"I understand, although I think it’s kind of cheating, I get where you are coming from. It’s the one power I will never get total control of. I can’t help it more than I can help breathing." She looks at me from under her lashes. "But I do get annoyed, because it gives one such good advantage." I laugh, shaking my head at her. Willow is a ball of energy, smiles and sassy comments. She keeps her mate on his toes, which is probably why he chooses this moment to burst through my door.
"Kiara have you seen..." His eyes narrow as he sees his mate, ignoring the Goddess in the room. "Fuck, Willow, leave a note or mindlink me. I thought something happened to you." She shrugs.
"You’re being rude, lover." She says with a big smile, as Jax lifts her from the chair and places her in his lap as he sits down.
"Goddess Inari, I apologize for my tardiness, but my mate takes priority." Inari is hiding a smile with her hand.
"All is well, Maximilian. And forgiven." She says, her eyes shining with suppressed laughter for the first time ever. I have never seen her so happy, or.. What the hell. Willow catches my eyes.
"Jax’s mother and Inari were best friends. She is his godmother, or goddessmother if you will." I just raise an eyebrow. This day is proving to be filled with surprises.
"Can I do anything else for you, Inari?" I ask the Goddess who is staring at Jax with a mix of pride and sadness.
"I wanted to tell you that some of the foxes are here. They are hiding in the forest, not sure whether or not to come closer to a wolf pack. I am going to them now and leading them myself. Will you and your mate meet us out at the west border?" I nod, wondering why our guards have not noticed them in the forest? "I am proud of all of you!" She says quietly, but her eyes are on Jax and Willow. Then she’s gone and I sigh. Well, this day just keeps giving.
"You want us to come too?" Willow asks, but I shake my head, before changing my mind.
"You and Amber I think, but not the guys. Not yet." Jax protests, but Willow shuts him up and tells him to get Amber to meet us at the front door. Jax, who is not going to argue with his stubborn mate, surrenders with a huff and leaves the room. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm

’No, I’m on the training grounds. What’s up, my Queen?’ I love it when he calls me that!
’Inari was just here. Some of the foxes are coming and she wants us to meet her at the west border. I asked Willow and Amber to come with us, but I feel the guys will be too much.’
’I agree. I’m on my way, and I’ll bring Leon and Joram as they are one of our Betas and Gammas’
’Alright, we’ll be there in a moment.’ We’re out the door and meet the others by the border a couple of minutes after. Maze informs the guards about our guests and that they are not a threat. I notice one of the guards on duty is Callan and he seems so at ease and relaxed. He bows to me and Maze, a smile on his lips as he mouths ’thank you’ to me. It makes my heart swell!
Another couple of minutes goes by before rustling tells us there are people walking in there. Inari is the first to reach the border, a crowd of 10 or so people standing behind her. Something tingles down my spine, and makes me look to the side. Callan’s eyes are glowing as his wolf has taken over. Jump in front of him before he storms over the border.
"Stand down, Callan, that’s an order!" I tell him calmly. He is fighting with his wolf, and I release more of my aura, making his wolf submit to me so Callan can gain control back.
"I am so sorry, my Queen." He says, bowing slightly, but his focus is on the crowd behind Inari. A gorgeous young woman with auburn hair and warm hazel eyes looks at Callan with wide eyes. She blushes to her roots. Two men beside her clear their throat, one of them is staring daggers at Callan.
"Tell that... Dog... To keep his eyes off my fiencé." He says with a sneer. I instantly don’t like him.
"Have you marked and mated the young woman?" I ask him with my arms crossed, anger vibrating through my body. The man shakes his head.
"No, she is not my wife, yet. That old fool wanted to come here before.."
"Because he wanted to see if she maybe had a mate before giving her to an unpleasant persona as yourself, I see." I answer, smiling at the young woman.
"What’s your name, sweetheart?" I ask her, but she just looks down, mumbling something. The young unpleasant man grabs her face hard and smacks her. Inara whirls around, but she is not fast enough. In a flash the man is against a tree, Callan holding him by the throat. The woman gasps, as does the rest of her group. I raise an eyebrow, looking at Maze, who is trying to hide his smirk.
