Chapter 55: What I’m The Local Extortionist
Sir Cut-n-Run was happy to hear this because he always liked to be useful.
Then Ruby revealed his future role to him, saying, "Sir Cut-n-Run, how would you feel about being a tax collector/goon? So far, my normal city guards have been oppressing the local nobility and church, but now not only do they have to deal with them, but we also have many foreign nations sending nobility and merchants to my husband’s city. As a result, we are stretched kind of thin with intimidating them all and squeezing them dry of their ill-gotten gains. Not only them, but even Crown Prince Nimrod Bloodsworn has come to Valoria to attend Bloomspire Academy, one of the places that owes my husband an immense amount of taxes. Can you help us with these outrageous individuals who refuse to be bullied?"
Sir Cut-n-Run said with an almost fervent worship in his voice, "Yes, Fire Mother, you can count on this old man and his soon-to-arrive friends to carry out this mission to bully the local gentry for you. I’ve literally been training for this moment all my life. This is just like the old days at court with King Edmund."
Ruby grew surprised at this old man’s enthusiasm for embezzling money. In fact, Ruby was almost surprised that Sir Cut-n-Run did not burst into spontaneous song and dance. She had heard stories about how eccentric and enthusiastic the senior generation was in their day.
Sir Cut-n-Run looked at Ruby and asked her, "Ruby, did you want to go swimming in the lava? I just tested it, and the temperature was just right."
Ruby looked at the lava pits that dotted the ever-growing green fields of Chaos Infernum, then at Backstab with his long blond hair that had many new split ends on them. Ruby shook her head and said, "No thank you, Backstab. I’m not in the mood to get any new split ends in my hair."
At this moment, Sir Cut-n-Run noticed his own split ends and said, "Damn, when did I get all of these split ends in my hair? Hold on, little Ruby, let me teach you a trick from the senior generation to fix this issue."
Then Backstab took a deep breath and yelled, "Oi, you bastard split ends, straighten up and straighten out, or else."
As Backstab said this, he held his fist in the air as if he was going to hit his own split ends. This shockingly seemed to work, as hard as it was to believe. Backstab’s own hair jumped in fright and then quickly healed itself.
Ruby looked at this, shocked, thinking she had seen it all. But today, Ruby realized that compared to the senior generation, she is like a frog at the bottom of a well. Amara felt like this was a great experience since she spent a good chunk of her younger years as a Lich. Amara could not wait to threaten her own hair into submission.
Ruby wanted to go home and try this out right away. She often gets split ends and other problems after her intense pool workout sessions with Fate, especially when Amara forces her way into their aquatic aerobics sessions.
Ruby decided to let Backstab get used to his new position, so she and Amara said goodbye to the Sword Saint and left him behind to plan how to be a proper extortionist. As Amara traveled back to Valoria with Ruby, she looked around the area that they appeared in when leaving the portal to Chaos Infernum. Then an idea suddenly struck Amara as she turned to look at Ruby and said, "Ruby, why don’t we simply move this portal back to the Infernal Palace rather than leave it here in the open? It would be easier to defend it then."
Ruby thought about this suggestion, then shook her head and said, "No, that would be foolish, Amara. We can’t simply rely on placing all of our bets on Valoria. We both know that the forces that are after us and our sisters are numerous. It would be better to have more than one place to fall back to in the event that Valoria is overrun with enemies. A better idea would be to use this territory that no one occupies and build an inconspicuous city above and below ground. Then we can camouflage it with magic and a bunch of the death plants that are growing in Chaos Infernum. It will make this area into a forbidden zone that the Adventurers Guild will advise people not to go near. Thanks to the Faithful that we have working there, this can easily be achieved."
With this thought in mind, Amara and Ruby spent the day mapping out the new city that would soon be built here as a fallback base for Phoenix Rising should the unlikely happen and Valoria fell into the hands of someone else. After several hours of planning, they left the entrance to Chaos Infernum with a detailed plan in mind on how to set up their new city.
After returning to Valoria, Ruby and Amara got to work creating a large-scale teleportation zone inside of the Infernal Palace that will serve as a way to travel to their new territory quickly and, in an emergency, a way to flee Valoria if something bad should happen.
The undead hordes under Amara’s command were moved out to Chaos Infernum to begin construction of this new city and lay down defensive measures. Fate found Ruby and Amara sitting with him at supper after they both went missing for several days.
He wanted to ask what they were working on but decided that it was best not to know. Fate enjoys his plausible deniability and the sense of peace that it brings to his daily life.
Looking at the two women, Fate put on a serious face and said to Ruby, "Ruby, you have not been home in several days and missed your meals with me. So as punishment, tonight you have to be my dessert. So I expect you to be prepared for some suitable punishment."
Ruby had a massive blush on her face as she lowered her head, eating her soup in silence. Amara began to pout and was twirling the drink in her glass with a look of disappointment on her face. Fate noticed this and smiled, saying, "Don’t pout, Amara. You get a very special punishment as well, along with Ruby, so come on, let’s move on to dessert time." freewebnovel.cσ๓
Then the door of the dining hall closed as various sounds of moans and panting could be heard coming from inside for the rest of the night until morning came. The doors of the dining hall opened, and Ruby and Amara walked out with disheveled hair and a limp in their steps. Their clothing appeared torn, and if you looked closely at them, you would notice that they both had slightly red handprints on their pert white butts.
They had spent the night being ridden hard around the dining hall by their husband.
