the way, Janelle Tollman roughly recounted the past few years she remembered to Arthur Sutton, most of the topics revolving around the two children.

Another part was about the memories Janelle Tollman was missing.

Arthur Sutton could tell that Janelle Tollman actually wanted to recall the past, and given the circumstance, anyone would be curious about their former self.

So he said, "I know a doctor friend who specializes in this area. When we get back, let’s find a time to take you to see him."

Janelle Tollman listened but didn’t seem particularly hopeful, calmly smiling as she said, "For the past few years, I’ve tried many methods myself, seen numerous doctors and taken plenty of medicine, yet there hasn’t been any improvement."

Arthur Sutton was silent for a moment and then asked, "Is there someone particularly important you don’t want to forget?"

Janelle Tollman paused for a moment, glanced at him, then shook her head and smiled as she explained, "It’s just an obsession in my heart, but over the years I’ve heard my mom talk about a lot of past things, so I kind of know how my life used to be. But..."

She pretended to pause, sure enough sparking Arthur Sutton’s curiosity: "But?"

Janelle Tollman looked at him with a smug smile and said, "My mom said that before my car accident, I did have a boyfriend."

Arthur Sutton’s expression froze. Although he didn’t seem overly dissatisfied or jealous, for someone usually so gentle, a blank expression actually meant he was displeased.

However, Janelle Tollman’s reason for saying this was just to see his reaction.

She smiled contentedly and continued, "My mom said I only told her about having a partner but she never met him, so she doesn’t know who I was dating, which means even now I don’t know if it was my first love."

Arthur Sutton’s tone was obviously more subdued than before: "So, do you want to find him?"

Janelle Tollman immediately shook her head: "I think he must be a jerk."

Upon hearing Janelle Tollman’s calm assessment, Arthur Sutton’s eyes showed signs of relief: "Why do you say that?"
