Chapter 371: Chapter 368: What Do You Want to Do?
Quentin Grant wrapped an arm around her shoulder and murmured adoringly, "You’re the only one I want to have my children with."
Nora Ainsworth squirmed a little. "The children and Ethan are here."
"So what if they are?" He took her hand and stood up. "We’re heading back in an hour. The longer we drag this out, the worse it will be."
"Understood," Ethan Ellsworth said, sitting in the living room.
Quentin Grant and Nora Ainsworth returned to the bedroom together.
The moment the door closed, he pinned her against it. "Nora, promise me you won’t just disappear on me again."
She pressed her lips into a smile and tapped him on the chest. "What’s gotten into you? Aren’t we doing fine right now? I’m not going to just disappear on you. I’m waiting for you and Ethan to rescue Chloe."
"I just can’t shake this feeling of dread. I’m constantly terrified I’m going to lose you."
She cupped his face with both hands, gave his cheeks a little squeeze, and laughed. "Don’t be so dramatic. I love how things are now—our little family of four, happy and whole. I’m not an idiot; I’m not going to just play the disappearing act for no reason."
"That’s good to hear. Your man has to leave soon, so... want to go get all nice and clean and wait for me to do a little something?"
Nora blushed, nodding. "Yes."
They both showered, taking just over ten minutes to rinse off quickly.
Mindful of the time, Nora lay half-reclined on the bed, wrapped only in a bath towel. The heat was on, so the room was quite warm.
He quickly climbed onto the bed, his hands starting to wander.
"What do you think you’re doing?"
The smile never left his eyes. "What do you think I want to do? Of course I want to!"
A blush spread across Nora Ainsworth’s cheeks, and she huffed. "You’re a father now, and you still have no sense of decency."
"What do I need decency for? It’s useless and totally not my style."
"Can you grant me a request?"
Quentin Grant hovered over her, finding her especially captivating under the light.
"My dear, you don’t need to be so formal. There’s no need for pleasantries between us. If you have an order, just give it."
A warm, sweet feeling spread through Nora Ainsworth. "I just want to ask you not to tell your family about our two little treasures just yet. I don’t want to go back home right now. I refuse to return in such a sorry state."
"I know what you mean. You want to stand on your own two feet. All right. That’s a small thing. If you want me to tell them, I will. If not, I won’t. Whatever you want."
Only then did Nora Ainsworth’s heart settle. "Mhm. Quentin, I love you."
She turned her head aside, looking away.
He turned her face back to his, his expression full of glee. "Say it again. I want to hear it."
"I love you."
"Say it again!"
"I love you!!!" Nora Ainsworth’s voice rose unconsciously, so much so that the people outside the door heard it too.
"I love you too, Nora. My woman. I’ll love you for the rest of my life."
Nora Ainsworth nodded, wrapped her arms around his neck, and initiated a kiss.
He returned it with possessive passion.
Their breaths were hot and heavy.
They were together, calm and at peace. For the past few days, their happiness had stemmed from simply having each other by their side. Though their life now seemed to flow as smoothly as a river, the journey had been anything but easy. They would cherish one another, never to abandon, never to give up.
Forty minutes was far, far too little time for Quentin Grant.
He wished he could just die in her embrace!
But reality was always cruel.
He lingered, unwilling to get up.
Finally, after Ethan Ellsworth reminded him time and again that the private jet was waiting at the airport...
...Quentin Grant finally, unhurriedly, put on his suit. Nora Ainsworth tied his tie for him with her own hands.
Looking sharp and composed, he opened the bedroom door.
Ethan Ellsworth commented lightly, "Done with your business?"
"Uh-huh," he said nonchalantly. "Time was too short. Didn’t quite finish."
Ethan Ellsworth couldn’t help but curse. "Holy shit! Are you a jackhammer or something?"
"Pretty much. Let’s go."
Nora Ainsworth and her two little treasures saw them off downstairs. Watching their figures disappear into the darkness, the mother and her two sons went back upstairs.
"Mommy, you and Daddy kept shouting ’I love you’ in the room. Were you guys that excited?" Elmer asked, confused.
"You’re just a child. You wouldn’t understand grown-up business."
Elmer felt like his mommy was insulting his intelligence.
"I understand everything."
Nora pushed open the door and walked in. "Close the door. Tell me, what is it you understand?"
"Like how you got me and my big brother, for instance. And where I came from."
Nora froze and turned around. "Why don’t you tell me, then? How did you and your brother come to be?"
Elmer sat down on the sofa, brimming with confidence, and spread his hands. "That’s easy. A sperm and an egg went on a date. They hit it off right away and got married, becoming one. The wedding must have been too intense, because they split in two, which made me and my brother. Then we took root in your tummy, Mommy, sprouted, blossomed, and bore fruit."
Nora nodded. "A bit crude, but the reasoning isn’t wrong. Makes some sense. So, do you know where Mommy gave birth to you and your brother?"
"Mommy, any idiot knows that. From your tummy, of course."
Nora let out a snort of laughter. "All right, Mommy gets it."
Dylan, however, glanced at Nora. "Mommy, Elmer and I actually know where we came from. Since we weren’t born by C-section, we obviously weren’t taken out of your stomach."
"Who told you that?"
"Does someone need to tell us that?" Dylan rolled his eyes. "What can’t you find on the internet? Once you can read enough, you know everything."
"The internet..." Nora said through gritted teeth. "It really is a wonderful thing!"
"Mommy, Mommy! You don’t even know! Big brother goes on all sorts of forums every day. He knows all about current events, domestic and international, and all the latest gossip!"
"That’s not stuff you two should be paying attention to right now. Or else I’ll confiscate the computer. Now, sweethearts, wash up and go to bed. Mommy’s going to bed, too."
The two treasures said in unison, "Goodnight, Mommy!"
"Goodnight."
*
Ethan Ellsworth and Quentin Grant boarded the plane together. They both slept for over five hours, arriving at the Alveria airport at one in the morning.
The secretary, having been notified in advance, was waiting for them at the airport with a car.
Once in the car, Quentin Grant crossed his legs, rested his hands on his lap, and asked, "Anything major happen at the company these past few days?"
Secretary Lynch shook his head. "No, Boss. I’ve taken care of everything that needed to be handled. I’ve already updated you on most of it online."
"Mm."
"..."
The car sped toward the Ellsworth Residence.
Quentin Grant opened the car door for Ethan Ellsworth, saying, "I’m going to the Capital myself in the morning. Wait for word from me."
"Okay."
Ethan Ellsworth got out of the car. For some reason, he walked very quickly, a subtle urge in his heart to tell his family about Dorothy.
"The young master is back!"
At these words, the sleeping Ellsworth couple and Zoe Ellsworth all threw on some robes and rushed downstairs.
"Son, what are you doing home at this hour?"
"Mhm, I had dinner before heading back." Ethan looked at a servant. "Get me a cup of coffee."
