Chapter 429: Chapter 431: The Mirror Ghost

The middle-aged male ghost despaired. Su Nian had her foot on the back of his head, pinning his face to the floor.

But now, his head twisted a full 180 degrees to face Su Nian. The face that had been smiling moments ago was now contorted with hatred.

"You little b—"

Before he could finish, Su Nian raised her foot and stomped down. STOMP, STOMP.

She viciously crushed his head down. It had to be said, his skull was incredibly tough; the floorboards even dented beneath it.

Yet his head remained perfectly round. The tip of Su Nian’s foot rested on his face.

"What was that? A little louder, I can’t quite hear you!"

The middle-aged male ghost was truly in despair. Staring at Su Nian, who was glaring right back at him, he was on the verge of screaming.

’This is just bullying a ghost! At least let me say something.’

Su Nian’s foot pressed into his face, her expression one of utter disdain.

She ground her foot down forcefully. But in that split second, the middle-aged male ghost finally accepted his reality.

He turned his head away. "I was wrong! Can I join you?"

Su Nian didn’t waste any courtesy on him. She glanced up at him.

Then, she cleanly kicked him into the suit pocket.

Su Nian continued with her plan. To be honest, she didn’t care about the lives of these ghosts. Their transformation into ghosts here was an inevitable result of karma.

Especially since they had died so horribly, most of them hadn’t been good people in life. Anyone with half a brain could figure that out.

Su Nian turned and walked on, but she still couldn’t find the peeping ghost the female ghost in red had mentioned.

’Could it be this ghost doesn’t exist?’

Su Nian was puzzled, but she had definitely felt someone peeping at her the whole time.

But she had scoured every nook and cranny of this park and hadn’t encountered anything of the sort.

Besides, the ghosts in this park seemed to treat humans as food. If this ghost really existed, it should have found her by now.

’Or perhaps... it’s been watching from the very beginning and was too scared to show itself.’

Su Nian had nearly walked through the entire park, and after wandering around, she ended up back at the dry well.

Only this time, the scene had changed. The collapsed wooden cabin had, at some point, been repaired.

A smile played on Su Nian’s lips. She decided to go in and take a look. The cabin’s construction was a bit strange. The exterior looked like a dilapidated shack, but the inside was neatly renovated with a modern decor.

Su Nian walked inside. Everything was perfectly normal. The small cabin had been partitioned into a one-bedroom, one-living-room layout, complete with a small bathroom.

But just as Su Nian passed the bathroom, a black shadow flashed in the mirror, and a strange glint appeared in the scar-faced male ghost’s eyes.

Su Nian examined the mirror closely. On the other side of the glass, another ghost was observing her.

Su Nian pretended not to notice, acting as if she were just casually looking around before turning to leave. But as she did, the bathroom door suddenly seemed to lock itself, refusing to open.

Then, a shard of glass flew out from the mirror, shooting violently toward Su Nian, but she dodged it with ease.

Su Nian looked back. Even the female ghost in red and white, being dragged on the floor, struggled to turn her head and saw a ghost hiding in the mirror. Its face was a dark, bruised color, its features unclear.

It seemed to have retained its appearance from the moment of death. A large glass shard was embedded in its forehead, its face was torn to shreds and covered in scars, and its figure was stooped. It was a sordid, twisted thing, with hands like hooked claws. It stared grimly at Su Nian and let out a sinister chuckle.

Su Nian was standing very close to it. Seeing it advance, and especially outraged that it dared to try and stab her with a glass shard, she stepped forward to kick the mirror.

But as the last ghost to appear, it was clearly much harder to deal with than the others.

A normal ghost would have been sent flying by Su Nian’s kick, but this one agilely dodged it.

Seeing this, Su Nian didn’t rush. Instead, she unhurriedly put on a glove, pried a shard from the mirror, and stabbed it toward the ghost’s grim, twisted face.

However, the glass shard instantly shattered into pieces, clattering to the floor.

This dark ghost’s body, which had looked scorched and brittle, as if it were incredibly fragile, was actually as hard as a diamond.

The glass shard Su Nian held had no effect when she stabbed it; it just broke into pieces all over the floor.

This was the first setback Su Nian had encountered since she started fighting. The ghost relentlessly reached for her, a strange smile on its face, its claws like the gnarled, blackened feet of a chicken.

Su Nian lifted her foot. This time, her target was clear: she kicked it squarely in the chest. She put much more power into this kick, but it only knocked the ghost back a few steps and failed to stop its advance. The Mirror Ghost slowly crawled out of the mirror.

Su Nian seemed to have no effect on it. The few ghosts hiding behind her retreated worriedly. ’Don’t tell me things are about to go south?’

The scar-faced male ghost was especially nervous. He couldn’t help but glance around. He had always been Su Nian’s number-one lackey.

’If she fails, are the other ghosts going to beat me to death?’

He cautiously scanned his surroundings, swallowed hard, and prepared to flee at a moment’s notice.

They had only just met, after all. Of course he wasn’t going to stick by Su Nian and be her loyal underling.

The three ghosts in the suit pocket also saw what was happening. Their expressions darkened, unsure of how to react. ’This new one seems really powerful.’

Meanwhile, the middle-aged male ghost who had just been reluctantly recruited by Su Nian immediately changed sides and wriggled out.

"Quick, save me! I’m on your side!"

He spoke with frantic urgency as he scrambled out. ’It was this woman who framed me!’

"I’m telling you, this woman is terrifying! You have to be careful of her! Get me over there, and I’ll help you deal with her!"

But before he could finish speaking, Su Nian turned her head and gave him a ferocious smile, then grabbed his neck and twisted it around to face his back.

She wrenched his limbs, then sent him flying with a kick. Su Nian’s series of movements was too fast.

Before the other ghost could even react, the traitor’s body had been twisted into a pretzel and thrown away.

Even this didn’t stop the Mirror Ghost’s slow crawl. It continued to emerge from the mirror, bit by bit, at an unhurried pace.

Its face was dark and bizarre, wearing a malevolent smile as it stared intently at Su Nian.

But Su Nian also broke into a smile. This was the first time she had truly felt the Heavenly Dao’s determination to kill her.

But that was okay. The feeling was mutual.
