Chapter 264: Chapter 264 Changes All Around
Kiara
We have been hosting Lillith for three days, making sure she is hidden in the pack house. She left this morning, and went back to the enemy. I have to admit I admire her a great deal! She was the mate to Jax’s brother who was killed when they dethroned his deranged father. They apparently got wind of him wanting to place Narine on the throne in the underworld, and gathered all of their allies and fought for it. Their father killed Jasper out of spite, trying to kill Jax and Jasmin as well.
The story was horrifying, but I understand why they did what they did. And it was very important because it made the underworld safe again. It had not been a safe place when old King Laurus had been on the throne. He was insane and evil. I also learned in the last couple of days that not all of the demons are evil or in cohorts of Keres, the dark Goddess.
It made me think of our Gamma’s. How hard it must be for Jax to have one of our Gamma’s be named Jasper, but he shook his head when I asked him.
"He is one of Jasmin’s sons and she named him after our brother before the great war. Afterwards it was a healing thing knowing he would live on in our little one - her son and my nephew. I am proud as hell of that kid. He is living up to that name in ways I never thought he could or should." I then realized I actually didn’t know much about who the children were, and how they were connected, which was a new project.
Abby and Matthew gladly said yes to help me create a family tree for the pack. We spent a lot of evenings over the next few days gathering names and information. They reminisce about memories, and as soon as the other’s heard of my project they wanted to help. It developed into a family project, which was nice! It makes me look forward to the evenings for another reason than just mate time with Maze, which is great, but this has some other value!
"Kiara?!" Someone knocks on my office door. I have been in here a lot lately, trying to make sense of the Luna duties and plan ahead with all of the holidays coming up soon. We’re going into autumn soon, and so we’re going to have a season change pack party, a Halloween party, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years. And I am planning everything with my ranked females, but I want to be ahead with everything, so it’s just plug and play when we get to preparations.
"Yes, come on in." I tell whoever is looking for me. Willow pokes her head in, smiling as she sees me behind my computer with the binder open in front of me. Today I am focusing on Halloween. I have the season party almost down, I just need some input from the girls, but it can wait a couple of days yet. "Oh, hi Willow. What’s up?" I ask, putting my pen down.
"I was wondering if you were up for something?" I raise an eyebrow. The last couple days she has been trying to figure out why she can’t read my thoughts, when she has no trouble with almost everyone else. It doesn’t matter what species you are, Willow will read you like an open book.
"Sure. I just have to finish this. How about an hour from now?" I ask, and she chuckles.
"It’s good to see you take this seriously!" She says with a wave, and then she leaves my office again. I have heard others say the same thing over the last days, and I contemplate what they mean. Then something hits me; I have been way more serious about my duties after I was crowned. Could that be it?
"Of course that is it. But it also helps that you and Maze are finally on the same side." Someone says. I look around for her, and she pops down into one of the guests chairs. freewebnσvel.cѳm
"Hello Inari. Good to see you too." I tell her and she rolls her eyes.
"You can tell the underworld Queen the reason she cannot read.."
"Hold on." I hold my hand up, mindlinking Willow myself. Now that I am officially the Queen I can mindlink everyone I want within my own species, which is both wolf and fox, as I am Luna of a wolf pack and a fox shifter myself, but also all other Royals. Willow arrives a second later, popping in by teleportation.
"Woah, you were not kidding." She says, bowing her head in respect to Inari, who seems kind of annoyed.
"As I was saying; you cannot read Kiara’s mind because I will not allow it! You are not going to be able to read the mind of any fox unless they fall out of favor with me, and they can only do that by planning to or actually betraying their species or their Royal’s." Inari says, crossing her arms. Willow pouts.
"But where’s the fun in that?" She asks, while Inari rolls her eyes.
"You are way too strong for your own good, child. And I had to do something. My children are not to be scrutinized by invading their most private inner thoughts." Willow nods.
