Chapter 76: Chapter 76 Talks

The Third Person’s POV

Adriana couldn’t believe it. The life she had run away from, many, many years ago, had caught up with her. She knew it would only be a matter of time, but as time went on, she had hoped it never would.

Now she was sitting here, in this fine office belonging to the sister of Jax’s charge. She tried to take some deep breaths, but her anxiety of Jeremy rejecting after she told them everything was blocking her from it. She kept going over everything in her mind. How much should she tell them? Was she going to die? Was she going to be all alone yet again? The question swirled in her mind, making her dizzy.

Her parents, cast out from her mother’s old coven for a crime against both her and his kind, had done what they had to do to survive. They had loved each other, and her, very much. Their crime? She was a witch, and he was a vampire. It was very much forbidden, and they had sought the protection of the demon king. Her mother had been pregnant with her, and they had seen no other option. Vampires balancing between light and dark, he had been able to cross over to the underworld to seek refuge for him and his beloved.

There, her father had pleaded with the king for mercy upon him and his love. The king had agreed, but when her mother had given birth to her, he had killed her father. Taking her mother as his favorite mistress, making sure they brought her daughter up safely.

Her mother had hated him with a passion, but always instilled love and happiness in her daughter. Adriana remembered her mother telling her; "this life has been cruel in ways I can’t even describe, but always remember to look on the bright side of things, my darling. You never know what hand you will be dealt in life, but always try to make the best of it." She had remembered and carried her mother’s words in her heart. She kept telling her stories every night about her father, keeping his picture in her room, even though the king had forbid it.

She had been killed when Adriana was sixteen, and she had been all alone. The king had made it obvious he wanted her as his mistress as well, but she tried to avoid him as much as she could. She had made friends with Narine, and couldn’t see why everyone else hated her so much.

It was only after she escaped the underworld; she had seen her former friend for what she was. A manipulative bitch. Only doing something for her own gain, and never once caring about others than herself. fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com

Jeremy held her close. The sparks intensified, and Adriana took a deep breath. She looked up at Jasmin, expecting her to look at her with hatred and disdain, like she was used to. Adriana knew now what had happened, really happened. She had made Jasmin’s mate reject her. But she didn’t quite understand how? She had felt the sparks too and had been convinced he was her mate and Jasmin was trying to ruin their relationship. Narine had supported her, telling him many nasty things about Jasmin. She had been so wrong.

Jasmin sat there, rigid and contemplative. She had thought that her mate rejecting her had been a scheme of both Narine and Adriana. She and Narine had never seen eye to eye, and they never would. Narine was and would always be jealous of Jasmin. Even more so when Jasmin and Jasper helped ruin her plan to snatch Jax as her own. freeweɓnovel.cѳm

They had grown up together, Adriana as well. She had always been there, but made no fuss or noise. So speaking. She had been a quiet bookworm, who enjoyed the quiet of the library instead of being on the playground with the others.

Or that was at least what Jasmin had thought. Adriana and Narine had been close almost from the start, and now Jasmin was wondering if Narine just saw an easy target in Adriana? She wasn’t a demon, and the king had made it clear none was to bother her, even though she was an outsider. It had also been common knowledge that the king had killed Adriana’s father, just so he could take her mother as his mistress. Another mistress. But she was, as Jasmin and her brother’s mother, also a favorite. Therefore, her child was protected.

Jonathan had meant to sit beside her on the couch, but Jax and Jasper had sat there before he could do it. The scowl on his face was priceless. ’Serves you right’, Jasmin thought to herself. Sundancer whined in her head. She wanted her mate. She was so afraid of being rejected again, she was ready to forgive about everything. But Jasmin couldn’t care less. He had protected a potential enemy of his mate over her. He had questioned her about her motives, and he had yet to apologize for any of it.

She sighed. Her hands found her brothers, and a low growl emitted from her so-called mate. Jasmin ignored him, waited as penitently as she could for the girl opposite her to answer her question. She had tried to be nice and polite while asking, but she knew it would take time for them to get used to each other. She was not part of Ellie’s pack. Abby’s pack. So she had to give this a try. IF and only if it actually was all Narine and she had nothing to do with it.

Adriana looks up, fright in her eyes. Jasmins keeps a calm and friendly look on her face, really wanting the girl to know she, as of right now, does not hold any hatred or grudges against her.

"I. I think it will be easier to show you?" Adriana whispers, shoulders up in a protective stance and head ducked down immediately after her whisper.

"Are you allowed to do that? That’s pretty powerful magic." Jasper asks, kindly. He is also trying to reach out. He can feel the change in Jasmin. And he knows they need an answer. Answers only Adriana can really give.

Adriana shrugs and looks around the room. She wants to ask Morgan, but she is not here. She takes another deep breath.

"It’s actually up to Mother Morgan, but I would think so because it resolves around my own memories." She answers quietly.

"I have mind-linked the question to Morgan, and she says go for it! And she asks if you’ll need help?" Ellies says from the chair at the office desk. Adriana gives her a small smile.

"No thank you, Luna. I only need a drop of blood from Jasmin, Jasper, and Jax. They were all there when the events accrued, and their blood will help me with strength as well."

She snaps her fingers and three small glass vials appeared out of the blue. The siblings exchange looks. Blood magic was forbidden many years ago, but they knew there were some loopholes in that ban.

"Blood magic?" Jasmin asks her voice unsure what to think.
