I sit down in wolf form, not wanting to shift back because I want to be able to jump up and protect my mate at all times. These two fuckers are dangerous, and more so when they are backed into a corner like they are now. My aunt showed us her shadow side, and I must admit both Havoc and I were scared shitless. I knew she was powerful and I had heard the tale of her ’dark side’, but I had never seen it before.
As I contemplate the mystical nature of my aunt, I hear a buzzing sound in the outskirts of my mind’s range. Something is coming. I quickly mind link Kiara to be alert, but she also hears it, so I keep sitting where I am and observe her conversation with Narine and Magoth. They are still two smug fuckers, thinking Keres is coming to their aid anytime now.
"... my mother comes back, Kiara. She will not accept this! I am the Queen. Queen of the Underworld and Queen of everything!" Narine almost screeches. Fuck her voice is annoying. Even Magoth looks like he is in pain from her voice.
"If you are going to kill us anyway, why not just get it over with? Preferably before this one causes me to lose my hearing altogether." Magoth grunts, and Narine scowls at him. Havoc snorts in amusement, while Kiara just crosses her arms.
"We are waiting for someone who wants to have a part in your deaths as well." She says, looking to the sky. The buzzing is louder, and now I can hear its wings in the air. Something is flying towards us in the dark of night. Kiara sends me a brilliant smile, her eyes alight with mischief and amusement. What did she do I wonder?
As we wait for Kiara’s guests to arrive, mom goes behind a tree to shift back into herself and comes out in another large t-shirt. I, uncle Jax and the warriors keep to our furry forms for protection and swift action should something happen. Narine keeps threatening with her mom and the severe consequences she’ll reap for us all when she arrives, but as time passes by, they seem more and more desperate.
Then out of the darkness something moves, but I know who they are. Over the last 10 minutes or so, reports of sightings have flown to me in mind links from all over the battlefield. My dad was one of those who quickly told me who was coming. I smile to myself. Of course she would not want to be left out of this. I should have known from the get go.
"Ah!" Kiara says, rising from her sitting position. She has been meditating and ignoring Narine and Magoth for some time now, much to both their chagrin. I send her an overflow of love through the bond.
’Thank you for not leaving her out of this, baby!’ I tell her, my wolf practically vibrating with the love I have for this incredible woman.
’I wouldn’t dream of it! You have had more qualms with these two than I have, and as has she! She deserves to be part of their punishment. She wants Magoth for the part he played in bringing the bitch Mira back to life.’ Kiara responds, placing her hand in my fur and smiling at my sister as she saunters to us followed by one of her mates.
"Amber! I’m so happy you were able to join us tonight!" Kiara says, bringing my sister into a light hug. Amber’s eyes drift to the two prisoners on the ground.
"I wouldn’t miss it for the world, little sis." She says, kissing Kiara’s cheek. "Thank you for thinking of me!" Her voice is deep with emotion, and I suddenly get a burst of deep unfiltered rage and hatred through the bond I share with my twin. Havoc whines quietly, rubbing his head on her arm. She turns her head slowly, her eyes softening when she looks at us.
"He deserves to rot in one of our prison cells, tortured everyday, for what he put the two of you through." She whispers. "But I know you wouldn’t want that, so I am just going to kill him." She leans her head to Havoc’s, a stray tear sliding down her cheek. "You didn’t deserve what he did to you, brother! I am going to punish him, and I am going to enjoy it. I love you Maze." She says, and I feel the love slowly replace the murderous feeling she was exuding before. Her mate pulls her into his arms, and she leans on him for a moment. "Chase is out doing a lot of damage to their army. He is having the time of his life!" She says with a slight snicker, her mate snorts in amusement, his eyes twinkling in mischief.
