Chapter 108: The Prophet Of Perdition

With a smile on his face, Fate waved his hand and said to Sam,

"It’s okay if this quest is only an E-rank quest. I’m feeling compelled to look into this goblin situation, even if I don’t rank up with the guild this time. My concerns with these goblins are more important than some nonsense guild rank. Besides, soon enough I will climb from F rank up to the elite S rank, but I’m not in a hurry to rush there right now. The fact that women and children are in danger is a more pressing issue to me at the moment."

Sam smiled happily at her god’s care for the defenseless people in small villages. This is why so many in Phoenix Rising are so obsessed with Fate.

He is always concerned about the little people and does not care about rich nobles and their money at all.

Sam, with a smile on her face, said to Fate,

"Very well, give me your guild ID card and I will register this guild quest for you. If this quest turns out to be more than just a few goblins showing up, I may be able to increase your guild rank despite the low level of this quest."

Fate nodded and handed over his guild ID to receive the quest. A few moments later, Sam gave it back to him. Fate then made his way out of the student branch of the Adventurers Guild.

On his way back to Shadow Spire Citadel, he ran into both Ruby and Amara. They both had their horses packed and had Fate’s horse, Janus, with them. Fate just smiled; these two must have heard about him taking a quest, so they got everything ready for their trip already.

With a quick jump, Fate mounted his horse and looked at Amara.

"Let’s not waste too much time. You both already knew I was going to take you on a quest before the opening of Bloomspire Academy and my own school, Hope Ends Academy. Well, I found us something interesting to look into. It seems that goblins have been seen in my territory, and I want to know where these foul creatures came from. They are supposed to be extinct. I wonder if they are like the Void Beasts and someone lets these little shits loose in my territory on purpose. I can’t turn a blind eye to the suffering of children and women. The last thing I want is a peasant revolt."

The three left Valoria behind them as they made their way towards the small rural village of Oni, where these goblins had last been spotted.

On their way to Oni, Fate, accompanied by Ruby and Amara, passed by the place where Fate had been reincarnated into this world.

The giant unnamed mansion that Fate had stripped of all its wealth. Deciding to stop by his first home, the three pulled onto the road leading to his old home.

Fate began to frown the closer he got to the mansion. All of the surrounding plant life seemed to have been killed by something.

Fate did not need to be a genius to figure out what killed all of the wildlife and plants in this area, but Amara spoke the words on Fate’s mind before he could.

"This is the work of those damn Void Beasts. Why would they turn your old home into one of their nests, Fate?"

Fate could only sigh as he said to Amara and Ruby,

"This is the place where I received my divine Phoenix bloodline from the Dragon God Asmodeus. So if I had to guess, they are attracted to the abundant vitality that my bloodline awakening released into this area. The reason Void Beasts like to eat humans is not because of the taste but the vitality that our bodies contain. They use this power, along with Chaos Energy, to grow stronger. I never considered that these creatures would discover this place. That is an oversight that we will need to fix on this trip. The things we need to do just keep adding up. But we have been on the road for a few hours now; let’s rest for the rest of the night. Then we will continue to my old home tomorrow."

After setting up camp, Fate threw a bit of his Phoenix Fire into a pit on the ground to warm up the dead landscape around them. freёwebnovel.com

Fate would need to kill all of those Void Beasts if he wanted their Chaos Energy to stop killing everything in the surrounding wilderness. Ruby sat down on a log next to Fate as Amara took the first watch for the night.

Ruby smiled as she said to Fate,

"Fate, are these goblins or Void Beasts bothering you?"

Fate only shook his head as he said to Ruby with a smile,

"I don’t care about the Void Beasts too much, but they chose my old home to nest in, and that offends me a lot. As for the goblins, they are a blight on my land and need to be eliminated. It’s not the goblins that are the problem; it’s the fact that those shits target my citizens that bothers me.

If all of my poor and peasants disappear, that’s going to affect my future tax revenue when they eventually rise out of poverty due to my reforms in the territory. How can someone not become wealthy after all of my tax cuts? Once everyone gains a bunch of wealth in the next three years, I will swoop in and grab it all from them before anyone knows what hit them. We will make the nobles and wealthy into the new poor class after this. I can’t wait to count their tears of blood as they are forced to get a job."

Ruby could only smile. Her husband is always so concerned about the poor. Who knew that it was all so the current rich and noble elites could become poor themselves and only look up at those they once scorned as Fate led them into paradise? So this is all one grand plot by Fate.

Everything he does for the poor and disenfranchised is to raise a new class of rich elite to trash the old ones with. Ruby found this idea incredibly evil and cunning. She plans to carry out this scheme on a much grander scale when the time comes.

First, the kingdom of Westridge, then the rest of the continent of Vale. All of those scum that cursed and tortured her and the Sisters of Sorrow will pay for their crimes in the most painful way imaginable.

Ruby recalled the time they all met for the first time in front of the Prophet of Perdition. That woman said that Ruby was destined to destroy this world, all so that the petty ambitions of those in power could be realized.

That means even if she had given her body to King Samuel Bloodsworn, he would have still killed everyone she cared about and then abandoned her to carry out his evil scheme with the others who plotted this future for them.
