Chapter 202: Chapter 202

Kane POV

Axel and I have shared a special connection since birth. Sometimes we are so in sync that we do not even need to mind link. We just instinctively know what the other one is thinking. Now is no exception.

We leave Isolde’s office, and when our truck comes into sight, I gently, but firmly, push Elara into Braden’s arms.

“What the hell, Kane?” Elara shouts as Axel and I take off and sprint towards the truck.

Mason looks up in surprise when I yank open the door, and Axel grabs him by the shirt and roughly pulls him out of his seat. Axel’s fist connects with Mason’s jaw just as I punch him in the kidneys. Mason groans in pain, falling onto the road, but we are not even close to done. fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm

“Get up, fucker,” I grunt, pulling Mason to his feet and punching him in the face again.

“Not so tough now, are you?” Axel growls, kicking him in the ribs.

“It takes a big man to poison a woman, doesn’t it?” I snarl, bringing my boot down mercilessly on his balls.

Mason starts coughing, clamps his crown jewels with his hands and curls into a ball.

“Enough!” Elara shouts, placing herself between us and Mason.

“Are you insane?” She hisses. “We’re not in Constantine. We’re in a human city with human laws and human police. You’ll be locked up, and then what?”

I take deep breaths to calm my wolf, who is clawing at me. He is desperate to be set free and kill Mason. I look at Axel, and he is fighting the same battle.

Behind her, Mason gets onto his feet, his eyes glowing gold as he glares at us. My blood runs cold when he slightly smirks, and I realise he is up to something. He reaches for Elara, but I am faster. I grab her arm, and I yank her out of the way.

“Not today, fucker,” I growl, pushing Elara behind my back. “Today I’m fucking destroying you.”

In the distance, police sirens are howling, coming our way. It could be a coincidence, or someone who witnessed the fight called them. Either way, Elara is right. We cannot kill him here like we want to.

“We should get out of here,” Elara says firmly.

“Fine,” I huff, looking at Axel, and he nods. Killing Mason here is out of the question, but he is not stupid enough to get into the truck willingly. He knows what is waiting for him once we are outside city limits. We will have to force him into the truck.

“Thank you,” Elara sighs, opening the back door, but Axel and I storm towards Mason.

Mason POV

I ready myself when my brothers run towards me. If they think I am going to flee like a coward, they are sorely mistaken. They caught me off guard in the truck, but this time, I am ready.

I think it is safe to assume that they know about the affection potion and how it works. There is nothing I can say to talk me out of this, and honestly, I do not care to. It is about time to teach these two assholes a lesson. I might be outnumbered, but I did not grow up all padded in love. I have beaten worse odds than this as a teenager. And if they think I am above upholding our law of not shifting amongst humans, they are mistaken. I do not give a shit. Let the world know.

I wait until they are close enough before I kneel, grab a leg of each, and flip them off their feet. I do not wait for them to recover. I kick Axel in the gut before reaching for Kane’s hair. I lift his head and slam his face into the asphalt.

Elara screams at me to stop, but I shove his face again. Axel grabs me by the hair, planting his fist mercilessly into my lower back, and I let go of Kane. I allow Axel to swing me around, and as he does, I punch him in the groin. He releases my hair, and I grab him by the shoulders and headbutt him on the nose.

He stammers backwards, and I smile as I extend my claws for the kill. fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com

“No!” Elara screams, and a sudden gush of wind sends me flying across the street and into a car. The car’s alarm goes off, blaring through the streets.

I stand up, shaking off the dizziness, and swallow when I look at Elara. Her cheeks are flushed, and her hair is playing in the wind surrounding her. Her feet are no longer touching the ground, and the anger in her eyes is scaring me a little.

“You filthy son of a whore,” she hisses as she slowly glides through the air towards me. “I have been patient, sympathetic, and I have been covering for you the entire time. I stopped my mates from killing you, but now I’ll do it myself.”

But before either of us can do anything, police cars pull into the street from all directions. Elara lowers herself until her feet touch the street again, and I use the opportunity to duck behind a stationary car.

“Elara, we must get out, now!” Branden shouts, running towards an unconscious Kane.

“Not until I kill him,” Elara argues, her eyes searching for me.

“For fuck’s sake, Elara,” Braden protests. “You’re going to lose your mates.”

“Mason!” Her voice echoes around me. “This isn’t over.”

I peek over the car, watch Elara and Axel dragging Kane into the truck while Braden gets behind the wheel. They speed off, but the police are on their tail.

I sigh in relief when nobody notices me, and all the police cars follow them down the street. I fix my clothes, run my fingers through my hair and start walking to Stillwood. It is time for a new plan.
