We’re herding a group of elderly people and children to the nearest safe room when a penetrating howl sounds over the pack. Ruby reacts by taking control without asking and shifting, then she howls back to the sky and the ground disappears beneath me. I can hear my mates scream my name, but we are going somewhere they can’t follow.
When we land we’re in a dark realm, and definitely not at the pack anymore. Wolves and other foxes emerge around us, and Ruby whines in satisfaction.
’The Queen finally learned she is more than meets the eye. As are we. Wait and see.’ She says, growling in approval. We follow the group to where Winter and five other wolves are standing.
Ruby and the other growl and whine in furious distaste at the enemy in front of us, but the dark woman commands her dark army to attack us. They hesitate a second, but eventually do as she says. Everyone works together, and soon the enemy retracts.
"It doesn’t matter. You are going to lose anyway. The war has begun." The dark lady, Keres perhaps, sneers at us, a manic gleam in her eyes. "And I am not letting you leave." She cackles, but it’s short lived as silver, orange, red and purple lights emit together before four women walk out of the lights. Ruby and I are greatly enjoying this show to be honest. This is the most that’s happened in our lives, ever.
"That cannot be. You’re dead." She says, her voice shaky and the orange woman shakes her head.
"No, but I was damn near close to you foolish brat!" She says with her arms crossed. "Let them go back, Keres. Now." She demands, but Keres shakes her head.
"No can do, sis. Sorry." The orange Goddess shakes her head, joins hands with the other Goddesses and chants something in a language I don’t know.
The ground disappears under our feet again and we whirl back and forth for a second. We land in the middle of the pack ground where the pack is fighting for their lives, but with no ranked members, except the older generation, to guide and lead them, they are not organized and losing fast. freewёbn૦νeɭ.com
As we land back in the pack everyone, including Ruby kneels in front of the Queen. She is getting looked over by her mate. I mentally smile. They are everything I ever dreamed of in a mate, and everything I’m afraid of giving the guys.
’Alright, please raise all of you. That won’t be necessary. Thank you for coming when I called.’ Kiara mind links us, making Ruby stand. We look around and there are six other foxes besides us. I wonder who they are? I don’t get to ask that question before three huge identical black wolves run up to us and start sniffing Ruby up and down to make sure she is in one piece.
’We’re fine, guys.’ I mind link them.
’Fuck you scared us, darling.’ Elijah says, not even apologising for the nickname. I mentally shake my head at his antics.
’It is our duty as the protectors of the Royal fox family to abide by our Queen when she calls us. I had no idea we would meet both the lost Queen and Princess today. We are very lucky and humble to be in your presence, your graces.’ A dark red fox says, sounding distinctively male. Ruby perks up at that. Lost? Princess. What the hell.
’Thank you. But I have never been lost.’ Kiara answers back, as Havoc nudges her with his snout.
’Uhm, neither have I.’ I say, my mates surrounding me now. ’Unwanted, yes. Lost, no.’ Elijah’s wolf nudges me with a small whine. Ruby ignores him.
’You have been lost, my Princess, my Queen. We always know when and where the new Royals are born and then able to get familiar with them and protect them, but someone has been hiding your presence from us until now. We are sorry we didn’t come forth before. We felt it when you were crowned, but we were told to wait.’ I want to ask by who, but I know now is not the time. We need to help the pack with their fight, and we need to show them and each other we can work together.
Kiara asks for me, the triplets and two fox guards to join with the Beta and Delta to sweet the south border and meet them in the middle when we have cleared that area of the pack for immediate enemies. We run off to do as they ask, and I know we’ll have to talk about this later. Today has changed a lot of things. Most of all; I’m a Princess and not even Alpha Jack can refute that fact when we come back home.
