Chapter 1170: One Way To Put It
Anthony stared at the space where the Demon King had been before he was consumed by the Divine flames and sighed. He shook his head and lowered himself into a sitting position upon the planetary surface as he stared deep into the void in silence.
He had to admit it, the Demon King and God were stronger than he had anticipated. He was also personally stronger than he had anticipated. His sky-blue eyes shifted to the side where the torn Galaxy was stitching itself back together with remarkable speed after he, God, and the Demon King had destroyed it.
Although Anthony had saved a lot of lives within the Acarnis Galaxy by keeping the fight confined to the Rogue Planet, at the same time, he had wiped out an outrageous number due to the scale of the exchange of attacks between him, God, and the Demon King.
"It’s finally over, huh?" Anthony murmured aloud as he sat there without any particular thought.
If he hadn’t used Authority Of Severance to simply summon everybody, things would have dragged out and all that. But at the same time, he knew that a lot of people would have died due to his decision, as he hadn’t given them time to prepare. He hadn’t given them time to acquire a good number of various potions, for example.
Anthony wouldn’t lie, he had been tempted to spare the Demon King. After all, he and the Demon King didn’t particularly have any grudge against each other. He could have just taken the guy to the Upper Galaxy and unleashed him, just to see the kind of trouble the Demon King could stir up. But alas, Anthony had decided against it. Although he was confident he could always win against the Demon King, the same couldn’t be said for others.
The Demon King could simply get creative and go after his parents. Besides, Anthony was sure the guy possessed the same type of Mind and Soul Conversion technique that God had used against him.
"It was a fun battle," Anthony murmured to himself as though he were resting after the fight.
Personally, he had enjoyed every bit of it, every attack, every ability, every spell cast. Anthony had loved it all.
Remembering that he had told the system to stop guarding his mind and soul, Anthony instructed it to resume its protection since he was done fighting. All that remained now was the Ascension, and that was all.
But that meant starting from the bottom again.
He would be moving from a being who could destroy planets, stars, comets, and various constellations, even raze millions of kilometres into nothingness, into someone who would probably be destroying only trees and maybe be limited to a few hundred meters.
He sighed at the thought, then shook his head.
It didn’t matter. All he had to do was get to the top again and again. That way, he would finally get to ??? and see what was there, and maybe if there was anything even above that, although he had already concluded that there was nothing above it, he still kept an open mind.
’I wonder if, when I get to the Upper Galaxy, I can find the Milky Way Galaxy,’ Anthony thought to himself.
Since that was the Galaxy he had reincarnated from, it would surely exist, and the Upper Galaxies might keep records of the Lower Galaxies that Ascendants came from, or they might simply keep records of Lower Galaxies for farming reasons or whatever.
Anthony was a bit excited at the thought of finding Earth. After all, within the entire Acarnis Galaxy, not a single planet was called Earth, or even Blue Earth or anything of the sort, neither as a prefix nor a suffix.
’I wonder if the companies I worked for still exist, and also my classmates from university and college. I also wonder how many years have passed since then.’ Anthony sat with a huge smile on his face.
"I’ve truly come a long way," he mused aloud again. He hadn’t particularly faced any hardships in this life, which Anthony liked and preferred. He didn’t want his parents or friends dying just to feed him some motivational boost and all that crap.
"Indeed you have, Null Anthony," a voice echoed through the cosmos.
Anthony wasn’t surprised. With his senses, it was impossible not to detect the other party. freёwebnoѵel.com
The void quivered, Time particles trembled as a portal tore open, and from it, a being over seven feet tall came into view; the Spirit King. A being who once stood above Anthony, but was now weaker.
"It’s been a while, Spirit King," Anthony greeted with a small smile as he had no reason to be hostile toward the being.
The Spirit King sighed as Anthony greeted him. "It seems like just yesterday when you attended the Starborn Tournament. Who would have thought you would reach such a level so quickly?" he stated as he lowered himself into a sitting position beside Anthony.
Obviously, he had watched Anthony’s fight with the Demon King and God, together with various other ancient beings. The reason they hadn’t interfered to stop the Demon King or God was that the Acarnis Galaxy experienced its fair share of danger every now and then throughout the eons, and it always survived without their interference.
"Well, I hope I gave you and your ancient friends an entertaining battle to watch," Anthony replied jokingly with a light smile. There was no way he hadn’t sensed the gazes of those who were watching him, God, and the Demon King as though it were some sort of entertainment.
The Spirit King merely smiled and said nothing else. He was simply here because he wanted to come.
After a moment of silence, Anthony spoke. "Why didn’t you ascend?" His tone was calm.
The Spirit King was the very first Spirit within the Acarnis Galaxy. Obviously, the being possessed enough potential. A potential that surpassed even the Demon King and God, yet the Spirit King seemed not to have lived up to that potential, as people like God and the Demon King had eclipsed him in pure battle prowess through sheer will and training and pure ingeniousness.
The Spirit King stayed silent for a moment before replying, "Because I didn’t want to start from the beginning once again. Not everyone is as outrageous as you, who can get to the peak within a few years. People take billions of years to get to where you’ve gotten. And with the Upper Galaxy being more difficult, I imagine that time would only stretch further." He paused for a moment, his tone calm as he didn’t bother hiding anything. "So I decided to become a whale in a pond of fish rather than a fish in an ocean of whales," he stated in finality.
"So, in conclusion, you were afraid," Anthony summarized.
The Spirit King smiled as he spoke. "That’s one way to put it." His tone was amused.
Anthony didn’t judge the guy. As the Spirit King had said, not everyone was as outrageous as him. Getting to the Planetary Level took even ridiculously talented people like Bryan over a thousand years. Then, before they could truly ground their power and refine their combat abilities to the absolute peak, only the Heavens knew how many years or eons that would take.
