Chapter 92: My Reality Shattered
Fate was busy with the preparations for the meeting of the lords that was going to happen in a few days’ time. He had to make sure everything was ready to show off properly.
Ruby informed him that she planned on making the food for this event, which amused Fate. If his wife could make a cheeseburger from an old book, then he could not wait to see what she would do with this meal.
Looking at the maids under Ruby’s command as they went around to decorate his massive dining hall, Fate began to give them instructions on how to properly show off.
"Ladies, please go and get the new solid gold silverware and my new hollowed-out gem cups. What better way to enjoy a drink than to drink it inside a precious gem cup? Also, please don’t forget to bring out the good furniture because I want my subordinate nobles to enjoy their meal."
Ruby was by Fate’s side, making sure that the things he requested were made ready for this meeting. She was having the entire manufacturing wing of Phoenix Rising work overtime to prepare the gaudy and obnoxious things that would scream how rich and superior Fate was in front of these traitors.
Very quickly, the formal dining hall was being made into an obscenely gaudy display of wealth and power.
Moving on from the dining room, Fate looked at Ruby and said with an amused smile, "So, Ruby, I hear that I have a swimming pool made from the tears of my enemies."
Ruby looked at Fate and said with a bashful smile, "Fate, I thought it would be good if you had a pool like that to add to your ever-growing collection of places for us to practice our aquatic exercises."
Fate raised his eyebrow, then said with an amused tone, "I don’t mind the pool of tears, but that is not something I’m going to use. It can just be a status symbol thing. There is no need to actually use it. But moving on from the pool issue, I’ve heard that the saintess Mary Jane Dawson is in town now, and let’s go deal with her because if I remember that woman correctly, this is going to be fun."
Ruby looked a little shocked that Fate knew Mary Jane Dawson was already in Shadow Spire Citadel. As expected of a god, he even knows where others are at all times. There is nothing that can hide from her husband’s eyes.
In reality, Fate just figured that egotistical woman would be on her way to see him, and he was looking forward to it because he wanted to make a few fat jokes.
Ruby smiled and said to Fate, "Husband, the saintess has already arrived here. She is waiting for you in the throne room."
Fate jumped when Ruby called his audience chamber a throne room. Did Ruby just raise a flag for him? Well, what is the worst that can happen with a penguin like Mary Jane waddling her way into his home?
Ruby and Fate made their way to the "Throne Room," where Fate’s eyes bulged for a moment before he yelled out loud after seeing Mary Jane Dawson.
"Oh my God, Ruby, they have multiplied!"
Somehow, Mary Jane Dawson waddled her way through those doors, and along with her came two dozen of the fattest men Fate had ever seen. These guards were pushing a pig trotter food stall with them. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm
Mary Jane heard the voice in the background, but before she addressed Fate, she said to her guards, "Okay, everyone, remember teamwork makes the dream work. So I knew it was a good idea to buy the entire pig trotter stall and have you make them for me while we travel. Now I have my own food stall following behind me wherever I go. This is only the beginning. Someday, I envision an entire convoy of food stalls following me and my entourage."
If you’re wondering what happened to Pig Trotter, well, he got paid, son. So now he is hard at work on the pig trotter food stall V2.0 for the next time Mary Jane is walking the streets.
Fate walked closer to Mary Jane to get a closer look at her, and when he saw the bearded woman wearing white, a shudder came from the very depths of his soul. Words could not describe what he was seeing right now.
Mary Jane saw Fate and smiled at him as she shuffled her way up to stand in front of him. With a smile on her face, Mary Jane took a deep breath and said to Fate, "Fate Grimsever, it is a pleasure to meet you. I am the Saintess of The Church Of Divine Promises, Mary Jane Dawson. I’m here to ask if you would be so kind as to accompany me for a walk through the city. I’ve heard of your love and care for your people, so you would never turn down a beautiful woman like me who wants to get to know you better, would you?"
Fate looked at Ruby, seeing her snicker at him, then he rolled his eyes at her childish behavior. Fate did not even take a second to think it over before he said his response.
"No!"
Mary Jane Dawson could swear that she heard this man in front of her, a lowly Duke, say no to her. Not able to believe her ears, she looked at Fate with a serious look and said, "What do you mean, no? There is no way you would dare to turn me down. I’m the most beautiful woman that you have ever had the honor of gazing at before. My smile causes the sun to rise in the morning. How can you reject perfection?"
Fate was having fun with this heroine. She is the most delusional one out of all of Nimrod’s various harem members. With a smile on his face, Fate held out his hands to Ruby, and she gave him a bucket of hot, soapy water.
Fate lifted the bucket up and poured its entire contents onto Mary Jane’s head.
*Woosh*
Mary Jane had a bunch of water poured on her head. Feeling a sudden surge of anger, Mary Jane yelled, "Fate Grimsever, what is the meaning of this?"
Fate threw the bucket into the air and smiled when it landed on the head of one of Mary Jane’s fat Templars. Then he looked at Mary Jane and said, "First of all, you need a bath. You are stinking up the place with your foul bacon breath. I never knew that it was true what they say until today. You are what you eat, and lady, you are a pig in that blanket you call a robe. As for being beautiful, here, look at this mirror for a second and tell me what you see."
Mary Jane, now shaking in anger, looked at the hand mirror that Ruby gave Fate to let her look into. When she looked into it, suddenly small cracks began to form on it until two seconds later.
*Crack*
*Shatter*
The mirror she was looking into suddenly broke into thousands of tiny pieces, preventing her from admiring her beauty.
Shaking in even more anger, and with the ground under her feet trembling along with her, Mary Jane said to Fate, "What are you saying? That I’m not beautiful? Because that is naturally impossible."
Mary Jane looked at her fat Templars for support.
