Chapter 22: Teleportation

After running far enough and finally feeling safe, Mateo stopped.

He immediately summoned the Star Wheel from his Inventory.

DING!

(To use the Star Wheel, you must bind it with a drop of your blood!)

The notification made Mateo furrow his brows.

So it needed blood too, the very thing he feared, which was why he still hadn’t bound his weapons even though he possessed two A-Class Weapons, a greatsword and a dagger.

He wondered how he was supposed to make himself bleed.

The dagger suddenly appeared in his hand.

It was silver with black lines running across its surface.

Unlike the heavy greatsword, the dagger was incredibly light.

It seemed to have no special qualities aside from its sharpness, sharp enough to cut through anything.

Mateo realized he had no other choice.

He needed to overcome his fear.

Xiu!

He made a swift motion, placing the dagger against his finger.

Its sharpness instantly sliced through his skin and blood flowed out.

But before the pain signal could even reach his brain, the wound had already healed.

Mateo was left stunned.

If it was like this, then why had he been afraid in the first place?

Still, what frightened him had never been the pain itself. He had been hurt countless times by thorns before. What truly scared him was the act of injuring himself.

Of course, the blood was still there on his finger.

Mateo quickly smeared it onto the Star Wheel and the dagger.

Instantly, he felt a spiritual connection with both items, granting him control over the powers hidden within them.

For example, the dagger would become sharper the more power he poured into it.

And through the Star Wheel, he could vaguely sense everything within a radius of several meters around him.

As he infused Spiritual Energy into it, the radius expanded.

Ten meters, twenty meters, a hundred meters, then over one kilometer once he poured all his Spiritual Energy into the Star Wheel.

With a single thought, he could teleport anywhere within that radius.

As long as he didn’t teleport to the very edge of the range, the energy inside the Star Wheel wouldn’t be depleted instantly.

If he continuously supplied it with energy, the radius would continue expanding farther and farther.

Through it, he could also vaguely sense living beings, though he couldn’t determine their exact strength.

Curious, he decided to test it somewhere safe.

In an instant, the scenery around him changed. He appeared inside a dark cave that seemingly had no entrance at all.

No, this wasn’t a cave. It should be an underground chamber.

The air was fresh because countless tiny openings existed in the ceiling above.

Mateo let out a sigh of relief. At least he had found a safe place.

He stretched his body and sat atop a rock.

A glowing orb appeared above his palm. Its outer layer was transparent while the inside swirled with various colors.

Tier 1 Mastery Orb.

If swallowed, it could increase the mastery of a Codex Magica or Technique by up to 10%. All one had to do was focus on what they wanted to improve.

After thinking for a while, Mateo swallowed it.

Instantly, he felt a strange reaction. fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com

No light erupted outward, but it felt as though electric currents were endlessly flowing through his brain.

The moment he focused on Life Power Armor, it completely filled his thoughts, making him forget everything else.

Miraculously, all the complicated concepts that had confused him suddenly became clear.

Though not entirely. The reaction stopped once his mastery increased by 10%.

[Codex Magica:]

Life Power Armor > 17.5% (S-Class Codex Magica)

Fire Ghost > 15% (S-Class Codex Magica)

From 7.5% to 17.5%, the difference was naturally enormous.

He could now directly extract his Primordial Life Element, condensing its essence into a far smaller form so that tens of thousands of liters could become a tiny bottle while retaining the same effect.

Most importantly, the Life Power Armor he created now covered his entire torso, from his neck down to his waist.

It also increased his speed in absorbing Spiritual Energy.

Mateo took out the Spiritual Neon and began absorbing Spiritual Energy.

It doesn’t matter that there’s no System Points reward because he’s using external assistance; what matters is that he can absorb it more quickly.

With the added effect of Spiritual Neon, he absorbed 3 points of Spiritual Energy every ten seconds.

His motivation instantly soared and he completely immersed himself in the process.

Hours passed just like that.

He didn’t stop after only a few hours and continued absorbing Spiritual Energy nonstop.

Once he immersed himself in it, he lost all sense of time.

He knew this was the most direct way to strengthen himself.

The only thing that finally stopped him was realizing his body could no longer continue.

[Magic Realm: Adept]

[Spiritual Energy: 20,000/100,000] +20,000

[Spiritual Energy Accumulation: 31,000] ×10

Such tremendous growth, and the reason it stopped was because his Diamond Bones had only reached 20%.

Looking at Earth’s time through the System, Mateo took a deep breath.

Almost twenty hours had passed, and it was already 6 AM on Earth.

He immediately thought about logging out.

And what he felt wasn’t a refreshed body, but an extremely exhausted one.

His stomach felt unbearably hungry.

"Oh, you’re finally awake? I was just about to forcefully wake you up. You know, even I’ve never stayed in Magic World for this long."

Jack’s voice echoed out as Mateo saw him stepping out of the bathroom.

"I even had Alice looking for you last night. She actually came here herself, but she told me not to wake you unless you stayed asleep for twenty-four hours."

Mateo barely processed what he was saying.

The moment he saw the bread on the table, he immediately grabbed it and devoured it ravenously.

Even a pig would feel ashamed seeing the way he ate.

But the bread was also incredibly delicious.

It clearly wasn’t the cheap bread he usually bought.

Once he finished eating, he finally felt energized again.

"Mateo, what were you doing for so long?" Jack asked curiously.

"Just absorbing Spiritual Energy," Mateo replied.

"Were you serious about Alice coming here?" he asked afterward.

"Yeah, she really came. The bread you just ate was bought by her."

"What did she say?"

"Nothing much. She was just looking for you. She probably wanted another date with you... Honestly, Mateo, do you secretly have some kind of magic in the real world? From what I can see, Alice seriously looks like a girl going through her first love."

"What kind of nonsense are you talking about?" Mateo rolled his eyes.

"I’m speaking facts. You should be the one taking the initiative. With how she feels about you right now, you could probably get anything from her. And that’s exactly what she wants."
