Chapter 186: Chapter 186 Coronation Day
Amber’s POV
Three Months Later
Today is my coronation day. The day has been long underway, with lots of bumps and turns I could never have foreseen. I started out as an inexperienced, uncertain and slightly scared girl, and now? Now I’m the Queen I want to be. True to myself, my mates and my people. I know there are still certain elements here and in the other factions who are doubting my abilities to lead, but they will learn along the way to respect me and follow me or suffer the consequences. The rumors of the last three months have spread like wildfire, and I am sure whoever is still out there wanting another Queen will think twice before they take me on.
After the challenge was over people knelt down and hailed me, which made both me and Ignis very proud. Chase and Blazed announced they would organize a search for other unsettled elements throughout the Kingdom, as to ensure the peoples and the Royals safety. I got to meet the new couple of the South, a young and pleasant couple who supported me and my mates with all their hearts. I made sure they were truthful with my ability to detect lies, and they didn’t lie once.
We got to enjoy the last days of the market, meeting people and talking to dragons, magic folk and other werewolves who had traveled all the way to meet me and try their luck finding a mate.
Surprisingly many have found mates all around the Kingdom, however we have a long way to go before it will be widely accepted to have a none dragon mate. I’ve unfortunately heard of many families where the young have been outcast because they refuse to reject their mate, and have to live on their own. When I heard of new incidents three days in a row, I made a decree stating couples of mixed species would be welcomed in the Capitol, have a roof over their head and a job to fulfill everyday. We have worked up the most incredible Royal Guard of loyal and grateful young men and women, while our city will never be short of a baker, plumber, gardener etc.
Our parks are amazing thanks to all of those who have a passion to look after flowers, greens and all that. Something we as a family have been enjoying multiple times a week. It is such a nice way to get all of us together, and meet the people on a basis where we are all out to enjoy ourselves.
The last week people from all over the realm have been gathering in our Capitol, which has the inns and private quarters full. My family is here as well, and Maze promises the pack is in safe hands with his Beta and Gamma. My parents and he have been mingling and getting to know my mates properly. They have been helping us prepare for the twins, which was confirmed by the doctor a couple of days after the challenge. Mom has been spending a lot of time with Melody and Elina as well, playing, laughing and teaching them control over their powers. She has been speaking to the girl’s family as well, learning herself about the hidden world of shadow dragons and how they live. It has been truly beautiful to watch how all got along, and feel the love from everyone around you.
"Amber, are you ready, darling?" Dad asks, as I look myself over in the mirror. He and mom have been by my side since yesterday, telling me robes of being a Queen, something they should have done from the beginning. I’ve even spoken to my mother about the way she chose to pass on the title, and she agrees it was wrong.
"Yes, I am just nervous about my belly. It seems so big." He laughs, and mom takes my hands.
"You are an absolute sight to behold my sweet, and your mates are going to be so proud of you!" I smile at her answer. The dress I have on is a deep red, with streaks of blue throughout the bottom. The bodice is adorned with silver and purple diamonds, and around my neck is a pendant Blaze and Chase gave me this morning. It’s a picture of a wolf howling to a flying dragon - the picture of our flag. I am not wearing white today, as those will be the colors of my wedding, but I am not going to get married while so heavily pregnant.
"And the papers I signed?" They both nod pointing to a briefcase.
"We’ll take them home and get the formalities in order. Are you sure?" Mom says, her eyes searching mine for any doubt.
"I am the Queen of Dragons and Magic Folk - that is more than enough. They will be in safe hands with him."
"As long as you are sure, baby. We agree with your decision, and I am proud of you for choosing this solution." She hugs me. "Now, let’s get you to the ceremony so our son-in-laws don’t think we stole you away."
In the church everyone is gathered, and I can hear the buzz outside. The music begins and the doors open. Mom and dad take an arm each, walking me to my mates and my rightful place between them. They are an absolute vision, and as my eyes drink them in, everything else disappears from my mind.
The ceremony is a blur of words, promises and then the crown is on my head. I sit down with Chase and Blaze on either side, everyone in the church yelling my name and standing while clapping. I look out on the crowd, proudness filling my entire being.
"We did it, baby." Chase whispers in my right ear. His words are filled with love, and the smile on his face is so pure and real I can’t help but smile as well.
"Yes we did." I answer, taking his hand. Blaze takes my other hand, and both of them utter the words I adore most in this world; "We love you, Queen of our hearts." The twins kick, saying they love me too. I rise, as is tradition, to speak to the crowd, but as I get to my feet something splashes my legs and feet. I look down, a shocked expression on my face. frёeωebɳovel.com
"My water just broke." I say as the first contraction hits. It hurts, but not that much. Both Chase and Blaze panics, and mom has to yell at them to get them together. The contractions keep hitting me, and I know; today is the day I get to meet my babies.
