Chapter 2: Chapter 2: Forbidden Spell: Meteor Blast

When the words "Meteor Blast" slipped from Arthur’s lips, the whole plaza fell into a brief, dead silence.

A gentle breeze swept over the raised platform, making the stray hairs on Arthur’s forehead flicker, while his expression stayed that maddening mix of lazy and calm.

The very next second, a tsunami of laughter erupted violently among the ranks of the new students.

"Meteor Blast?? What the heck is that name?? Does he think he’s a god??"

"Hahaha, a Double-F Failure who can’t even sense mana actually names his fake spell with such an exaggerated title??"

"Even Jack’s basic Light Spell didn’t dare use the word ’Blast’!!"

"I bet he’s just gone crazy from his useless talents and is acting out for attention."

The mocking laughter from the crowd grew louder and louder, almost threatening to completely swallow Arthur on the platform.

Lilian August clenched her tiny fists tight, her pale apple face turning red.

"Stop laughing!! Arthur isn’t acting out for attention!!"

The little princess of the Kingdom of Oran tried to use her voice to silence the crowd, but her clear tone sounded so tiny compared to the thousands of mocking laughs.

Lilian could only tilt her head back, staring fiercely at the tall figure on the platform, her green eyes full of stubbornness and hope.

Up on the platform, the professors sitting in their luxurious chairs were whispering among themselves.

The portly Dean Beck sneered disdainfully, his eyes full of mockery.

"Headmaster Alberto, a student with absolutely no talent who just spouts nonsense is insulting the glory of Lancelot Royal Academy."

Dean Beck shook his head cruelly, already ready to kick Arthur out of the school the moment he failed.

"Not even the most basic magic elements can respond to a wastrel with F-rank Mental Power."

"He can’t even build the simplest Magic Node, let alone create a spell from scratch."

Other Archmagus who held high-ranking mage titles also nodded, staring at Arthur with looks of amusement, ready for a show.

Only Alberto, the Grand Archmagus sitting in the center, said nothing. This old man narrowed his eyes slightly, fixing his aged gaze on Arthur’s right hand, which was pressed against the Awakening Stone.

For some reason, a sudden, unexplained shiver raced through the heart of this veteran who had weathered so many storms.

At this moment, Arthur had completely blocked out all the noise from the outside world.

His eyes were tightly shut, his consciousness fully immersed in the depths of his vast ocean-like mind.

So what if his talent was Double-F?

In this backward magic world, people relied too much on that so-called "Affinity," but they had no idea what true "Rules" actually were.

In a pure D&D magic system, as long as the caster can build a flawless spell structure in their mind, even a god has to bow down!!

Deep within Arthur’s mind, a massive, soul-shivering 3D Magic Formation was spinning out of control.

It was the absolute peak of Evocation Magic. It was the ultimate power capable of destroying cities and flattening mountains.

A 9th-Level Spell.

No extra chanting. No silly wave of a wand.

Arthur just needed pure logic to take the runes representing extreme heat and terrifying kinetic energy, one by one, and embed them deep into the Awakened Stone’s laws.

He was going to summon meteorites from the stars.

Not just one. But a full four sky-darkening celestial meteorites!!

Each meteorite carried the ultimate fire damage that could instantly vaporize steel, plus a terrifying shockwave strong enough to smash a dragon into ground meat.

Spell Coverage: A 500-meter radius!!

In this zone, all beings are equal. All turn to ash.

"Take shape."

Arthur whispered these words coldly in his heart, slamming the last rune of "Destruction" written in D&D’s Ancient God Tongue into the core of the Awakening Stone.

Wuuuut...!!!

The blue Awakening Stone, which had been as quiet as a normal rock, suddenly let out a very sharp, high-pitched hum.

The sound wasn’t loud, but it felt like an invisible blade that sliced through everyone’s eardrums in a single strike.

The mocking laughter of the thousands of new students in the plaza stopped dead.

Everyone covered their ears in pain, looking at the platform in terror.

That one-meter-high, deep blue Awakening Stone was changing color at a speed visible to the naked eye.

The blue faded away, replaced by a bone-chilling dark red.

It was like magma from the depths of hell was boiling violently inside the stone.

