Chapter 349: Chapter 349 A Hope, Not A Promise
Allison
Maze is rushed to the hospital while we shift back and get dressed, well, the guys get dressed and I look on in silence. The elder generation look worried, as they follow the King and Queen to the hospital.
"What happened?" I ask one of the Beta’s, nodding to my mates as they come out from the tree they hid behind. The Beta, Kristian, sighs.
"Maze trusted the wrong person it seems." He says, brows knit together in a frown. He orders warriors to search the borders for renegade enemies, and Ethan offers to help coordinate. Elijah declares he is staying with me, while Ezra keeps his eyes out for something I don’t know what is.
The thing we came for seems to have changed. Elijah also seems to be of the same mind, because he nods to me and gestures for me to follow him.
"We are going to the pack house for now. We need to be out of the way enough to let them work, but on hand enough to be useful."
"I’m not going to train anyone, am I?" I ask, and he shakes his head with a sad smile.
"I don’t think so." He looks at me and something in his eyes has changed since we came this morning. He reaches his hand out, an invitation. I can take it, I can also not.
"Do you think it’s safe?" I ask, looking at his hand. He shrugs.
"I think nothing is safe. Tomorrow is a hope, not a promise. I don’t want to waste more time with ridiculous objectives. I accepted you the night we met, and I accept you now and forever." I can’t help but smile. I take his hand, letting the sparks of the mate bond travel my hand and up my arm.
We walk to the pack house, greeting the various Alpha’s, Luna’s and ranked members of Silver Mist as we walk. They all look at our joined hands, but Elijah refuses to let me go, and I have to admit I kind of like it. Daniel greets us in the door, smiling when he sees our hands, and nodding like a proud man.
"I saw everything on the drones. You guys kicked ass." He says, grinning at me. "Ruby especially was badass. How are you feeling?" I shrug.
"Fine. It was important to protect the Luna." I explain as someone behind us clears their throat.
"Speaking of protecting my mate," he says as we turn around. He bows his head to me, but his eyes stay on Elijah. "You have one fine mate there, Alpha Elijah. I do hope you and your brothers know what kind of gift the Goddesses gave you with her." Elijah nods seriously.
"We are getting there, Alpha..."
"George. Alpha George, and this is my mate Luna Hannah." The Luna bows her head at us, her eyes shining brightly. "We’re very thankful for Luna Allison’s bravery, and we wanted to say thank you."
"Oh I’m not..." fгeewebnovёl.com
"Yeah, my mate is a badass for sure, Alpha George. But your mate is not so bad either. She held her own quite well out there. Was that your first shift, Luna?"
"It was. I... I don’t know what happened, but all of a sudden Bella just bursted through and shifted to protect Luna Allison and her fox, who had so bravely and selflessly done it for us. She says she’s come to stay." Luna Hannah blushes. The thank us again and move on, and I turn on Elijah to ask him what the heck that was when something shakes the entire pack grounds. fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com
"What was that?" I ask with wide eyes and Elijah immediately moves me inside, placing me in a chair and mindlinking someone. We lost our comms when we shifted. Ethan and Ezra come running after a couple of minutes.
"The Queen is gone. Maze is critical and the pack is on lockdown. I have to take over the wardroom." Ethan says, not looking at me. Ezra mumbles something about weird things happening, and he’ll stay with me.
"How did the Queen disappear?" I ask, looking between them, but it’s someone else who answers.
"Keres, the Goddess of Darkness kidnapped her. Prepare yourself, war is coming." We look over and Matthew is walking towards us with brisk strides. "Ethan, I need you in the wardroom for now, shift and join when you have coordinated. We are not as advanced as you are in your pack, but it’ll do. Ezra, Elijah and Allison, we need you on the ground." He stops, alarms start blaring over the pack. "They’re here, it’s too late. Outside everyone, get innocents to the saferooms. Go."
We run outside to say warriors shift into wolves, and guide regular pack members to saferooms. The triplets demand I stay with them, and we do not shift yet. They launch into command mode, guiding pack members, pointing out weak spots for warrior wolves and looking out for immediate danger.
