Chapter 316: Chapter 316: High School Reunion

Cecilia stood in the corridor outside the women’s changing room, unable to resist her anxious shout.

"Claire, are you in there? Young Master Grant asked me to find you. If you hear me, could you please respond?"

After all, Jude was a man, so he felt it was inappropriate to come over himself, and thus asked Cecilia to look for her.

...

Jude sent someone to find her...

Claire Sinclair collapsed to the floor, her body stiff as a board, her heart feeling like it was being devoured by countless ants.

A tear, as large as a bean, trailed down from the corner of her eye.

The girl sniffed, finally forcing herself to suppress all the discomfort and embarrassment she felt in her heart, and managed to stand up.

"Cecilia, I’m fine. I just took a while changing clothes, sorry to make you worry."

Claire forced a slight smile, pushed open the door of the changing room, and walked out.

Cecilia looked at Claire with some concern, feeling that this girl’s state was not quite right.

"Claire, is your blood sugar too low? We almost thought you’d fainted in there."

"No, I just finished eating, how could it be low blood sugar."

Claire shook her head and moved from the shadowy area into the light, her eye corners a suspicious red.

--Though she had naturally wiped away her tears before coming out, her reddened eyes looked as if she had been crying.

"Claire, is it because Doctor Prescott rejected you earlier, and you felt upset, so you came here to cry?"

Cecilia was suddenly taken aback. Girls have delicate thoughts, but no matter how clever Cecilia was, she couldn’t fathom how Zion could have "bullied" Claire.

After all, in Cecilia’s memory, Zion Prescott was skilled in medicine, refined and gentle, and was the one she admired most among Adrian Law’s friends, far more popular than a playboy like Felix Lockwood.

Claire’s heart was a tangled mess; she didn’t want to discuss anything related to Zion right now and could only shake her head with a smile.

"Don’t imagine things. I just got some sand in my eyes."

The two walked back to the room, and only then did Claire realize that Jude was the only one left.

The others had left long ago.

"Claire, why did you take so long?"

Seeing the sunny boy with tan skin, Claire suddenly felt an overwhelming sense of shame.

"I... I’m sorry to have kept you waiting."

"Oh, silly girl, why are you apologizing to me? It’s natural for men to wait for women. I could wait for you my whole life."

Jude rubbed his nose, his youthful eyes sparkling as if filled with countless lights.

Wait for her a lifetime...

Claire felt a pang in her heart.

In her mind, Zion Prescott’s handsome face with his gold-rimmed glasses surfaced involuntarily, his gaze so cold, it almost froze her insides.

--I’ll give you one month to break up with Jude.

Jude looked at Claire with a silly smile, the affection in his eyes impossible to fake.

Cecilia smiled, watching this young couple made her feel a sweetness in her heart, for once being fed some "dog food" by a pair that instantly clicked with her.

"Alright, I’m leaving then. Claire, remember to review the script well over the next few days, I’m looking forward to you playing my leading lady."

"Okay, I’ll do my best."

Claire nodded and smiled at Cecilia.

Yet, it was her fingers twisting behind her back that betrayed just how turbulent her mind was at the moment.

Jude, being oblivious, didn’t notice his girlfriend’s unease; instead, he hugged her and spun her around.

"Claire, you look great in this outfit. I always knew you were the most beautiful."

"Mm..."

Claire smiled sorrowfully, resting her head gently on the boy’s shoulder.

Jude, I’m sorry...

I might not be able to be with you.

But how I wish this moment could last a little longer, just a little longer.

...

Cecilia bid farewell to the young couple, her mood greatly improved.

As the creator of the comic "There are branches on the mountain," now being adapted into a movie, she did have some concerns about the leads.

But for now, everything seemed promising.

Perhaps, Claire, playing the lead, could rise to great heights.

For a newcomer, it truly was an exceptional starting point.

Cecilia reflected inwardly, pleased for her new friend.

She drove back to Starfall Bay in her rather ordinary gray Volkswagen.

Entering Starfall Bay, she didn’t see her brother’s figure, only Adrian law working intently with his Apple laptop, typing away.

He seemed focused on his work and didn’t notice she had returned home.

Cecilia gently knocked on the door.

"What are you focusing on so intently?"

"Nothing much, Zion sent me a few messages. It seems he has encountered some tricky private issue, but unfortunately, there’s nothing I can do to help him."

Adrian Law closed the lid of his laptop without a fuss and smiled at Cecilia, his handsome face emanating a warm glow under the small night lamp.

"Is it that strange? Doctor Prescott is such a transparent person, could he have tricky private issues?"

Cecilia clicked her tongue in surprise.

Thinking of Zion Prescott’s flawless gentle smile always made her feel as if someone like him shouldn’t have any worries.

Because he looked at everything with detachment.

Adrian’s eyes curved slightly, and he reached out his slender fingers to tap Cecilia’s cheek.

"Is it that strange? Zion is human too, and humans have moments they can’t figure out. If he could transcend the boundaries of human nature, he probably wouldn’t belong to the human race."

"...You speak in such profound terms."

Cecilia shrugged.

She knew it was rather improper to pry into others’ privacy, especially since Adrian didn’t elaborate, implying Doctor Prescott also had his unspoken troubles, so Cecilia didn’t press further and instead focused on her brother.

"By the way, where’s my brother, why don’t I see him?"

"Evan said the senior year’s workload is heavy, and he still feels more motivated to study at school, so I had Wyatt send him back."

"This kid... Could it be that I annoyed him by calling him out, and he left because of that?"

Adrian reached out and pulled her into his embrace.

"It’s possible, Ceci. According to Evan, you two are naturally incompatible siblings."

Cecilia rolled her eyes and quickly sat down nonchalantly.

"...Nonsense, it’s clearly he who doesn’t get over it and insists on bickering with me. Having such a good sister, he still always complains I’m not right for you, Mr. Law. As Grandma puts it, without me, you’d live out your days alone."

Adrian chuckled, his deep gaze couldn’t help but push the girl onto the sofa, and his large hand moved along Cecilia’s waist.

"It seems I’ll never be able to leave you, my lady, for the rest of my life."

"Hey... you’re too much... don’t kiss there..."

...

Outside, it was a winter wonderland, but indoors, spring was in full bloom.

Cecilia and Adrian had a wild night.

When she got up the next morning, she suddenly remembered that today was the day of the high school reunion!