Then, a terrifying suction force that words could not describe exploded from Arthur as the center!!

Rumble rumble rumble...!!

All the wandering magic within a ten-li radius—wind, fire, water, and earth—went into a total frenzy at this moment.

It was as if they heard the call of a supreme ruler. They rushed toward the Awakening Stone on the platform like a wild flood.

The wind rose from the ground, blowing the students below into chaos, with everyone stumbling and screaming.

"What is happening?! My mana... my mana inside my body is draining out of control!!"

"Oh my god!! Look up!!"

Someone let out a pitched, panicked scream, and everyone instinctively looked up at the sky above the academy.

The previously clear blue sky had now turned a deep crimson, like fresh blood.

Thick, fire-like clouds rolled in the sky like boiling magma, staining the sky over the entire capital in a scene of the apocalypse.

A shiver from the deepest part of their souls gripped everyone’s hearts at once.

On the platform, Dean Beck suddenly stood up. His fat face was now as white as paper, and his whole body of flesh shook wildly.

"This... this is impossible!! The Awakening Stone... the Awakening Stone is going to explode!!"

Dean Beck screamed in despair. Even as a high-level mage, his legs turned to jelly under this pressure, and he fell straight to the ground.

Crack!!

The valuable bone china teacup in Alberto’s hand turned to powder in a single instant.

The strongest Grand Archmagus, with his eyes wide open, stared fixedly at the Awakening Stone, now burning red hot.

He could clearly feel that a spell model was forming inside that stone—a model so powerful it made him feel hopeless.

"Magic Projection... The Awakening Stone is starting Magic Projection!!"

Alberto let out a roar, slammed his armrest hard, and burst forth with his massive Grand Archmagus mana. It formed a huge, translucent shield that locked tightly over the thousands of new students below.

The very next second, a blinding pillar of blood-red light shot violently out of the Awakening Stone, piercing straight up into the sky.

The sign that a Self-Created Magic has succeeded... the Law Projection had arrived.

At the end of that pillar, a terrifying illusion appeared in the sky—impossibly clear and impossibly real.

Everyone tilted their heads, mouths wide open, holding their breath until they stopped completely.

They saw the end of the world.

In the illusion, a vast land was covered in shadow.

The sky ripped open suddenly. Four massive meteorites, each as big as a mountain, dragged long black trails. They carried kinetic energy that could destroy everything and fell crashing down from the heavens!!

The extreme heat from the meteorites rubbing against the air even made the space around the illusion warp.

Boom...!!!

The four meteorites slammed hard into the ground of the illusion.

There was no so-called "little fireball," and no so-called "spark."

This was absolute physical crushing and the ultimate magical explosion!!

A mushroom cloud that blocked out the sky rose up in the illusion. The terrifying shockwave flattened every hill, forest, and river within a 500-meter radius in an instant!!

The ground cracked open. Magma gushed out. Extreme heat turned everything into vapor and then into nothingness.

Even though this was just an illusion simulated by the Awakening Stone, the wave of despair and the breath of destruction were so strong that everyone there felt like they had fallen into an ice cave.

Thud.

Thud.

On the plaza, massive numbers of new students found their legs turning to jelly and collapsed straight to the ground, kneeling.

Their teeth chattered, their eyes were empty, and cold sweat instantly soaked their robes.

Even Lilian, the little princess who had been jumping around just a moment ago, now stood there with her mouth agape, staring blankly at the doomsday scene in the sky like a wooden puppet.

"This... is this power that a human mind can imagine??"

Lilian’s brain went completely blank. All that was left in her mind was the long, thin black-haired boy standing on the platform.

Up on the platform, Arthur slowly opened his eyes. A flash of satisfaction sparkled deep within his dark black pupils.

He was actually quite satisfied with this projection effect. Even though it couldn’t fully show the absolute power of the D&D Meteor Blast, it was more than enough to scare these country bumpkins.

Click, click, click...

Just then, the top-tier Awakening Stone—famed for its ability to withstand any magical impact—suddenly began to crack, the surface riddled with a dense network of fissures.

It simply couldn’t handle the law energy belonging to this 9th-Level Forbidden Spell.

Bang!!

With a dull, deafening crash, the priceless Awakening Stone exploded into countless particles flying all over the sky!
