Chapter 164: Chapter 164 The Wolf and the Dragon
Amber’s POV
I run on all fours. The blood coursing through my veins like melted lava. I can’t hear anything in my surroundings other than my own paw hitting the ground again and again in my try to get to my enemies. Callus and Gia remain to be just in view, clearly leading me into a trap, but at this point I don’t care. I will burn everyone standing in my way. This is a kill or be killed situation, and if I am on the losing end today, then I will make damn sure to take as many as I can in the fall. Most importantly; Callus and Gia. They are not allowed to survive this and come after my family. My mates and my girls. I wish we had married before this day. I want nothing else than to be their wife, their Queen. But it is what it is.
Callus turns one way at a fork in the road, while Gia turns the other. She hesitates just a flick of a second, and that’s my chance. As she looks back to see if I follow her, I send a waved thread of magic and fire at her. She screams, her eyes black as night as the fire and magic consumes her. She hadn’t expected me to act already.
’Amature.’ Ignis snorts in our mind, as we watch one of our enemies go up in flames and land on the ground no more able to harm or hurt anyone. frёewebηovel.cѳm
’She wasn’t prepared.’ I answer, and Ignis growls.
’Then she was both a fool AND an amature. You need to ALWAYS be prepared.’ With that she whirls around, hearing something I have not. Someone is behind us, and the sight would be frightening if I was as angry as I am. Demons upon demons crawl on top of each other, sneering and screeching.
’We need to get to Callus.’ I say, but Ignis is one step ahead of me. She opens her mouth and howls at the night sky, making the demons retract in uncertainty of what’s happening. Then she sets her eyes on them, charging without a second thought. We are in the middle of enemies in a second. They are scratching, biting and kicking. I can feel the small wounds open, and heal in no time. The demons who touch our blood screams in agony, as if the blood really is lava.
Ignis bites, claws and uses magic in one fluid motion, killing all and everyone she comes in contact with. If she hadn’t been my wolf I would have been in awe of her, hell I am in awe of her.
The group of demons diminish under Ignis’s constant attacks and counter attacks. She keeps using more rough power than magic, so she can save energy for the final battle with the real orchestra of this pointless power struggle.
As the last demon lays dead at our feet, someone jumps from the trees. Ignis growls, but the wolf in front of us is no enemy. Galaxy.
’I heard your call, daughter, but I seem to be too late.’ Galaxy says with a worried tone. She sniffs us, and licks the wounds we have not healed yet. They heal without any effort from our part.
’We needed to let you know where we were, but we couldn’t wait until help arrived. You never know when or where, but you can do your own part until it does. But what took you so long?’ Ignis recits the lecture mom has given us a million times. Galaxy snorts in equal amusement and annoyment.
’So, you did listen then. We were held up by a surprising number of demons and other nasty dark creatures. Your mates told me to go when we heard your howl. They are holding down the fort.’ She says before we run down the path Callus took. Galaxy glances at the dust pile on the other path, and I know what she and mom are thinking.
’Gia. She wasn’t prepared.’ Galaxy shakes her massive wolf head in contempt. She of all knows how important it is to always expect the unexpected.
We ran in silence for a couple of minutes before coming to a clearing. It lit up with torches all around the treelines, and inside the clearing is Callus, Rose and a young man I do not recognize. Around them are countless demons, hellhounds and dark creatures I do not know. Callus smirks at me, motioning for Ignis and Galaxy to come forward. They are standing on a makeshift stage, chairs placed behind them, like they are royalty and we are beneath them as peasants.
"Are you not going to change, Amber? How rude to only be able to communicate with me, and not everyone else." He mocks, and Ignis growls at him, showing off her teeth, her hackles standing up in anger. I sooth her, telling her to relax.
’He’s baiting us, don’t fall for it.’ fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓
’I’ll rip his corrupted throat up, then he’ll see if it is rude or not.’ Ignis answers hotly and I laugh.
’You know better, Ignis. You are better! So am I. Let’s finish this, but we need to do it the right way.’ She agrees silently, but every nerve end in our shared body is still on end. Callus is dangerous on a good day, but right now, cornered and trapped like this; he’s more than dangerous. He’s a loose cannon of unpredictable moves.
I shift back in all my glory, and the demons howl at the sight, and chills travel down my entire body. Galaxy moves in front of me, shielding me from the lustful eyes of the crowd. The young man at Calllu’s side growls in dissatisfaction. Callus lays a hand on his shoulder.
"Easy Ray, she’s going to be standing there for quite some time"
"Hidden by that monster." The young man, Ray, answers with disdain. His mouth pointing downwards at the sight of my mother. Rose snickers.
"We can do something about that, my darling. Don’t worry." She says in a sweet as honey voice. She snaps her fingers, and a bunch of the creatures I hadn’t been able to see clearly get on their wings. Dark fairies. They throw something at my mother, and she doesn’t react quick enough. Some of the material hits her, and she grunts in pain as a dark cloud surrounds Galaxy’s form.
When the cloud lifts, Galaxy lays on the ground, caged by black thick wines. She whimpers, but I don’t move. Mom has drilled this into the minds of both me and Maze.
"Do not ever show weakness. No matter who is hurt, you will show strength and dignity. You will keep your head high and keep fighting. No tears, not anguish they can swell in. Fight, and win." Mentally I reach out to her, showing I am here and I feel the pain, but outwards I hold my head high, and keep my composure, no matter how much I loathe the looks all the males are sending me.
Callus laughs an insane laughter.
"My, my, how the mighty have fallen. The strong and fierce Luna Abigail, trapped and injured by yours truly. Things have turned, have they not, young Amber." His eyes roam my body with lust, and he licks his lips. "Too bad I promised my nephew you as his prize when this is all over." I roll my eyes, only because I know it will irk him and I’m right. His face changed from smug glowing, to anger in no time. Then I smirk myself, as I summon my fire from within and let it consume my body, hiding everything from their eyes.
"Are you here to chit chat, or are you here to finish this?" I ask in a bored voice, and Callus roars. Right! Get angry. Angry means reckless, and I intend to have you at your angriest when we fight - because we will fight.
Fight to the death. 、
