Chapter 317: Chapter 317: Shameless and Lawless
Cecilia Vaughn had never attended such a high school reunion before, as she went to prison right after graduating at eighteen.
But even if she hasn’t experienced it firsthand, she’s seen enough to know that these so-called get-togethers meant to reconnect usually end up being competitions about who bought a house in a prestigious school district, who got a promotion, and who managed to snag a rich partner.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t easy to turn down the class president, given that they got along well back then, and it’s even harder to go back on her word now that she’s agreed to go.
After being tormented by Adrian Law all night, her body was sore, and as Cecilia rubbed her temples, she realized she had a bit of a headache. She should have just claimed she was busy.
She checked the time; there was about an hour left.
"Ah, crap! I’m going to be late!"
The place where the reunion was held, The Majestic Springs Grand Hotel, was on the opposite side of the city, and being a rest day, the traffic was bad, so she’d probably end up late.
...
Adrian Law was also aware of Cecilia Vaughn’s plans to attend the reunion. He bent down and playfully tapped the tip of her nose.
"Cecilia, since it’s already too late, why don’t you just skip it?"
Adrian wasn’t exactly trying to keep Cecilia from socializing with others. Although he was possessive, he wasn’t that unreasonable.
It’s just that since Cecilia’s class president had arranged for everyone to stay at the hot spring hotel for a night, Adrian wasn’t too keen on her leaving him to "keep the house alone."
Cecilia’s eyes sparkled with a mix of emotions as she playfully punched his arm in protest.
"Humph, it’s all your fault! Why do you have so much energy..." Mid-sentence, her cheeks flushed. "Otherwise, I wouldn’t have missed lunch and only just woken up..."
"I’m only being considerate for my dear wife’s sake by staying fit, aren’t I?"
"These high school reunions are boring to begin with, and besides, you haven’t kept in contact with any of them for years. Cecilia, you’re better off exploring the true meaning of life with me instead..."
His deep, magnetic voice resonated in her ear as he gently caressed her waist, nearly setting her heart aflame.
"You... are talking nonsense with a straight face again..."
Cecilia’s face grew even redder. Her legs felt weak, and she knew that if she continued this "discussion" with Adrian, the rest of the day would be spent in their bedroom!
She couldn’t let Adrian have his way.
Quickly, like a startled cat, she sat up straight, giving Adrian a sultry sidelong glance.
"I’ve already paid the fee; I can’t waste it. Mr. Law, try and manage with Mimi tonight. See you tomorrow~"
"Money-grubber..."
Adrian chuckled silently, elegantly adjusting his shirt collar.
"Shall I give you a ride then? That hotel’s a bit out of the way, and I’m worried..."
"No need, I’ll go by myself. If anything comes up, I’ll call you right away."
"All right then, I’ve got Wyatt to get you a Volkswagen Phaeton waiting in the underground garage. You should drive that; it’s better than that grocery-getter of yours."
"Yes, sir! I’m off!"
Smiling broadly, Cecilia went to tidy up her appearance. She was already late anyway, and surely no one would pay her special attention.
...
In the dressing room.
Cecilia looked through her clothes with a bit of exasperation, finding very few suitable options. Mainly because Adrian’s affection left too obvious marks, even on her neck, driving her crazy.
Too lazy to do her makeup—not to mention lacking the time for it—she grabbed a turtleneck and casually threw on a long white down jacket, giving her a fresh and clean look as she headed out.
...
Before she knew it, it was six in the evening, dusk was falling, and the city lights were beginning to glow.
In Stellerton, The Majestic Springs Grand Hotel was entirely reserved for Stellerton First High’s Class A students.
Suddenly, three girls walked in from the entrance, causing a stir.
Leading the trio was Chloe Alden, who wore heavy nightclub-style makeup and a little black mini dress covered in rhinestones, almost as if she wanted everyone to know how rich she was.
She had been a regular in the Class A alumni chat group, so everyone recognized her at first glance.
A few boys exchanged knowing glances at Chloe Alden’s nearly thigh-high mini skirt, grinning slyly.
"Wow, Eldest Miss Alden hasn’t changed her style even after all these years, impressive... But those legs sure are tempting to touch."
Once troublemaker of the school, Chloe Alden bullied both boys and girls, making many girls sick to their stomachs just being around her.
"Ugh, she looks like a nightclub girl, all flashy and sexy. You guys have terrible taste. If Chloe Alden didn’t have money, would you even consider marrying her?"
"Marry, no; but with a body like that, who wouldn’t have fun?"
The boy chatting along was suddenly entranced by a peachy pink figure behind Chloe Alden.
"Wow, look, who’s standing with Chloe Alden! So classy!"
Even the girl who had just been criticizing Chloe couldn’t help but widen her eyes, nearly jumping with excitement.
"My God, that’s Fiona Vaughn! A big star, and she’s really here! She skipped the past two reunions, right?"
Compared to Chloe’s gaudy, nouveau riche outfit, Fiona looked like an angel!
Among the entire crowd, she was the most stunning.
All the boys simultaneously put down their wine, practically drooling over her.
"A goddess! Even more beautiful than on TV! Quick, quick, I need to get her autograph!"
Fiona was satisfied with the effects of her entrance, stepping confidently in her eight-centimeter stiletto heels, her smile growing increasingly serene.
Katherine North, who was assisting Fiona, was inwardly envious upon hearing the crowd’s chatter.
—She wasn’t even a Class A student, yet due to her role as Stellerton University’s campus beauty, she found herself forced to be Chloe’s sidekick, now even taking care of the pregnant Fiona.
Being summoned last minute, she wore a rushed light makeup, and if she’d known it was a banquet, she would’ve hired a stylist.
Even Katherine felt this way; seeing those excited faces of the guests couldn’t help but make Chloe a little envious as well.
"Fiona, you’re a spotlight stealer no matter where you go. I dressed up nicely today too," she said.
Fiona smiled gently, affectionately wrapping an arm around Chloe’s.
"Chloe, you’re too modest. You look absolutely stunning today, and your body is even better than mine, I’m envious."
Looking at her own mini black dress, Chloe beamed with joy.
"Really?"
Katherine rolled her eyes internally, thinking it was nonsense because Chloe’s outfit only served to highlight Fiona’s elegance!
Of course, she dared not voice her thoughts.
At that moment, a girl who knew fashion approached with admiration painted on her face.
"Wow, Fiona, you look gorgeous today. Is that dress from Master Eric’s winter haute couture collection? The Second Young Master Law really spoils you!"
