Chapter 165: Chapter 165 Battle Time

Chase’s POV

The moment where she said yes was glorious, just as I had imagined. Blaze and I are both really proud, and I can feel the love between us three take a notch up when the rings slide down her finger.

Then we are surrounded by our family. They are congratulating us, and we have planned a small engagement party in the dining room with champagne, chocolate covered strawberries, canapes etc. We even got a chocolate fountain for the girls to go nuts with. Amber was glowing like the goddesses, and I was in a state of internal bliss.

But then everything goes to utter shit and chaos in no time. An arrow hits the ground and the enemy swarms us. Merida and Glaciel grabs the girls, I believe Amber might have mind linked them. Blaze immediately stands in front of the girls, barking orders to the nearest defenders. It takes another second before everything catches up, but then my training kicks in. I yell orders to those who seem too frazzled to think clearly, and we manage to keep together no matter how hard they are trying to scatter us. In the commotion I can hear Abigail on the other side of the defenders barking orders as well, and in that moment I really see the likes of her and Amber. ƒгeewebnovёl.com

As we are making sure to get all four girls inside safely, I keep an eye on Amber. Her emotions are all over the place, but then one takes root. I whirl around when a hatred so deep and profound reaches me through our bond. She has her eyes trained on something or someone in the crowd of ever swarming enemies, but I can’t see what or who. Then she roars into the night before shifting and taking off. Both me and Blaze call after her, but I don’t think she heard us.

We exchange a concerned look, but have no time to take off after our mate before we once again are engaged in combat with demons. The castle doors close behind my daughters and the girls, and I’ve had about enough of this. Blaze must be thinking the same, because at the same time we shift into our dragons. Calor and Loch roar over the crowd, and the demons back up in fear, giving our allies a chance to breathe.

’Tristan, where are they coming from? I thought you had it under control?!’

’I was made aware of several breaches in the barrier last week, but every time we arrived at the breach there was nothing to report. I put the paperwork on your desk, My King.’ I think back quickly, and he’s right. I did actually see them, but did not connect it to this.

’Alright! All durable fighters; SHIFT.’ I order in a massive mind link. I’ll apologize to Tristam afterwards, but right now we need to actually survive this attack. freewebnøvel.coɱ

All around me I see people shift into their dragons, and soon we are towering over the crowd of enemies. Blaze and I work together to keep them from entering the castle and keep our daughters safe. We don’t need Amber’s scorn when all of this is over because we let the enemy get their hands on our children. I’m not quite sure we would survive her anger.

Calor burns everyone who gets in proximity of his fire, as Loch drowns all who come at him. We work together like we’ve never done anything else, but demons keep coming from the shadows. All around me I see our people fight together, slashing, biting and breaking bones. I feel it every time someone gets hurt and a couple of times I feel a life drain out of a member of my people. It’s a pain I’ll hide in my heart and feel later. Right now their sacrifice is, regrettably, necessary to keep the majority safe.

More guards join the battle, and I keep seeing a silver shadow move across the battlefield, but I can’t for the life of me guess who it is - not before a piercing howl penetrates the battle and everyone stops at the same time to look in the direction of the howl. Abigail’s wolf, I must assume because she is the only wolf here beside Maze and he is on the other side of the crowd mind linking me with details of who things are looking. Plus, this wolf is distinctively female.

’That was Ignis. She’s calling her people for help. I will go, and you keep yourselves alive. She’ll not survive the loss of either of you. Got it?!’ She mind links both of us, and both of us nod.

’Yes ma’am. We’ll be there as quickly as we can.’ I answer seriously before she takes off in the direction of Amber and Ignis. My heart and stomach hurts with concern for her, and it doesn’t get better when I feel her being wounded. It’s a brief feeling and I know she must be healing herself, but the fact that some of those fuckers actually got that close.

’CHASE, BLAZE I NEED YOU IN THE WOODS NOW! THERE ARE...’ The cry for help from Abigail is cut short, and dread consumes me.

Calor takes off without hesitation, Abigail is over family now and I will be damned if something happens to her.

’Keep things under control here, I’ll help Abigail.’ I mind link Blaze, who growls as an answer from behind me. Down on the ground I can see a really big figure running just under me. Ezra. I smile internally. Of course he won’t let an opportunity of more fighting go. I wonder how many heard her cry for help.

Ezra runs into the woods, and I can see trees being knocked over by his huge size and great strengths. Damn, that guy is a bulldozer. Calor keeps on my wings, and soars about the trees. When we hear Ezra growl fiercely, we soar down to the treetops. There I can see huge deformed wolf like creatures - what the fuck. I try to mind linking Ezra, not knowing if the whole; a Royal can mind link to everyone thing is real, although Amber did it with my father.

’Knock down some trees so I can land, Ezra. I can help. What are those anyway?’

’They are undead hellhounds.’ The answer is simple yet terrifying. Ezra does as I ask, and Calor lands in front of the undead things. He opens his mouth and fries the lot of them and leaves only a pile of dust. Ezra has freed Abigail who nods her wolf head at us and takes off again.

Ezra scours the forest for more undeads, while I fly back to the main battleground. I keep feeling Amber being wounded, but I have put it on the back burner. I can’t let it distract me while still fighting my own battle.

Back at the other’s the battle is dying down. Demons are scattered all over the place, and as I change back for a short period I order the ones who can stand to gather them in piles for burning.

A while later I feel a strong urge of disgust come over me, and I can see on Blaze’s face I’m not the only one. This settles it, we need to get to her! Tristan says they have it under control and for us to go.

We both shift again and take off into the night after our mate. The disgusted feeling builds, while hatred and outrage goes into the mix. What the hell is happening there?
