Chapter 21: Star Wheel

Mateo reacted quickly, unleashing a Fire Ghost Wave that instantly swallowed the giant rat whole.

DING!

(You have killed a Level 16 Monster. You obtained 1 Point of Heaven Path Soul Energy and 10 System Points!)

[System Points: 65]

[Soul:]

Heaven Path Soul > 1 (SSS Class Soul)

The notification appeared immediately afterward, and Mateo could only roll his eyes at how quickly his flames had killed the rat.

He was no longer surprised by such a small reward.

Even though it was Level 16, it was clearly nowhere near as powerful as the Level 11 Boss Monster, and even that boss had turned to ashes beneath his flames.

Mateo could only wonder whether there were any monsters at the same level that could truly match him.

The problem was that he still had not obtained a Monster Core until now.

He then continued deeper into the area.

As he advanced farther in, he noticed the ground gradually sloping downward. It felt as though he was descending a mountain, yet the deeper he went, the taller the grass became, making the height of the grass near the outer edge and the inner area of the Grass Forest appear almost the same.

Whiz! Whiz! Whiz!

Mateo suddenly heard faint footsteps ahead of him, causing him to stop and crouch down.

This time, he was fairly certain it was the sound of human footsteps.

To be safe, he concealed himself beneath a pile of dry grass.

"Damn it!"

A curse rang out before Mateo even saw the people approaching.

He froze for a moment after hearing the voice.

Wasn’t that Lucas White’s voice?

It did not take long before Mateo finally saw him.

Lucas was wearing armor and accompanied by two youths with dark skin—one bald and the other with curly hair.

Apparently, the moment class ended, Lucas had immediately entered the Magic World as well.

But for some reason, he seemed extremely furious.

"You, go bring reinforcements here!" Lucas ordered the bald youth.

"Yes..." The bald youth quickly ran off.

"Boss, inside that cave... is that really the Star Wheel?" the curly-haired youth asked.

"Just shut up!" Lucas snapped irritably.

’Star Wheel?’

Mateo had no idea what that was.

He immediately checked the forum through the System and searched for the Star Wheel.

An image quickly appeared—a glowing wheel shaped like a star.

The information was brief.

It was an artifact capable of teleportation within a certain range depending on how much energy was infused into it.

In short, it was an incredibly valuable item despite never appearing in any transaction.

It was simply too rare, and no one who obtained one was willing to sell it.

When wealthy people acquired treasures, they kept them for themselves.

Up until now, rich people had only been spending money on Magic World, never earning money from it.

Naturally, Mateo immediately became interested in the Star Wheel.

’System, convert my System Points into Heaven Path Soul Energy,’ he commanded inwardly.

[System Points: 0]

[Soul:]

Heaven Path Soul > 7.5 (SSS Class Soul)

DING!

(The nearest Star Wheel has been transferred to your Inventory at the cost of 7 Points of Heaven Path Soul Energy!)

[Soul:]

Heaven Path Soul > 0.5 (SSS Class Soul)

[Inventory:]

(Class A Weapons ×2)

(Spiritual Neon)

(Tier 1 Mastery Orb)

(Forest Chameleon Skin)

(Star Wheel)

Mateo, "..."

Even though something like this had happened before, he was still utterly shocked.

Without overcoming any obstacle, the item had simply appeared inside his Inventory.

"You damned little brats, was it you who stole my Star Wheel?!"

A furious roar suddenly echoed across the area, creating a terrifying shockwave.

As a result, the dry grass concealing Mateo was blown away, instantly exposing him in front of Lucas.

"You?" Lucas stared in shock, not expecting to see Mateo there.

But he was even more shocked by the furious voice that had just spoken.

What was happening?

He wondered the same thing Mateo did.

Mateo knew exactly what had happened, but who was shouting?

A monster?

How could a monster speak the human language?

Whoosh!

The towering grass around them suddenly split apart, revealing a gigantic lion standing seven meters tall.

It resembled a mining truck in size, and faint waves of roaring sound continuously escaped its mouth, painfully shaking their ears.

Naturally, it looked nothing like an ordinary lion.

Its fur, claws, and fangs were golden in color.

Even its mane resembled countless strands of golden threads woven together.

And atop its head rested a golden crown decorated with gems of various colors.

The pressure it emitted alone was enough to leave Mateo gasping for breath.

In fact, the ground itself trembled violently, as though unable to withstand its sheer weight.

DING!

(Level 20 Monster King!)

(Warning: A Monster King is a True S-Class Monster with all of its abilities belonging to the S-Class. It is extremely dangerous to face alone unless your level is equal to it!)

There had been no warning like this when he encountered Boss Monsters before.

Now it became clear that bosses were not the strongest monsters.

They were merely above ordinary monsters.

But what was truly terrifying... was a Monster King.

"Your Majesty, what do you mean by this?" Lucas asked.

"What do I mean?" the lion roared furiously.

"My Star Wheel suddenly disappeared. What trick did you use, brat?!"

The moment it finished speaking, it swung a claw toward Lucas.

Lucas suddenly pulled out a shield that instantly expanded to an enormous size.

Clang!

The shield blocked the lion’s claw.

"This again? Let’s see how many times you can withstand it!" the lion roared before attacking again.

"Run!" Lucas shouted.

Remarkably, the shield seemed to move on its own, protecting him as he began fleeing. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓

Mateo watched everything unfold before him.

Fortunately, the lion paid no attention to him at all.

But he knew he needed to leave immediately.

If the Lion King turned back in anger later, he would become its next target.
