Everything is chaos as our allies attack from the sides, closing the enemy in between them and us. We kill left and right without shifting, breaking necks and making sure to push the enemy into the shifted allies all around us. Maze keeps me by his side, not letting me stray too far away from him. We need to get to Magoth and Narine, but for the moment they have disappeared.
’Does anyone have sight of the leaders?’ I mindlink everyone, but no one has seen them since we surprised them back with our own trap. I curse under my breath as I dodge a rogue jumping at me. Maze pushes me behind him, shifts into Havoc and attacks the rogue who dares go after his mate. I shake my head, catching my breath for a second. I’m trying to get an overview of where people are, and where Magoth and Narine could have run off to. They are not getting away this time. Someone runs up to me, and I whirl around ready to fight, but it is Willow and a beautiful wolf. The wolf bowed to me, her eyes shining with purple and silver.
"You never have to bow to me, Galaxy. You will always be a Queen. We are equal." I tell the wolf with a bow of my own head.
Havoc is still fighting, or should I say toying, with the rogue from before, and I resist the urge to roll my eyes, while helping Galaxy and Willow clear a circle around us. Willow mindlinks me that we have to find Magoth and Narine, and I have to agree with her. If we don’t do something soon, they will have gotten a great headstart and be difficult to track down.
’Let’s go hunting.’ I mindlink the women, and both of them nod their heads. Willow gets on Galaxy’s back, while I shift into Winter. Out of nowhere a sleek black panther jumps, ripping the head of the rogue Havoc was having fun with. Havoc whines slightly, but the panther only growls. I guess Jax thought his nephew needed a reminder of the severity of the situation because a moment later Havoc growls back, and stands tall.
’Baby, I will stay here and coordinate with the others. You stay close to my mother and do not get killed.’ Maze mindlinks me. Winter turns her fox head to look at her mate. free𝑤ebnovel.com
’I can take care of myself, my love. Please don’t get killed either or we’re going to have a major issue.’ He chuckles in response, joining the others in the fight that still rages all around the circle we cleared.
Galaxy looks at Winter with eyes shining with expectation. I guess she wants me to go first. As I take the first step, four foxes appear from the fight. They are all roughed up, but no one has been injured. They bow to me, showing their intent to go with me on the hunt. With them comes two wolves I recognize as Kristian and one of the triplets.
’Stay with your Alpha, and don’t let him die.’ I order the Beta and Gamma wolf, but they shake their heads.
’Alpha told us to go with you, Luna. So we are at your disposal. Leon, Joram and Jon will make sure he is not killed anytime soon.’ Kristian links back, and I look at the other wolf. So it is Jasper who is coming with us. I wonder if it’s the poetic justice of his name that got him landed with me?
’Stay close." I tell them, without complaining or arguing. Maze is right. We need the numbers, and I am actually honored they are willing to come with us.
’Willow, where are they?’ I ask the Queen of the underworld. The gleam of menace in her eyes as she answers me, makes my heart rate quicken. This is real. We are going to hunt them down as prey and make an end to this! ’Lead the way with Galaxy. We are under your command.’ I tell Willow, including everyone else in the link. They all await for a second before Willow and Galaxy move out.
The way out was long and tedious. We had to fight with rogues and demons, but mostly it was our guards that fought, and us waiting. Jax’s panther keeps appearing and disappearing from view. He is fast, lethal and merciless. I am in awe of him when we are finally on grounds where enemy pawns are not in sight.
Galaxy sets a fast pace, not too quick and not too slow. She wants us to get them quickly, but doesn’t want us to be exhausted from the hunt when we get to them. The forest is silent. Eerie silent, and only the sound of our paws and breath can be heard in the black night. I wonder when it became dark? I hadn’t even noticed before now that we had gone into night, and my senses became even more alert than before.
’They are close, but something is coming at us. Something dark and... DUCK!’ Willow screams the words in our mind, and everyone throws themselves to the ground. A ball of pure darkness whirls over us a split second later. Winter growls, her fur standing on end. She crawls, belly to the ground still, to the front where Galaxy is laying over Willow, who jumped from her back just in time.
Galaxy looks back curiously just as another dark ball whirls over us. We can’t move forward as long as they are coming at us. We don’t know what they contain, and we will not take the chance of risking our allies lives. When Winter is beside Galaxy, she starts to hum. The melody is not familiar to me, but Galaxy soon chimes in. It goes up and down in tones, weaves in and out of rhythm and flows through the air with ease. Someone shrieks from the darkness of the night, and no more balls come flying. They keep humming as they stand up, and Willow quickly sits up on Jax’s panther this time. They lead the way, with Winter and Galaxy just behind them, humming and clearing the way somehow. I am in awe of my fox at the moment, which makes her chuckle internally with pride.
Further ahead we encounter Narine, but she is alone. She is laying on the ground panting. Her good eye gleaming with hatred when she sees us. She crosses her arms. freewebnovel.cσ๓
"So you found me, big whoop. What ya gonna do? Kill me? I would like to see you try." Willow jumps down from her mate and advances quietly. She looks at Narine, but she doesn’t say or do anything. Her eyes glow, her whole demeanor changes and the air around her goes extremely cold. Winter takes an automatic step back when Willow does her thing, and I wonder what exactly she is doing.
"Magoth is hiding just ahead." Willow says in a husky dark voice. She points to a cave we hadn’t seen before. Galaxy nods, looks at the guards and takes Kristiana and Jasper with her. A moment later she reappears with Magoth screaming profanities at her. He has a knife at his back, and Lillith walks slowly behind him. Where the hell did she come from? I’m so confused, but it doesn’t matter. We got them. I quickly go behind a tree and shift back into myself, finding the bag of clothes we have hidden here and put on another big t-shirt.
"To answer your question, Narine. Yes you are going to die." I say when I come out again, and she just rolls her eye.
"My mother would never allow that to happen." She says, silently daring me to argue with her. I just shake my head in exasperation.
"She might not, but she might have to." I answer vaguely, harnessing all of the attention of those with me.
