Chapter 167: Chapter 167 Fighting for Us All

Amber’s POV

Never in my life had I imagined I would be fighting to the death with a dragon, let alone three dragons. As soon as Rose shifts into hers, Callus and Ray shift as well, and attack me at the same time. I keep them at bay with my magic, while trying to find a solution where I can render them unconscious and take them back with me to stand trial, but then I think back to the former trial and I remember how the goddess saved them and I know. I know I’ll have to kill all three of them if we ever want to have peace in our lands.

Ignis growls, claws and bites at whatever she can reach, but she’s on a big disadvantage here not being able to fly. She blasts Rose’s dragon with a stroke of heat and magic combined, damaging her right wing. She lands on the ground, not able to take off again and Ignis jumps on her back. Both Callus and Ray fall back, worried perhaps, they will injure Rose even more if they keep attacking me. Rose tries to shake Igis off, but she digs her claws in her scales. It should be impossible for a wolf to do this, but Ignis projects our fire to her claws, making them small daggers of hell fire; one of the only things that can penetrate a dragon’s scale. She gets a good grip when Rose makes a sudden jump, and Ignis slips. We fall to the ground, and don’t have time to recover before all three dragons are over us again. This time I’m sure it’s over. This time I will die. But at least I died to protect my family. My girls and my mates.

As they are all about to strike I hear a swoosh from above, and then the screeches of the three enemies. Ignis opens one eye and sees the two dragons who could fly engaged in battle in the sky with. Calor and Loch. Ignis growls, getting to her feet slowly. The battle has taken its toll on us, but we can feel the energy from the fulfilled matebond help us. Our wounds close, and our magic is regenerating.

Rose is too absorbed in the battle in the sky, she doesn’t notice Ignis getting up. We jump at the chance of taking her down, and Ignis goes straight for her throat. She projects the fire to our teeth, making sure they will do the job of finishing her off.

Rose doesn’t even fight before her dragon falls to the ground, a good chunk of her throat missing, and she lands with a big thump, gurgling in blood. We watch as the life leaves her eyes, and then a roar in the sky sounds over the battleground. I think Ray and Callus felt their sister and mother die.

They both dive after me, but Calor and Loch block their way. They are still fighting a deadly battle in the sky, using powers, claws and teeth. Ignis keeps her eyes on them, but it’s not long before we are locked in battle again - this time with demons. A demon tackles me from the side, and jumps me but a second later the weight is off and I can hear it howl in pain. As I look to the side I see Havoc, Maze’s wolf, rip the demon’s head off. He runs to my side, and protects my flank as always. Had someone just a few months ago told me I would be here in a major battlefield fighting for my right to be the Queen I am destined to be, I would have laughed my head off. Now Ignis and I are doing everything we can to save our people and make sure a new era can begin.

Out of the corner of my eye I watch as my mother is in a heated battle with someone I don’t know. I think I’ve seen him before, but the movements don’t give me enough time to be sure. I can feel mom’s aura all the way on the other end of the clearing, and she is outraged. I’ve never felt anything like it before, except maybe the time where someone in the Alpha’s council suggested she should have let the old council live instead of dismantling them, and that they had heard rumors of them still being around somewhere. Dad had to drag her out before she killed the Alpha who said it. We never brought it up again, knowing the deaths of the old council weighed a lot on her conscience even though she wasn’t the one to kill them. Narine was.

The battle continues, and there are losses on both sides - mostly on theirs. But more and more the attention on the ground is divided between the battle of my mother and her opponent and the one in the sky between Calor and Loch, and their enemies.

’We need to help them, Amber!’ Maze says in my mind as we are in a break between attacks.

’If you have found a way to develop wings, please do tell, brother, because I sure have not.’ I answer back with snark. Havoc turns his massive head and rolls his eyes. Ignis snorts in laughter. freёwebnovel.com

Our attention is once again drawn to the battle when a big charge of magic blasts through the field. Everyone howls and growls in agony, but seeing as it is family magic, it does not affect Ignis or Havoc. Galaxy is panting, and her opponent is laughing.

"Is that all you have, Abigail? You become weak in old age, huh." The man laughs, and then I remember him. Ezekiel. He was outside my cell when I was a prisoner. He points at Galaxy, and Ignis and I react instinctively, jumping in front of her with Maze and Havoc right on our tails. Ezekiel snorts, and points at me, but just as he is about to send his nastiness at me, something pierce him from behind. It’s not enough to kill him, but render him unable to move, sure. Then my girls pop out of nowhere, both holding a spear between them. They poke it in further into Ezekiel, and he yells out in pain. Havoc runs to the girls, shielding them from the magic we can both feel coming, as I do the same to Galaxy, who is on the ground out cold. I didn’t think it was possible, but mom actually outdid her magic this time.

Ezekiel sends out a wave of darkness, which my fire splits in a second. He sneers, and is becoming deadly pale from his wound. Havoc growls from behind him, and suddenly he is tied to the ground by wind chains. fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓

’How did you do that?’ I ask Maze, but before he can answer I feel a strong pain in my chest, going straight to my heart. Ignis howls out in pain, and when we look to the sky Calor is falling towards the ground.
